Great spot! Started our evening at the rooftop bar which has amazing views of St Pete beach. Dinner was delicious. I shared the mussels appetizer and enjoyed my lamb cho entree. The ceviche appetizer looked great and we all enjoyed sharing truffle fries. Live music on Fridays. The hotel is nicely decorated and very comfortable. We will be back.
They did a great job all around!
I have eaten at Castile Restaurant several times before and had a wonderful experience each time but not on this visit! There was live music in the bar area that was extremely LOUD. You had to squeeze through a large crowd of people to get to the dining room. The audience and music were so loud that we could not hear each other or our server. Speaking about the server, she acted like it was her first day on the job. She did not understand types of tequila, messed up our order and described an entree incorrectly. As usual the food was delicious. Because of prior visits to Castile we will return. Glad this wasn't my first visit there as it would have been my last!
Castille was recommended to us by a good friend as an up scale spot for seafood. I won't ask him again for a recommendation. The only dish using local seafood was red snapper. The highlight of the meal was our server Christian, who explained the red snapper with great enthusiasm, talking in glowing terms about the crispy scales. Scales?! Scales are not edible. The few scales that I consumed made me choke. The rest of the dishes were good, and we really did think the service was done well - except for the over sell of the non-scaled fish.
We would have given The Castile a higher rating if it were not for the quality of the night’s Special Order Steak dinner. The accompaniments with the steak were excellent and the Red Fish Special dinner was also excellent. However, the quality of the special grilled & sliced steak was 3-star at best. The display and dry rub were excellent but for a New York Strip it had a lot of fat and grizzle. This restaurant could benefit from a higher quality of beef offerings, although I did not order a filet mignon, an evenings special order steak at the listed price I would expect a higher quality of beef.
Start on the roof with the sunset-
The staff is awesome the choice are endless-
It’s creative and fresh-
We love the tapas and the cocktails-
We always take friends here..
New Years Eve dinner
There was absolutely nothing on opentable or Castile’s website informing us that NYE was buffet only. We only found that out when we arrived. Very disappointing. Most of what was on buffet I couldn’t eat (seafood and pork) so I paid a lot of $$ for food I couldn’t eat.
Whilst the food quality has remained excellent, the standard of service has declined since our last visit. Also, I can't believe there are wait staff who don't know how to open a bottle of wine, which meant a delay to receiving our drinks, and the bottle was not opened at the table. We were not asked to taste the wine before it was poured either. The staff were friendly and did their best when they were available. They were understaffed, so were not able to give their full attention to the customers during this visit.
The best evening ever! We had such a good time and it was so pleasant having a professional server who did not call us “guys”.
Small Prix fixe menu on Christmas Day with guaranteed reservations so they knew the guest count and menu going in and still we waited an hour and then was served the wrong entree. (I ordered sea bass and was served paella which we kept because it took an hour already)
When you look at all of the 1 star reviews, believe them. We had the exact same experience. The only good thing was that our experience was so poor the new manager did not bill us for the meal. He is apparently new, after several owners, and trying. I suggest they done at Columbia for a real experience to get tips on dishes and service. Feel bad for the new owner but it was the worst experience we have ever had.
Christmas Dinner ! We have eaten here many times in the past and it has always been outstanding ! So we thought Christmas dinner would be great ! Started with drinks on the rooftop to see the sunset .... furniture was warm and broken and the gas heater were not working ! Strike 1 ...
Went to our dinner reservation at 5:45 pm and waited for 15 mins while they dealt with someone who did NOT plan ahead ..... I think they were extremely disorganized and starred at the computer screen as if it would tell them where to place people ! Should have been pre-Planned. Not rocket science ! Drink were slow to reach us and of course the wine that was ordered was off an “old List “ and was not available ...... appetizer was calamari and were scraps at the bottom of the bag ! It was sent back and replaced ! We had Lamp chops ( Med Rare ) which came out medium - med well ! Also had their trademark dish Seafood Pieta ..... Seafood part was good but rice had no taste and was burnt or dried out ! So sad !! Turned out the excuse was that management AND kitchen personnel had been replaced shortly before the Holidays ! Really ???
Can’t you find anyone who can cook ?? So disappointed !
Will not return for a long time until I start hearing good things about the restaurant and rooftop bar ! Could be a goldmine with the right people and cooks in place ! Spend some money fixing up the roof top bar ! Get stuff that works !!
Terrible service. We had a reservation On Christmas Day for lunch and I had even called earlier in the day to confirm our reservation. We arrived on time. Hostess seemed surprised and inconvenienced when we checked in and told us that they had to get our table ready and that it would be awhile. She took a phone call in front of us and told the person that there were no tables available. When she got off of the phone, she complained to us about that person who had called. Very unprofessional. When we were finally seated, waiter rushed to take our food order without asking for a drink order. The menu on Christmas day for lunch was very limited but they were running out of food items. The place didn't even seem that busy. It took a very, very long time for our food to arrive but my brother in law's grouper sandwich wasn't ready yet. Waiter disappeared for a long time then brought out my brother in law's sandwich then ran off. Instead of the sandwich having the bun on the menu (that the rest of us got), it was put on untoasted white bread. And the fish was cold. We also overheard other tables being told by waitstaff about being out of other items too. We also got overcharged on a dish. I gave the food review as "fair" because some of it was good. It is too bad that Castile Restaurant can't get their act together. It is in such a great space with a great view and they decor is well done. When they first opened, it was really good. I can't go there again, though. I live in St Pete Beach, btw.
