Castello Ratings and Reviews
The food is consistently excellent! They make a table side Caesar salad that is Amazing! All pasta and fish entrees rival any 5 star NYC restaurant. That is what we have tried. Also the desserts are homemade and authentic Italian. This is a small family business. Two brothers wait and bus the tables any time we've been there. They are so congenial, funny and polite. The service is impeccable!
The ambiance is old Italian. It could use a little updating.
Took a client group for a dinner meeting and had made a number of special requests regarding menu and room set up. Everything was handled perfectly! The staff were highly attentive without being intrusive, and the food and wine were outstanding. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend the restaurant for personal or business dining!
If you're looking for a great taste of Europe, look no further. As soon as you walk in, it feels as if you're in Italy. The ambience of the place makes you feel as if you're right at home with that wonderful, welcoming, & comforting feeling. The service and food was remarkable. I had the spaghetti alla Castello and it had the right amount of spiciness to my dish which made it very enjoyable for me. The service was excellent & efficient, we were able to enjoy our dinner comfortably & we didn't feel like we were being rushed at all. Definitely will be coming back again.
The service was excellent as was the food. Tableside preparation of Caesar Salad and also tableside service of Red Snapper were phenomenal! Highly recommend to anyone who truly enjoys an outstanding meal with service to match. One of the best restaurants in the area for certain.
Castello is a nice place to bring a date. The service here is professional and attentive. Nobody will rush you through your meal, and if you need anything all it takes is a glance at the waiter. This is unusual in an American restaurant and seems a throwback to the old world service model. When you want the check, you need to ask.
This was my second time at Castello and the food was again fantastic. It's always a pleasure to have a caesar salad made tableside in a wooden bowl. Our server did a great job and had a good sense of humor. I had the Chicken Scarpariello and it was delicious. The homemade sausage with a hint of fennel really made the dish shine. My date had Chicken Marsala and that was tender and tasty. I almost got the Branzino again. Last time I was here I got that and it was awesome. The tableside preparation was nice with that dish. A nice wine selection brought us a bottle of Montalcino.
WE skipped appetizers to save room for homemade dessert. The creme brulee had a nice crust and the chocolate lava cake with ice cream hit the spot too.
The service was awful!! I made a reservation for 2, and when we arrived, no one was at the desk to give us a table. We waited 10 minutes while 3 different waiters walked passed us and didn't help at all. I finally had to take it upon myself to ask the busboy to find us someone that could seat us. Once we finally got a table, we were given bread but no menus!!! We had to personally ask for those too, and on top of that we had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. After waiting for food, they didn't clear our plates when we were finished but yet tried to rush us through eating.
Instead of serving up fake smiles and pretending new customers don't exist, they should've been concerned with giving us quality service!! The decor and ambiance was nice, but the service was BAD enough to ruin our experience. Never going back!
We have lived in the area for nearly 20 years and had not discovered this little gem. When looking for a spot for after graduation celebrations this popped up as having room for 12. We showed up with 13 and we're seated with no problem. The waitstaff really made dinner fun and engaging. Everyone's meals were excellent too many to list and the deserts fantastic. I will go back!
I have been coming to Castello for months now, sometimes I find myself there two- three times a week! The food is out of this world, and the service puts this place on top! I have never felt so welcome into a restaurant, most of the workers here are family and they make you feel right at home. The wine list by the glass and the bottle are very well put together giving you some options. If you need a suggestion just ask Nori, he is very knowledgeable. This place still does table side caesar salad is just wow, that is made by the younger brother Zenel. Tableside doesnt end there, they have bronzino and flambé both of which are a great show and taste even better. Fantastic, Highly Recommend!
My husband and I had a nice meal at Castello on our way to Boston from Pittsburgh. His seafood risotto was as delicious as my Veal Marsala. The beet salad and homemade bread basket was a welcome treat to our shared beet salad! My husband and I were left wondering why at some point during dinner that we were the only two diners!? Service was excellent too! If we lived close by, we would be regulars!
After hearing a lot of noise about this place and reading the great reviews, I decided to give ot a shot with my girlfriend. As soon as we walked up the marble staircase we were greeted with a friendly smile and seated promptly. I travel a lot for work so I get to try many places. My girlfriend had the soft shell crabs and shes still talkin about them. I had the 12 oz Rib Eye that was simply cooked to perfection. For appetizers we had the bacon wrapped scallops and the ceasear for two table side, both were amoung the best i've had. For dessert we got the chocolate lava cake that was perfect. I can't forget about the staff who were very well trained and knew their stuff. Castello has become my new favorite restaurant, I highly recommend this place.
Me and the wife went to Castello last night after driving by it for so many years, we have been hearing great things about the place and on arrival we were pleased. The marble stair case takes you from Downtown Danbury to italy. Merlinda(the hostess) took us to our table and even pulled out my wife chair for her. Nori the head waiter made his way to us from another table and greeted us as if he knew us for 20 years. Castello has a great menu but what will keep me going is the daily specials. I have the 12oz rib eye that was cooked to perfection, my wife had a branzino which she loves, which was deboned tableside. We normally do not have dessert but we saw a young man making bananas foster which I haven't seen in a while and it smelt amazing, so we had to get it. This banana foster is in the top 2 all time, neli the young man making it is a funny one. Over all Castello was a hit, me and my wife both enjoyed everything and I don't know if it could have been better. The staff here is welcomeing, professional, and knowledgeable about what they have. If you having been, you truly are missing out on one of Danbury best restaurants and a style of service and cuisine that would make any foodie happy
Food was acceptable, however, the servers seemed to pay attention to every other table except us. They completely ignored that we had finished our appetizers and had been waiting
just over 20 minutes before we actually called them over to look into our main course order, and even then, there was another wait. Service needs major improvement.
My wife and i had a wonderful dining experience. The food was outstanding, as good a veal chop as i have ever had. The waiters were the chef owner's sons, and both very fine, very competent young men. Their mother is the baker with excellent bread and a wonderful Tiramisu. As a finale the espresso and cappuccino were very good, and very hot!
We went into the kitchen and met the chef owner, described by his sons as a behind the scenes kind of guy. We found him to be most gracious.
Took some friends to our favorite spot and there where zero disappointments. The service is always great and the food is incredible. The wife and I had a seafood risotto special and it was out of this world. Our friends had the rigatoni bolegnese and the fillet mignon special. It was real quite during dinner because we could not stop eating, it was so good. Never disappointed with Castillo
The appetizers & main course was absolutely delicious. The desserts were terrible. The Creme Brule tasted like eggs & had the consistency of scrambled eggs. The chocolate lava cake was crushed & was like eating and uncooked brownie & had no melted chocolate in it whatsoever. For valentine's day they weren't really that busy & yet our service was absolutely poor. We are undecided if we'll go back & try it again
Family run restaurant, amazing food amazing staff.... Nothing bad to say about this gem
I do think if a restaurant makes an effort with the bread then you will not go far wrong. The bread is off the charts.......
This time we went for valentines and they were not doing the flambé strawberries for dessert as they were too busy but these are amazing
The fish dishes they de bone and serve table side, nice touch and like with the strawberries you get a little show :-)
We love everything about this restaurant . Went to Castello on a Sunday night with group of six we have a roundtable perfect for conversation . And perfection was followed by a wonderful family owned restaurant and the food was prepared great . We have different things on the menu a long list of specials that included clams Oreganato ,Cesar salad. Table site whole branzini professionally deboned Table site and many other choices chicken dishes veal and homemade pastas !!! Highly recommended .......!
