Always liked the ambiance here, for a Sunday brunch they have good seafood and vegetarian choices
We have fined at Catalina Kitchen previously and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, they were serving buffet style, which was terribly expensive and disappointing. I had indicated, when I made the reservation, that we would be celebrating a birthday. I had to remind the waiter, which was most embarrassing!!! All in all, I doubt that we will return.
Miles again made our evening special as we celebrated a family birthday.
The mussels were fabulous!
Catalina Kitchen has a terrific setting. We went on a Sunday. They are now doing themed family nights on Sundays, and this Sunday was cajun. Unfortunately, the food was not very good and we all left disappointed.
Food quality and presentation for the Mother’s Day brunch was on another level. Might have been the best Sunday brunch ever. Staff were professional, friendly, and accommodating. Ambiance was sophisticated yet approachable and comfortable. Will go back for sure.
We usually enjoy our food at Catalina but the quality this time was terrible!
We changed our reservation to a later time which was not the best choice.
The brunch goes until 3pm and we changed our reservation to 2pm. By doing this, the food was old, cold and wasn't refreshed even though you're still paying the $58 per person.
Recommendation - Go early when the food is fresh!
Mother’s Day celebration
pleasant experience every time !
Every prepared item was freshly made
And service was top notch!
Lovely welcome, and weather and view was perfect
The food was exceptional and the ambiance devine. Shared several appetizers (delicious) and desserts. We will definitely be returning.
The perfect end to a birthday weekend! We did the Sunday buffet brunch and I would suggested making reservations as the place is packed. My husband and I were absolutely pleased with everything. The food was to die for! There were so many choices I felt like I could have stayed all day and just nibbles on the food. The service was great and we couldn’t have asked for a more attentive Waitress. We will definitely be coming back!
Its not the first time that I've been here. But now there service is bad. Went here for early mother day celebration with reservation last Saturday. We did the breakfast buffet. My family its there first time here so I was expecting a better service for an upscale breakfast. No complain about the ambiance, its just the service was bad. We got seated and asked if we would like to do the a la carte or buffet. We did buffet and they asked for our drinks, we grab to get our food, our first meal and we got back to our table our coffee/latte was served cold and the server gave us the bill right away without saying no rush or something and asking for our card which was really rude way. This was not happened to me here in the past experience. Got really disappointed with the service. Very rude. Our reservation was 7:30 am place was empty and has plans after to go to their spa but because of what happened we just left right away. The place was empty that time. We felt rushed and not want you to be there. Would not recommend this place anymore. Not worth for buffet, very limited unlike what it used to be. Service is bad.
Enjoyed a birthday celebration for my husband at Catalina Kitchen, great wait staff, nice menu choices and the atmosphere was perfect, casual feel with a great vibe. I also, appreciate the birthday dessert and birthday wish from the staff as well. Also, awesome Playlist, songs that were perfect for "who's this band" game.
“Miles” our server made our dinner experience special. Beef rib recommendation was outstanding. Enjoy
Daughter got excepted to UC Davis
Always nice eating lunch outside!!!
I love the food and the atmosphere here, but Unless you want to spend $68 for a brunch on Sunday stay away on Sunday brunch times. Otherwise the staff are friendly and the food is great. The visual of the shoreline is wonderful.
Menu extremely limited on a Saturday @1:30pm. Would recommend broader menu and notifying potential customers prior to arrival when allowing reservations . Went to. Nelsons as an alternative food quality poor very noisy. Greatly disappointed
It was very perfect as usual, nice restaurant, service and ocean view! and I recommend you to have the table outside . For having lunch especially at Terranea, I like Catalina kitchen because I like the menu here. For the view, Marcel’s and Nelson’s has a better ones.
Excellent food! Husband enjoyed his birthday dinner.
The kids meal had to be sent back 2 times. The kids Mac and cheese came out as adult version twice with green onions and truffle oil.
Great place for the summer day's special treat, wonderful view, food and service. Love it.....
Had long wanted to try to restaurant. I know the resort well. I live locally . Went to celebrate with my wife for our anniversary. In totality just a very disappointing experience from beginning to end. Surprisingly for a casual resort style restaurant it was very crowded. Despite having a reservation, my wife and I had to wait over 15 minutes for our table. The excuse was that they were out of menus ? Seated inside. Kids at every table near us. Good barely hear conversation with my wife. Of course, they put little care in placing us at a intimate location even with a reservation. The menu is EXTREMELY pricey. Sadly the food just does not merit the prices. My Caesar salad at $16 was bitter. My burger at $24 was overdone with jam pasted all over the bun. Worse yet, the food took ages to come to our table. Had to complain to manager.
