Castano's Italian Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
For many years a this was our go to place!!! We were always frequent customers! After two recent meals with VERY poor service and terrible food...it is now off the list. So, so sad! Hope that they make some changes so that we can perhaps come back sometime soon....
Our first visit was outstanding and I wrote a glowing review. However, the next time in February, the food was good, but the service was very, very slow. We were there 2 hours.
This past Saturday, May 7th, the service was even slower than the last time, but this time my medium rare, 12 oz Filet Mignon was medium at best. If this had been any other steak it would have been inedible. We waited for our first drinks, then the salad. In the meantime 3 other tables were after us and served, which was when, after 2 hours we asked about our food. We were told that because we had a salad, we were put at the bottom of the cook list and the folks that did not order anything else had their orders cooked first.
After we mentioned the issue to our server, she did bring us a complimentary cocktail, however by that time we wanted to eat not get toasted.
We will go back to the restaurant one more time, but not on a weekend. If the service and food are not up to their usual standards, then we will go elsewhere.
Katerina, our waitress was very attentive, eager to please and just an outstanding and outgoing individual. The mealo was terrific! My wife had the stuffed flounder and I had the bone in ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection and was very plentiful--had to carry a third of our meal home! We had a couple of drinks at the bar and the outstanding service was prevalent there too! A great place to enjoy good food and great service!
We visit Castano's every time we come to Myrtle Beach (5-6 times a year). The food is always great and the staff is always accommodating and attentive. Many of them remember us from past visits and always make us feel like special guests. I suspect they treat most guests the same way. Mark, now the GM, has been especially welcoming to friends and family and we are always amazed at his attention and ability to recall detail. Come for the great food.......you'll come back for the food and the staff!!
It was my boyfriend birthday , We had a wonderful waitress her name was Ariel she went above and beyond to make our diner special and memorable , the food was delicious the chocolate lava cake Ariel style was to die for welcoming staff and outstanding service we will absolutely come back
We had to wait 5+ minutes for the hostess to return to her station and seat us even though we had reservations and arrived a minute early. Our server brought us the wrong appetizer and there was a delay in getting fresh bread. However, the quality of the food was good and this was the first time we had less than good service. So I expect we will return to this restaurant in future visits to Myrtle Beach.
We are from Maryland but make our way to Myrtle Beach every year or so. We discovered this gem about 3 years ago and it has become our favorite restaurant in Myrtle Beach! I know it is well known for the steaks but the Italian dishes are amazing. I had the Mobster Ravioli which is squid ink stripped ravioli filled with lobster and cheese in a decadent Lobster cream sauce with grilled asparagus (so tender by the way). My husband had a tender Veal Parmesan that did not disappoint! He kept raving about the marinara sauce (and he doesn't usually rave about anything!). Can't wait for our next trip to MB just to visit Castano's again!
In a sea of franchise and tourist appeasing restaurants Castano's was a most pleasant surprise. We enjoyed well prepared and very tasty filets. A return trip two days later confirmed that this restaurant can provide great pasta as well. Both meals were enhanced by attentive a d timely service.
Kudos to our waiter, Will.
Our first time dining at this restaurant. Had a good size bar area with tables. Had music videos playing of people like Mama's & Papa's, Elton John, Billy Joel. Good music videos. Dining area is separate from bar area which was good as music in bar was a little loud for a dining experience. Music in dining area was soft with music by Sinatra, Buble. Not loud. Food was good. Had She Crab Soup. Wasn't real hot, and I've had better. Also had the chopped salad and the crab cakes which were both excellent. Crab cake was about 3 inches high and very light and crispy on the outside and lots of meat on the inside. We chose for our side the spaghetti with marinara sauce and it was good. Restaurant is a little pricey - with tip for 4 people was $172 and we shared 2 meals between the 4 of us. We did have wine and beer. They do have a sharing charge. They have steaks which we didn't have but they had a display of them and they looked wonderful. Will go back to try the steak the next time. We had a coupon of by one entree and get the next one of $20 or under for free. Although we purchased 2 entrees between the 4 of us, they would not let us use the coupon. I didn't agree with that. Overall, it was a good dining experience and as I mentioned earlier, we will probably go back to try the steaks.

Really expected great things based on reviews we saw. Our reservation was for 6:45 and we were seated at that time. Dinner didn't arrive until after 8pm, due to a large party that was in progress. Any restaurant worth its salt can handle large and small parties. The food was mediocre at best. My crab cakes were mushy and my husband's chicken marsala was dry. The only saving grace was our waitress who was attentive and apologetic about the delays.
The restaurant was a little difficult to get to, but once there was wonderful. Our server Jim knew exactly how the food was prepared and made suggestions to help us get the most from our dinner. We sat at a table with a very nice view. The décor was modern and very clean. The food was very good. We would definitely return and recommend this restaurant.
The service that we received from Will was outstanding. It was obvious that he enjoys his job and went out of his way to make our experience memorable on our 20th wedding anniversary. The porterhouse was the most delicious steak that we have ever had! We will definitely go back on our future visits to Myrtle Beach!
