Casta Diva Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant was great! I took my wife here for Valentine's Day and she was extremely happy! The food is delicious and the pasta sauces were so rich and decadent. It's also BYOB which offsets the fact that it's on the pricy side (we spent $80 on an appetizer, two entrees, and just brought our favorite bottle of wine).
As usual, Casta Diva did not disappoint. Our friends raved about the lobster bucatini and the veal chop, and we all agree that the grilled artichoke appetizer is the best in the city. And, the chocolate creme brule is unbeatable. Great service, not at all overbearing, and upbeat atmosphere.
Steven. the owner/chef, takes great pride in his food and his restaurant. He uses the best ingredients and lovingly prepares food that looks beautiful and tastes delicious. This is a hidden gem in the Rittenhouse Square area. It is our favorite place to spend a special evening. I have many food allergies, and Steven is always willing to put himself out to prepare something that is safe for me to eat yet still delectable. He is creative, passionate about his creations, and accommodating. We love Casta Diva!
My husband and I met Friends for Dinner Saturday night at Casta Diva. We all had never been, and this is probably the only BYOB in the city we hadn't tried yet. We are big foodies and love cooking & entertaining ourselves for friends and family so we are very particular of where we eat. We had a great experience at Casta Diva! We were seated immediately and the service the entire visit was amazing! I have a gluten allergy and sometimes I find going to an Italian restaurant can be difficult, but not here! All of the menu items are gluten free and if you call ahead of your reservation the owner will make homemade gluten free pasta from scratch! Yumm! We ordered the calamari and artichokes to start and the Salmon, Bronzino, and lamb for dinner. The flavors were outstanding, but the only negative comment is the size. The portions from appetizers to entrees are way to small and the prices are overpriced for what you get. That being said, I would still recommend this as a must try due to the flavor and great service!
We've eaten at Casta Diva many times and I think it just keeps getting better. The food is great and the menu changes but is always diverse in it's choices. The Caesar is among the best in the city, The portions are appropriate, The deserts are all worth saving room for. The staff are friendly and attentive but not intrusive. If you haven't been, you should try it!
We had a fabulous, fabulous evening. Our first visit to Casta Diva certainly will not be our last. My wife, our 18 year old granddaughter and I had dinner at Casta Diva in the one night we spent in Philadelphia recently. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more. We shared appetizers -- the artichokes and a caesar salad. Both were terrific. Our main courses were Crispy-skinned wild salmon, seafood in broth and gnocchi. Each was special. The food was quite fabulous. Service was smooth and present, but not in the way. Casta Diva is a special place. We will be back.
As far as choices for a nice Italian BYO in Philly go, Casta Diva is one of those in the top tier. Very polite and friendly service from start to end. The food was excellently prepared, and during the meal the appropriate amount of attention was paid to us as we ate. I would advise to go before it gets too busy, as when it is crowded it can be a tad loud, due to the cozy size of the establishment. A solid 5/5.
Excellent food and service. I loved the Frutti di Mare entrée I ordered and my friends said the salmon was cooked to perfection. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs despite being quite busy. My sole complaint was the noise level in this relatively small restaurant. We had a party of 10 next to us celebrating a birthday and could hardly hear ourselves talk over all the noise they made.
I eat here almost every time I visit Philly, I love the food! I love the BYO option. I love the service. The only thing that does tire me, and especially this last visit, was the noise level as it gets crowded. I do not mind sharing a wall lined with bench seating, I'm friendly. But this past Friday night was super busy as weather was terrific and PHL had a marathon happening, and I could not hear my friend over the table at times.
I will still go to Casta Diva. I do love the food that much. But I will go early. Their barratta appetizer is amazing, their wild boar ragu over parpadelle can't be beat and this time the special scallops with wild mushroom and asparagus risotto was just perfect. I understood the server told me that the menu was changing the very next day, which was yesterday....I do hope they keep the barratta!
Food is always great. Have been here multiple times. The atmosphere is pleasant and is not noisy. The appetizers are good and the artichokes are wonderful. The salads are tasty and very fresh.
I love the bronzing. The veal chops are terrific as are the short ribs and lamb chops. Pasta's are special and can be shared as an appetizer
We had a lovely dinner with attentive service. The wild mushroom soup was outstanding for starter. The crispy skin wild salmon was done to perfection, the scallops with mushroom and asparagus risotto was done just right, and the wild boar and pasta was tasty as well.Everyone enjoyed desserts as well. We had a leisurely meal and were not rushed to leave for another seating. Noise level permitted conversation. All in all an excellent value.
Casta Diva was a great exerience, except for the noise level. It was loud and made it difficult to carry on a conversation at our table. Granted, only one or two tables seemed to breach etiquette, but the room itself looked "hard" and not able to absorb much noise/sound. The room also was quite full...good for the restaurant, not so good for any kind of discussion at the table.
My husband and I first shared the cesare salad, which was excellent. The only thing I would change is a bit of fresh lemon juice squeezed in there. The garlic was really nicely done! Then, we each enjoyed the same dinner special. It was the special bronzino, with a delicious white sauce and shrimp. Excellent!
Greeted warmly by staff. Service was 5 star. Appetizers out of the ordinary. Roasted artichokes delicious and calamari prepared with out deep frying... excellent. Entrees stellar: lamb chops, scallops, shrimp, sausage. We were all saying... here taste mine. Have a bite. The espresso and desserts completed a perfectly delightful dinner. We wondered why we had not dined at Casta Diva ... we will certainly return soon!
