Mario is the best host in S Florida!
Great service, super Cuban Spanish authentic food recipes. Fabulous Grouper and of course his signature beef and pork dishes. Paella for two is always a treat.
This place absolutely knocked my socks off. Best mojito I’ve ever had. So I had two of them. Also, really amazing octopus, beef and shrimp. I can’t wait to have an occasion to go back.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. The food was amazing and authentic.
MARIO and all the staff are amazing!! They set us up beautifully for a party of 7 last minute on a Saturday
Marianos Catalina Restaurant is top notch. The food is consistently terrific and the service and on Beyonce are wonderful. Mario and his entire staff are just great. This is our go to restaurant in Fort Lauderdale and on any given night it’s terrific.
Mario is wonderful and welcoming! The food was fabulous, definitely go again.
Terrible experience, spent 30 minutes waiting with a reservation
Fantastic food which exceeded our expectation.s. Service was perfect. Highly recommend it this place!
Great food, authentic great service, great ambiance! Recommended!
Been here many times very, very disappointed this time. Service way off, rushed you, not attentive, asked for separate checks, didn’t get that, was charged an outrageous amount for a shot of well vodka $14.00, charged $5.00 for a cup of coffee, asked for a refill, was charged another $5.00 not a way to get repeat customers, don’t think we will be going back anytime soon.
First time in a Cuban restaurant and loved the experience. Prices seemed a bit high but quality was good.
The food is the reason to come to Catalina restaurant. The restaurant itself is cozy and has a very pleasant atmosphere. There's a small bar you can dine at if you are doing the "pop-in" and they will also accommodate walk in traffic if tables are available.
This is a notch above the more recognizable Spanish/Cuban offerings in the area.
If you are in the mood for delicious and plentiful portions, you must try Catalina restaurant!
We had empanadas as an appetizer which was excellent. I had the Salmon and shrimp in a red sauce and my wife had the chicken chunks which both were super! Service was on point also.
Fabulous place!! Definitely recommend to everyone.
Catalina is FABULOUS!! The food, service, vibes and staff are GREAT....we love this wonderful delicious restaurant! THANK YOU MARIO!!
The food was great, we have eaten here on previous occasions and the service was better in the past, but was still good. I recommend this restaurant if you like Cuban or Spanish Cuisine.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday while visiting Fort Lauderdale and wanted a local experience. We got that and delicious octopus appetizer and paella for two. Great service.
We had a lovely evening. Mario and his wonderful staff were outstanding. The food is great good vibes terrific and it’s always a nice evening. Thank you Mario! We highly recommend Catalina.
Great food, ambience and experience
Charming romantic place
Catalina is always great. The food is terrific. The service is outstanding. Merial and his team are top notch. The vibes are great too. I would highly recommend Catalina.
Amazing food .. the service is great and the food is outstanding ..
Very good as expected
This was a bad experience. We made an open table reservation. When we arrived we waited at least 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. When he did (it wasn’t the owner) I said I had a reservation and he said “everyone has a reservation - wait at the bar”. He never took my name. We were seated and our waiter was brusque. He never told us about specials (we heard him later telling another table). The food was fine but for what it is the prices are crazy. You could get better or same Cuban food in Miami for half the price. I would never go back to this awful place because of the service and the price.
This was our second time here. The first was amazing. This was almost an abomination. We start at the front and no one greeted us to seat us we must’ve sat there for over five minutes. The waiter was very unfriendly but I guess he was busy with the food this time was quite mediocre. We had to send the state back because it was veiny and very tough they did take it back and exchange it without question. I had Mario’s favorite… The red snapper in planting crumbs with shrimp and pork. The shrimp and pork we’re OK nothing to write home about while the snap of a slightly better. We waited over an hour for our entrées I thought they would never come. We waited 20 minutes for the check I thought that would never come. It was definitely at all tonight but it was bad enough that I won’t be back
We have been loyal customers to Catalina since they were located on 33rd St. we try to go every few months. You can get the same food for less money elsewhere but I've always liked the atmosphere and Mario's warm welcome. We were early diners and the waiter began to seat us in a dark back room. Even after I told him I couldn't read the menu and my partner complained it was too cold, he left us there. The rest of the place was place was empty. Then as people came in they crowded them in around us. We should have left. Our octopus appetizer was very good. I had the fried pork chunks which I've had many times there. The pork was good but the onions on them were raw and there was no lime to squeeze on it and no waiter around to ask. Beans were bland. My partner had an overcooked palomino steak. Both came with two small plantains. At those entrée prices that is not acceptable. Service used to excellent there but not anymore. I could not even understand the guy explaining the desserts choices and he stared at the wall anyway. We waited 20 minutes foe espresso. I did not see Mario on the way out or I would have said something. I sometimes see him at Mom's Kitchen for breakfast. I will not be back. I can go to Las Vegas or DonArturos and get the same meal for half the price and have waiters actually wait on me. Sadly we have been patrons for years.
We were offered free salads, wine, and desserts, all of which then appeared on the check which was almost unreadable, and eventually removed from the check. Been told that this is a common occurrence.
We love Mario’s Catalina. The food is always top notch the valves are good and the service terrific. Mario knows how to make it happen always. We love Mario’s Catalina!
Food was excellent. Waiter seemed lost. Couldn’t get orders straight. Never came back after finally serving table. Do not do the deserts. While my Flan was good and my friends coconut ice cream was also at $12 ea they are out of their minds. This is not the 4 seasons.
And was charged forc3 deserts instead ofv2. Was easy to spot error on check.t
This was our second visit and just like the first Mario and the staff greeted us like we are family. The sangria is wonderful. We will be back again!
Mario will always make you feel special and take care of you. We had 14 for New Year’s Eve and it was perfect
Fantastic food. Great staff and service. Make you feel like you are in their home.
We were in from out of town and were looking for a spot for dinner before seeing a show. We enjoy Cuban food and figured we would see if we could find a good spot. We found Catalina on TripAdvisor and gave it a shot. We sat outside in a lovely covered patio area. The main road is right there but we barely noticed it. The servers were excellent and very kind. Mario came and checked up on us a few times during the meal to make sure we were happy. The food was excellent! Plantains with a chimichurri topping were brought out compliments of the house. We shared beef empanadas (outstanding!) and some octopus for an appetizer and then split the skirt steak with garlic shrimp (with rice, black beans, and plantains). Everything was excellent! Washed it all down with a glass or two of Rioja and some mojitos (very good). A great meal overall. It was a bit pricey ($170 for 2 people including drinks) but otherwise no complaints!
Our first time dining here. Owner Mario came by to say hello. Made us feel very welcome. Will definitely return.
Loved it great food and service will return every chance I get
This was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas Day. The food and service were really good. They even gave us a bottle of wine and a tres leches cake on the house. I highly recommend this restaurant. 5 stars!!!
The worst food I have ever had. The service level was extremely low, and they tried to cheat us on the bill with charging us extra money. When we asked why the bill was so high, they couldn’t explain it. They made us look cheap. So I don’t recommend anyone to go there!!
My family has been dining at Catalina’s for several years now and we’re never disappointed. Plenty of options to choose and everything is tasty. Highly recommend.
