The Dining Room at Castle Hill Inn has been the backdrop of memorable occasions for over a century, residing inside a historic mansion built in 1875. The Forbes Four Star restaurant presents a prix fixe menu showcasing the talents of Chef Lou Rossi and his culinary team. We are blessed with a location that is second to none in New England - not only for the view, but for the bounty provided by our surrounding lands being brough to your table. We had a wonderful NYE anniversary dinner. Service was very good, as was the ambiance. The restaurant offered a special 5 course NYE tasting menu for all patrons. Veggie, branzino and beef dishes were excellent. For another dish I went the sausage route while my husband went for the lobster and shrimp, the lobster and shrimp was by far the winner, wasn't too into the sausage and lentils dish. For dessert the ice cream plate was good but the poach pear dish and cookie was just ok. Chocolates and a parting gift of jam at the end were a nice touch. Overall, a great meal and an excellent spot to celebrate a special occasion.

Atmosphere is upscale (there's a dress code), service was attentive, actually too fussy for my taste. Menu was prix fixe only, which was an unpleasant surprise. Food was French style and generally good, though the Israeli couscous that came with my swordfish entree was a bit undercooked. My main complaint is the price. Though we chose the least expensive option (three-course) and did not splurge on drinks, once you add tax, tip etc. it still came out to more than $100 per person, which is much more than what I feel the experience was worth. It would also have been nice to have more flexibility -- not all of us wanted dessert, for example, but with the prix fixe menu you don't have a choice.

Our party of 5 enjoyed a Christmas Day/eve dinner which was outstanding. Service was spot on this time around - our last visit as a couple a month or two earlier found our waiter not asking how the meals were until we were nearly done. I had questions but gave up since it took so long to check in. It was a disappointment that kept us from coming back. Decided to give it another shot since some of our family hadn't yet been to Castle Hill. Hoping any future visits will have the same fine service as this visit.

The Dining Room at Castle Hill Castle was an absolutely wonderful experience. The wait staff was not pretentious. They were attentive but not overbearing, water glasses filled when needed, all our food choices outstanding and we would order everything again. Presentation was creative. We did a prix fixed meal. The wait between the appetizer and next course was a little long. However, the wait between other courses was just right. A plus were the complimentary "cleanse the palate" and post desert of two types of home made cookies. Just before getting up from the table were were given two small boxes with more homemade deserts. This was the best overall meal we had during our week long visit in Newport. That is saying a lot because we had many very delicious meals during the week.

The food at Castle Hill Inn is simply good; well prepared, inventive and appealing both to the palate and eye.

But it is the waitstaff that excels. They are individually and collectively the best.

Their wine list is exceptional, although I found a disparity between wine by the glass and wine by the bottle. The latter seemed more reasonably priced than the individual where we had a glass of gamay for $13 from a bottle which retails (not wholesales) for $14.50. Yikes!!!

Castle Hill earns its reputation as Newport ‘s top restaurant The food and presentation were wonderful, the service attentive and thoughtful. We had our small-office holiday dinner here and it was about as perfect as it could have been. Thanks Castle Hill.
