Cast & Plow Ratings and Reviews
They have now rolled out a new Brunch Menu, while keeping some of the classics, THANK YOU! We tried one of the new appetizers and it was a taste explosion, (I cant remember the full name but there is a Parmesan crisp on top of a jar, Yummy) They certainly do Brunch & Lunch GREAT!
Had a reservation for New Year's Eve dinner. Everything was great. The food was solid and done well. Favorite was the black forest cake! Our server was nice. We had an early reservation so the crowd waiting for fireworks was non-existent. We basically had the patio to ourselves for nearly the whole dinner and we enjoyed the quiet and undisturbed view. Just a few nit-picky things that bothered me:
1. We noticed every table was offered complimentary champagne except for us.
2. Very aware that sitting for 3 hours for a 3 course dinner to watch the fireworks would have been ridiculous. Server (Josh) definitely did great to not make it obvious or awkward and left us alone with our coffee and refills for awhile until we decided to just go and watch the fireworks somewhere else. Which leads to the fact that...
3. Nobody told us there was a lounge to hang out in to watch the fireworks. Only found after the fact that we needed to use the restroom and saw a sign and inquired.
I have enjoyed the Cast and Plow for many years, especially for Brunch. This is why I thought it would be the perfect place for Christmas Dinner. WOW was I wrong!
Pumpkin soup was delicious
Pot roast too fatty and meat portion too dry
Potato side clearly had been sitting out too long
The deserts was beautiful presentation but selection was not as good as it looked
Overall the price was way too high for what was received and we were disappointed in the experience
I believe they should stick to their regular menu and not offer the prefixed menu EVER
Alcohol was both overpriced per glass and they poured a very small amount per glass making it ridiculously expense to drink wine there. My husband said that I cook pork better than the pork dish the restaurant presented him with (& I am not good in the kitchen!). Overall VERY overpriced for the quality of cuisine. We will not be returning there for any occasion.
Great service. Outdoor fine dining with a view of the harbor. Reliably great quality food at all Ritz Carlton’s. The wine list was outstanding & the sommelier offered me a pairing option that was wonderful. I was accommodated with my seating request, food preferences & wines options- the service was terrific!
Christmas Eve dinner so of course we were running behind. I left a vm we'd be 30 min late and we arrived then, were seated within two minutes. Service was friendly, available yet unobtrusive. A lovely time was had by all of us from first seating to after dinner relaxing outside in upholstered seating around our own fire pit overlooking the marina's various crafts decorated with holiday lights.
I wanted I nice place to go for Christmas Eve with friends. The food was very mediocre, both in options as well as execution. Nothing stood out as a must try. It seemed more like a basic hotel menu that was striving to please every possible desire without offering many actual dishes, and not mastering in anything. Plus the one thing that did sound good- the lamb special, was sold out. We weren’t notified of this till a half hour after we had ordered it. So we had to order a new dish and wait for that to be cooked. Wouldn’t have been a big issue if they were busy, but the place was less than half full. I don’t know why they were so slow. The services ws very nice but he seemed very uncertain of everything. I frequently eat at another hotel down the street that’s far less “known” and their food and staff is killer. Just something to think about
Everything about Cast & Plow was wonderful, except the cost. The food was delicious and the serving sizes more than sufficient. At an average cost of $25/glass, the cocktails are extremely high; particularly when the cost per plate averages $35. With appetizers, dessert and coffee, the price shot up over $300 for 2 people pretty quick. But the ambiance and well as the delicious food worked to make up some for the high cost. Would definitely recommend C&P for special occasion outings.
Had an amazing birthday dinner here on Oct 16th. I'm a picky eater and 7 1/2 months pregnant and this place surpassed my expectations. Everyone called us by our names from the Host, bartender and even waitress! Valet even parked our car for free! My husband enjoyed their drinks while the bartender made me a virgin berry mojito, so I didn't feel left out. Absolutely will be back in the future...
Decent restaurant in the ritz, very nice room with great view and lots of space. Fairly small menu, but most dishes done well, if not out of sight. Prices are more out of sight than food quality, so expect NYC prices, especially for wine which seems to do 400% markup. I give it four stars, but for the gorgeous space and high prices, everything shouldbe better.
I've dined at cast and plow several times this summer with my work and had more favorable prior experiences than today. I usually order tofu w my quinoa bowl. Not allowed today. Also it took over 45 mins for our entrees to arrive versus the table that was sat prior to us already enjoying their meal. The food was surprisingly sub par today. My companions had a lackluster chicken sandwich and a greasy chicken plate. Disappointed in overall experience.
EXCELLENT service, Farouk was perfect from beginning to end, meal was great, ambiance splendid, nobody rushed us, our two sons (18 and 21) going back to college and we had a memorable, quiet meal together, no electronics, no distractions. Beautiful view, all was perfect.
I've been here multiple times and the service never gets better - it only gets worse . I don't know if they are short of staff or they just don't hire people who care about giving good service. It's never really that busy there so I don't understand why the service is consistently poor. The food is over priced and underwhelming. After making the mistake of telling my waitress I needed another minute to decide - we waited another 10-15 minutes before someone who wasn't even our server even came back over. The food came out fairly quickly but was quite bland. The server finally stopped back over to see how everything was and to clear the plates - that my husband wasn't even done eating. After that. I one came back other than to fill out water and we waited nearly 20 minutes for our check. Another table got up very annoyed because they had also been waiting a long time. Beautiful restaurant and gorgeous views - but not worth the time or money when bad service and mediocre overpriced food is served. I won't be coming back.
This was my third time here with clients (lunch). The service was even worse this time. The food was excellent however. There's an air of arrogance and lack of attention to detail. There doesn't seem to be a lot of pride taken either. Just very nonchalant. Our food took a very long time (all three visits). No one seemed to care. No water or tea refills, unfriendly service. We didn't have all day and it was embarrassing to have this happen with clients that had a timeline to keep. Three times is enough. Done and will not return.