As "non-locals" but have vacationed in MB for years, Castano's was a pleasant surprise this trip! The food was awesome, the service was outstanding (asked to be seated in Sierra's section) and if you're looking for a lively place to have a drink, this would be your place. We enjoyed our entire experience & will return in the future!
This was our first time here and definitely not our last. From the moment we entered the entire staff was helpful and friendly. Our waiter, Will, helped us to compare the menu with some of our favorite restaurants up and down the east coast. We ordered the super tuscan limited wine special which paired perfectly with both the spaghetti and meatballs my wife was craving and my prohibition barrel steak. The bananas foster bread pudding dessert and a delicious Starry Night caramel cocktail completed a memorable dinner. We are so glad we were referred to Castano's by a waiter from one of Myrtle Beach's competing restaurants.
We had reservations for Valentine's Day Dinner. We were seated promptly upon our arrival at a very nice table in the rear of the restaurant. Our waiter came and took our drink order almost immediately, however after this the service declined. A young couple that was seated after us immediately ordered the Couples Special with their drink order and bread were brought right away, we were not ordering the $149 Dinner Special and I guess our waiter thought that we were not as important as someone ordering the Special. We waited 13 minutes after that for our drinks and our bread came out several minutes after that. Our food did arrive in a timely manner and I might add that it was probably one of the BEST Steaks that I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My wife had the Salmon and it has outstanding as well. Our only complaint was how we were waited on after not ordering the special. We actually did not realize we would have a limited menu on this night or we may have chosen a different establishment. We would return to Castano's but not on Valentine's Day!!! One other note the music in the bar area was too loud!
We reserved using the tab on the TripAdvisory listing. We were not disappointed. We got there, they admitted us and took us to our table, Thank you for reservation. Now for the meal. I had wanted pasta and because we went on Valentine's there was a limited menu. I was not fussy about the meal I choose, but I was still taken with the whole atmosphere-ergo, I would attempt one more try. My wife's meal (so she says) was very very good. I take her word for it. Her meat was cooked to her perfection so that was great. As an appetizer, we had the shrimp...I would have that again -and so would my wife. Very good.
Now, we had house wine, I found the red Pinot Noir a little too dry but it was tasty. My wife had a Moscato and she loved it but it was not a white, it was a pink...
All in all, we will go back.
My wife and I met with two friends for Valentine's Day at Castano's. The ratings for the food were excellent. At first I was a little hesitant as some reviews made comments about the service. That happens sometimes...so we thought we'd give it a try. Our evening started with our server telling us how great the place was, and how their beef was aged 40 days on-site. We were excited by what we had heard. I had the NY Strip special with crab and langastinos, as did my friend. My wife had the filet mignon. My wife's friend had the salmon.
The problem we encountered was that the dining room was split between 2-3 servers, one of which was helping the other two. The issue was that each thought the other was covering the tables, so the service was V E R Y slow!!!!!! Items ordered were forgotten...several times. This was most frustrating.
I'd probably go back as the food was pretty good, but definitely not on a holiday such as Valentine's day (not that the restaurant was overly busy), but everyone seemed very confused.
Went to Castano's second weekend of restaurant week. Had a reservation, but still have to wait for a table. 2 hours after walking in the front door we were finally being served our entree'. Food was excellent, however service was very slow and non attentive. Do not know if this was due to restaurant week or is normal. Wait staff repeatedly apologized and said it was not normal, but it was a good thing we had no other plans for the evening.
The four of us arrived early for our 6.30 reservation, and were told that we would be able to go to the table at 6.30pm. We went to the very crowded bar, and had a cocktail. Super bar tender and good atmosphere. Love having music there, but you have to shout to your friends! At 6.30 were went to our table and ordered a glass of wine. We all had a salad and three of us had an appetizer - really good size. My husband had a pasta entrée - "Now That's a Meatball" at $17.95. This is one meatball served on an appetizer sized plate, with no salad included. We all enjoyed the food and wine, however this meal took two hours. The waitress was appeared to have a lot of tables, and we thought the service was slow. When the waitress brought our checks they were incorrect, so that took extra time.
The She Crab Soup was delicious, the salad they offered had a little too much oil that covered my mouth. We both got the steak which was up to their usual High standards...We order one each of the deserts and both were wonderful (Cheesecake and Fruited Bread Pudding).
They had a steel drum group - the steel drums were wonderful - the education on how they were made was fascinating. It was impressive to know he made his own.
The food and staff (we had one of our favorite waitress' Kimberly) have never let us down.
We tried Castano's for the first time during Restaurant Week and were very pleasantly surprised. She crab soup and salads were excellent, salmon and filet entrees were very good. The potato wedges were burnt to me, but my husband liked them. White chocolate bread pudding was OK (could have been better with a little whipped cream) and the Limoncello cheesecake was yummy. The only problem was a barmaid who was obviously high on something and allowed to serve. After several attempts to order a drink from her (where my Bloody Mary became a Watermelon Margarita!) a coworker finally stepped in and sent her away. The girl could barely walk. Other than that first unfortunate encounter with Castano staff the service was excellent.
