Seriously, best all around meal I have had in, oh, 20 years?
Veal Chop, mushroom risotto, epic!
Always a great dining experience Service is top notch. Food was cooked to order We were seated where and when we asked.
Amazing food Great ambiance incredible champagne and best service I’ve ever had
What a delightful experience at Castellis. From Ronnie to our server and all the individuals who gave us instant attention plus the delicious Cesar Salad and garlic bread then AMAZING dinner 🥘 we highly recommend this restaurant. My mom used to go here when my Papa was alive and they treated her like a celebrity (she is 101 yrs old!) so grateful for the Valet parking!!
We have been enjoying Castelli's for several years, and always make it a point to bring out-of-town guests so they can enjoy the food and wine. The staff is highly knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, and attentive.
Ok, we read all the great reviews and the place was packed... proof it is a great place, right? Not our experience. We are first taken to a table in line with the front door. When we asked for something else, the hostess loudly announced "they don't like that table". Got a better table. The Pasta del Mare entree was lukewarm pasta sitting in a pool of "tomato water" described as their famous marinara sauce. Seafood was almost all squid which was overcooked and rubbery. The only pasta that was house-made was the cannelloni, which was very bland and tasteless. We couldn't believe that Zagat ranked this place as one of the top 100 Italian restaurants in the US. Also it is very pricey. Past entrees hover around $25. Meat and fish just under $50. Not worth it.
I don't like to say anything unkind unless it is truly a bad experience, and this was not. What I will say is that no one at our table was thrilled with their meal. We found it generally bland, the pasta overcooked and the sauce tasted 'mass produced' instead of freshly prepared and flavorful. We were visiting PD for the first time and were HIGHLY recommended to go to this restaurant so clearly, others disagree with our experience. My suggestion would be to update their menu with some fresh items and create each sauce for each dish when ordered so the flavors and aromas of the ingredients are present. The red sauce simply tasted like crushed tomatoes and it came on almost every dish.
On the flip side, the service was very attentive and pleasant, and the ambiance is 'classic' (dated), which clearly is the intention as I believe this family has owned the restaurant for decades and wants to maintain it's style.
Spent our 46th Anniversary and we where treated w/such care and professionalisim. We will definitely come back everytime we are in Palm Spring.
Thank you to all the staff that served us.
It was very special.
Disappointing. The valet service was very confusing. The appetizer was OK but the salad was uninspired. My veal was watery and rather tasteless. My wife's pasta tasted bit powdery. The service was less than expected for such a highly rated restaurant and the waiter was a bit aloof. Overall, I feel we wasted one of our valuable vacation meals out. i can not recommend this place.
Great service! Stuffed mushroom appetizer was delightful, salad was about a 7 out of 10. The veal parm was nice, pasta side was cold, veal chop was PLAIN and the ice cream, strawberry, chocolate sauce dessert was definitely LESS than stellar. We made an unfortunate Chianti Classico wine choice and it kind of affected the entire experience. We try to make it to Castelli’s every time we are in the area. Don’t know if we’ll return? Sad really!
Pasta Bolognese tasted like Chef Boyardee (or just came out of a can).. Veal Milanese was soggy and not crisp. Osso Bucco (their specialty) was very sweet (not like any other I have ever had). Definitely the worst Italian meal I have ever had (and we eat out a lot). We would never eat there again!
Loved everything we tasted and the service was great, as always.
Came to celebrate two birthdays and had a wonderful time. The Caesar salad was delicious as was the garlic bread! The signature pork chops our birthday boy had were yummy and the birthday girl enjoyed her cannelloni. My pomodoro was super spicy and I had to get it redone but round two was perfect! Great spot for high end Italian food.
Have been here twice with friends and with family (my kids) and have had a fantastic experience both times. Authentic old school Italian feel, very friendly/attentive service and good food. No brainer.
Warm welcome from the host, who promptly seated us at a very cozy table on the patio. Food was very solid, traditional Italian - we had appetizers of shrimp in mustard sauce, beet/goat cheese salad, and entrees of veal piccata and cioppino - all delicious and good-sized portions, although the pasta that accompanied the veal was slightly little overcooked. Our waitress, Laura, was terrific - she knew the menu backward and forward, was always available when we needed her, and timed arrival of our dishes exactly as we had requested. We shared an enormous serving or tiramisu for dessert - really more than we could handle. Prices were very fair. Will definitely return.
Good food, great service, great cocktails etc. An Established eating place where locals and those in the know go for dinner.
First time visit for us and occurred from a recommendation of friends who spend several months in the Palm Springs area. Everything was outstanding from the valet to waiter. We had the Osso Buco and Cioppino; both excellent! Bread was exceptional. We did not have any of the desserts. Great night. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Best Italian food ever. Service was impeccable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Took us over a half hour late for our reservation. That is too long.
All meals were great!... and the Osso Buco to die for!
Hardly finished the last bite and waiter picked up plate
I know they need turn over but this is ridiculous.
The table we had was on the inside patio and was really bad we had a big column her behind her back and I could hardly move
Best meal we’ve had in Palm Desert. We can’t wait to go back.
4th anniversary dinner with my wife and everything was perfect. 5 stars across the board for this spot!
Always excellent service and quality food.
Service here is impeccable. The waiters are on top of everything from clearing the table, bringing new silverware and folding you napkin. You will not go wanting for service here. This is how it should be. The food matches the service and is prepared fresh and served hot. I had the Coppino and my wife had the Veal Piccato. I normally am not a fan of mussels but these were perfectly prepared, not chewy and not raw. The veal was tender and tasty. Food was a great fresh twist on classic Italian fare. Highly recommended.
Great service and food as always.
Many thanks to the staff.
Our second visit to Castelli’s and it remains one of our favorites! From the moment you walk in the door you are entranced with the ambiance of the Old World. The service was impeccable and every dish fantastic!
Escargot, insalada and scampi and spumoni pie were prepared to perfection!
Great place to get your Italian food. Attentive, friendly, quick service, not epicurean, but great Italian food at reasonably priced. One of our Palm Desert favorites.
Great! Great service. Good food. Solid wine list.
We love Castelli's and brought our granddaughter with us this time. We have never had better service. David Swift was our server and he was spectacular with our 5 year old. We can't thank him enough for making our dinner a night to remember.
Castelli's is always excellent! Food quality is very consistent. Fun scene...
Very tasty I would recommend
Awesome meal. Great italian feel
This was the best dining out experience we’ve had in a long time. The food, the atmosphere, the service - everything was perfect! We will absolutely go back next time down in the desert.
Excellent service and great food. The veal chop, fettuccini Alfredo and king crabs legs were perfect.
Love it here.
My favorite Italian restaurant. Every time I’m in the valley I make it a point to go to Castelli’s
Very nice and food and service was excellent!
Have eaten here many times when in the Palm Springs area during the winter months. Food, service and selection always great.
This is were the locals go and I know why, the service was great and food was excellent. Very cool ambience with both the bar and dining room packed. The veal was amazing along with the seafood. I would diffinitely go back again and again.
Food was awesome! Veal chop was fantastic as were the pork chops and strip steak!
