Cast & Cru serves homemade American cuisine. We features seasonal ingredients grown in our on-site gardens. The food is fun and approachable.
Our bar serves meticulously selected wines from the top distributors and producers from around the world, as well as fine scotches, whiskey, and craft beer.
Located in the historic Old Log Theatre on 11 1/2 acres, we host theatre patrons, destination diners, and our neighbors in the Lake Minnetonka area.

Great restaurant...small menu, but what is on it is great.
I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats!!!!!!!
We loved the outdoor ambiance however were underwhelmed with the food. The portions were very small for price and the blood orange salad lacked flavor.
The burgers were a hit, however added up with fries, truffle, etc.
We really wanted to love our meals, but even the flatbread was a meh.
Absolutely and outstanding evening dinner. There were two couples involved in every one of our meals was exceptional. We look forward to coming back very soon. I’d give them more than five stars but that’s the most you can give in this opinion poll.

We have dined at Cast and Cru several times as well as held private events there. Each time we have been very pleased with the quality of the food and service. Every staff member has been attentive without rushing us. I LOVED the salad I ordered and inquired about the dressing. The chef took the time to come to our table and share the recipe with me.
If you are dining at Cast and Cru and the short ribs are on the menu, order them. They are delicious! That said, we have enjoyed every dish we have ordered.
The next time we dine there we are going to request the wine room for a small group of friends.

The menu on Open Table is not the menu they have at all check heir website for an updated menu. That is the only disappointment we ran inyo

First “indoor dining” since March. Felt very safe and comfortable with spaced seating near open screened windows. Food and service was excellent and ambiance very relaxing.

Food was amazing, don’t waste your money on desserts! $10 cupcake for carrot cake. Wasn’t good! I have never complained at a restaurant. Told the staff, the manager said we don’t set the prices. Not the normal desserts they have had in the past.
Jared the Head Chef and David the Waiter made for a very enjoyable and fun dining experience as we celebrated my wife’s birthday. Highly recommend Cast & Cru!
Owner parked his car in front of our table so that we could not enjoy the beautiful view. Otherwise, a wonderful outdoor place to enjoy very good food.
We really love your food and service and these days we appreciate most the ability to distance at your restaurant indoors or outdoors. It felt a bit noisy and more crowded than we liked near your bar seating on Friday, but thanks to your accommodating staff we were able to move into spacious backroom! Thank you!
On the grounds of a theater, lovely outdoor dining
Absolutely, positively, a hidden gem!! We so wish we would have tried this restaurant before, it’s truly a wonderful place to dine. Set back in a peaceful setting with a 100 year old log cabin on the grounds and seating options both indoor and outdoor. Love this place.

The setting is like a private park. It's a special place. The additon of Cast and Cru
has added great food and service. A place to relax and spend time. More of a experience
than just dining.
Met girlfriends for a much needed get together and had a wonderful evening! The food was excellent and our server David was fabulous! As important, we all felt extremely safe at Cast & Cru as they follow the covid procedures thoughtfully. Highly recommend for everyday dining as well as a special occasion. Enjoy!
Such a magical setting! Do yourself a favor and make the trip. Amazing food, great service, and an unbeatable magical forest vibe for outdoor seating. Very Covid safe, make the trip before the weather shuts down outdoor dining.
The corona virus has kept crowds down and forced reduction in the menu selection, but we have not been disappointed. There is always something new to try, and of course the short ribs are without peer. It was a relaxing evening.

Enjoyed a perfect evening outside overlooking their beautiful meadow. Best dining experience in Excelsior! If you haven't tried it you must - tables are a spread throughout so you feel as though you have a private dining experience.

I can't believe i've lived here for 4 years and had yet to experience this hidden gem. Lovely outdoor setting, amazing service and the best walleye i've ever had!
The hanger steak and short ribs were great, as usual. The special was a burger with gouda and prosciutto, but was presented as a small ball of burger with very little on the inside. The jalapeno and shrimp flatbread was too spacey hot to eat - not warned about the heat. However, we ate outside again and the outdoor setting with the log buildings and the park-like setting cannot be matched anywhere. We will most certainly continue coming to Cast & Cru. Thanks, RD

Hidden gem in Excelsior. The food was great, and the surroundings are gorgeous, making sitting outside quite a treat.
Excellent time. Had a wedding close by so came for a glass of wine and flatbread. Very Good Service..... Dave I think was our waiters name. Had a table on the cabin porch.... perfect for what we were looking for. Thank you

Cocktails were tasty and the food very good but we were rushed thru. Our waiter wanted our food order right away when he brought the drinks to us but then our food came before we were half way thru our cocktail we’d each ordered. Was not very relaxing at all.
Had an amazing experience for dinner. Very quiet, social distance, service (Dave) was exceptional and fun, food was fantastic and amazing atmosphere!