The whole advertisement for Christmas Brunch was a scam. Most of the people were really disappointed, the food was disgusting Even the lunch menu they had was not even up to the standard of a decent restaurant. The pictures of the website were totally different than the actual place.
Great view by the water, great food and great service. Will definitely be back.
Birthday for my wife. Nice place the they had a singer there she was good.
The waitress was condescending and tried to up sell every item. We ordered the lamb chop lollipop appetizer and it came out undercooked. When the manager came to deliver the replacement she accusingly said we had received the dinner portion (as if we had made a mistake) and put down the appetizer. These were totally UNCOOKED.
For the first time (ever) we walked out of a restaurant.
Very very disappointing Thanksgiving dinner. Ruined our holiday. Service was poor. We didnt even leave a tip. The food was inedible. We only took 2 bites. The manager was busy due to everyone returning their meals. Never again will we return to Castille.
The food was fantastic and the venue was serene and beautiful. Our waiter made us feel at home. Highly recommended way to spend Thanksgiving.
So enjoyable that we want to make reservations for Christmas, as well! Loved our table with an excellent view. Our server, Chris, was pleasant and attentive from the moment of our arrival. We opted for the Chef's special Thanksgiving menu, which began with a delicious butternut squash soup; the turkey was perfect; and dinner concluded with a pumpkin flan (quite good).
ok but nothing great. good wine.
a bit chilly and they didn’t have heaters on the patio.
The AC was cranked inside and it was freezing.
Pricey for this beach.
We received a warm welcome from Castile! It was our first time and our anniversary . They sent two glasses of champagne with raspberries to the table. We started with the fritto misto, which was more like fried calamari with antipasto peppers but it was delicious. Fresh and tender , not greasy. I had the snapper which was amazing and my husband had the harissa chicken. We shared the chocolate terrine - also delicious. Our waiter Chris was fantastic! We will return
Average food. No service. If you need something you need to get up and go look for a server. Overpriced for what was served. Most things needed a refresh.
Nice location and food was very good. Service was terrible. Our server was sweet but incompetent. From not having silver ware on the table when one of our meals arrived, not clearing plates till way after we had finished, to having to search for someone to bring us the bill, it was a disappointing experience for a restaurant that is not shy to charge and serves delicious food.
Sister in law in town.
We changed our lunch reservation to dinner so we could enjoy the sunset from the rooftop. Beautiful night!
Castile is a beautiful restaurant, with gorgeous arched windows facing the intercoastal waterway. Service is warm and attentive, from the Receptionist all the way down to the bus staff. The meal was served in a timely manner and it was delicious as well as beautiful to look at; the chef is very inventive in a positive way as all the flavors blended perfectly. The servings, by the way, are quite generous, with the exception of the flourless chocolate cake which was small but very rich and paired with (our idea) the excellent hazelnut gelato, amazing.
Our only problem, which had nothing to do with the restaurant but was a major one, was the parking. It is valet only, fortunately, because the garage is complicated. On our night there were two weddings and the backup to pull into the hotel was all the way to and including Gulf Boulevard.
Food and service were great. The rain sent a wedding party down from the rooftop bar, so it was very loud at first, but after they left it was very pleasant. Always one of our favorite places!
We went for Sunday brunch and it was terrible. There were only 3 tables that had patrons, yet the waitress was never to be found, was frustrated and overwhelmed, and had a hard time with simple requests when she finally made it back to our table. The buffet was terrible with overcooked and flavorless food. The drinks were poorly made, the Bloody Marys tasted like cocktail sauce and were undrinkable. The only things we enjoyed were the cold steamed shrimp and the apple strudel. I really wanted to like this place, I love the rooftop bar and was hoping for another brunch option on the beach. We will not be back.
The staff was not very accommodating with a large group. While the ambiance was nice, the food was not very good. The Caesar salad required chopping a wedge of lettuce and croutons.
The food was fantastic! We ordered the croquettes and grilled octopus as appetizers and the lamb and skirt steak for our entrees. Our server Meghan was fabulous as well!
One of the best meals I have had in a long time from appetizer through dessert. The bacon wrapped dates were excellent as were the pattatas brava (sp?). Bronzino and scallops for the main course. Highly recommended.
The food was phenomenal and the service was excellent.
We dined on the outside patio. We could hear the music piped outside from the restaurant as well as the music downstairs playing at the pool. Different vibes, confusing ambiance.
Our waitress was horrible, she described the dinner special, i ordered it, then 10 minutes later she came back with a menu and said it's sold out and pick another entree. Our dinner was delivered by a runner, the waitress never came back except to bring the bill.
Great ambiance, service, fine wines and quality food, ensure a great dining experience. The Mediterranean food on offer is cooked to order and well presented.
Nice brunch buffet, including oysters and shrimp cocktail plus an omelette station. Friendly staff.
Wow so much better now... everything was delicious and the service was great... we hadn’t been here in a long time... so glad we came back