They offered a free dessert. The chocolate chip pie was best part of the night. For such a classy resort this restaurant and staff was truly below par. I could never endorse . I don't mind paying top dollar, this was just terrible in more ways than one.
Nice location and views. The service was very good. Our waitstaff was very attentive. We went for the Sunday buffet. The seafood and sushi was very good. The meats, including the carving station, were over done and dry. The desserts were good, but overly sweet. The crepes were a hit as was the omelette station. So if you are going for the meat, beware! I highly advise using the valet parking. Just $10 with validation.
Once again we had a Wonderful Dining Experience.
We always have a Fantastic Time.
Thank You for all you had work, terrific food, Beautiful Ambiance and FANTASTIC SERVICE.
The food at Catalina Kitchen is hit and miss. You never know. The service was fine. But most of my party had salad bar which you serve yourself. The salad bar on Easter Sunday was awful. Had to ask for more lettuce to be put out, dressings for salad were awful. And soup was not very good. There was live music also. It was a little too loud. Hard to have a conversation at the table.
We had a wonderful lunch outside on a beautiful Southern California day. All four entrees were very good, the portions were generous and the service was excellent. It was a perfect choice for entertaining our friends visiting from Virginia.
Each time we visit Catalina kitchen the service is sub par
But we return for the ambiance
If the service would improve we would visit more often
Delicious dinner, every bite was amazing. Rebecca is a wonderful waitress, always a pleasure
We ordered the vegetarian crepe and the salmon BLT for lunch, both were absolutely delicious! The view over the pool and out to the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island was phenomenal! Definitely coming back!
This place is always good - you’re paying for the view, atmosphere and the quality food and great service. It’s always a good time here!
This is one of me & my husbands favorite restaurants especially on Friday nights. Evertying about it is awesome.
Comi Marvin was so centel ! He helped us a lot ! Food was delicious . We didn’t wait much for table.
Incredible! We enjoyed the Saturday brunch. Would highly recommend.
It was awesome as usual!
We loved our experience at Catalina Kitchen. Our server Joeanna did a great job . The staff is friendly and professional. My family and I really enjoyed ourselves.
Great buffet! Beautiful venue
This place is great - highly recommended! We had the breakfast buffet which had a nice, wide selection but, at $42 a head, I didn't expect old, dried shrimp-on-a-stick and smoked salmon that was a little too dry, probably because it was plated the day before. Other than that, very good - an excellent omelette bar and a choice of fantastic home-made gelatos, an unusual touch on a breakfast menu. Can't comment on the a la carte menu because we didn't have it. After eating more than we should have, we strolled the Terranea property with its fantastic Pacific views and Catalina Island feeling almost close enough to touch. If the management truly wants perfection, they'll stop the kitchen offering those few items that were clearly past $42 a head fresh.
We upgraded to the king crab option for our table of 4. I been here multiple times before and the crab were great. The king crab this time around just seems to be dry and bland. The restaurant decor has been updated and ambiance is great. The buffet choices are just okay in terms of variety and options. It’s not the biggest buffet you will ever go to. Most of the food were good however the oyster and peel to eat shrimp looked old and crusty. Perhaps it was the light but I don’t think so and skipped those options. Would I recommend this place, probably yes to go one time. But I don’t think I will be going back anymore. It came out to over $100 a person with tip, taxes and drinks which isn’t included. $6 for a cup of plain coffee is simply ridiculous.
Great Saturday brunch
Make sure you specify where you want to sit either outdoor or indoors !!!
If you want outdoors and don’t request it...it can mean a 20-30 minute wait!
We were staying at the hotel and called via hotel phone (3 times) and nobody picked up the line so I went on open table to book.
We got to the hostess desk at our reserved time and was told that we should of requested an outdoor table in advance and since I did not do this we would have to wait the 20-30 minutes in a very rude manner!
Instead, we went back to our room and ordered room service and enjoyed our view.
Just we aware of this indoor/ outdoor request!!!!
We had the best Valentine's Day dinner. Special Menu was delicious. I ordered a Surf and Turf. Ambience was exceptional, with red lights, silk red napkins, long stem roses, and the wonderful band with Sax player that made it even more romantic.
