We made our reservations on "open table". Won't do that again. We will call directly to get a table NOT in the bar area. Food was great, had the surf & turf special. Play was good. Thanks.
I would come back. A pleasant dining and theater night!
The food was tasty but the service gets slammed before the show so it was slow. Soup was warm not hot and two entrees were not hot. Venison medallions were room temp. Assumption was they were hot at one time and were just sitting around? Who knows.
We had an excellent waitress, sorry I can't remember her name, but she was so attentive and pleasant. Made sure all of our needs were met in a timely manner.
Dinner and a play. Great time at both! Staff was super good and the play was incredible.
Went here for convenience of the show and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was and the variety of dishes. Would definitely eat here again!
I have been here several times. Each time I go, the food is delicious, the wait staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. I will definitely be back!
Enjoyed lunch before the play at the Old Log Theatre. Great atmosphere, food and service. Highly recommend.
Easy to make reservations, welcomed and seated quickly.Awesome service and fantastic food! Would recommend to anyone! And will return soon!
Food was OK. Nice & clean restaurant with a good layout. Our waiter was lacking. His menu knowledge was poor and inaccurate plus he had improper timing when serving. The food runner seemed to have more experience; She was friendly and helpful. Also, our waiter knew nothing about the proper way to present and serve a bottle of wine. Very disappointed since that’s expected with an upscale dining experience and purchasing a nice bottle of wine.
We went there for Easter Brunch. The restaurant is pretty and was a lovely setting for Easter Brunch. The buffet was set up around the room so you weren't crowded. The food was good. Some of it was cold however.
Unfortunately, they were very understaffed and not prepared for the crowd. Our waitress was sweet, but very rushed. She was trying to take our order for drinks and omelettes while holding a stack of dirty dishes. We didn't see her often.
At one point, all of the plates at all 5 of the different stations were out, as well as several of the food items. The wait for more was quite long.
The topper was when a busboy walked behind my husband with a knife sticking out the jabbed him all the way across his shoulder blade. This happened because our table was in a main walkway into the dining room, where is was congested because of the dessert and salad buffet tables.
As the employees were all scurrying around, the atmosphere was very hectic and rushed. Not at all the leisurely Easter brunch I envisioned with my family:( I would be interested to know what it is like before a show. I would have thought they were used to crowds.
Easter brunch included a wide selection of foods served buffet style with the option to add eggs Benedict and/or a custom omelet from the kitchen. Everything was delicious! It was very busy, and we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation. I’m not sure if this was due to understaffing, overbooking, or patrons lingering more than usual because of the holiday.
Amazing food, best brunch ever. Cast & Cru never disappoints.
Easter Brunch was perfect. Our server David was attentive and great with our young children and family. It was a special time.
Our server was attentive without hovering. She was informative and helpful. The food was delicious, creative and better than expected. The finger limes with my salad added an unusual and welcome surprise. My friend had a burger with a side salad. She said it was the best burger she had ever ate. Her only suggestion was to serve the salad on a plate as it was impossible to mix the ingredients in the bowl. I gave ambiance a low rating only because the sun shines right in your face. Blinds would be especially welcome. Or bring your sunglasses.
We had a delightful family meal pre-theater. Great room wth late afternoon sun. Completely re-done since we were last there! Menu is interesting and different (great hanger steak and chicken) with lots of options including good gluten free choices (particularly for desert!). Really tasty vegetable options with every dish. Service was very good and we were well looked after. Be a little careful as we ended up racking up a much bigger bill than we anticipated but I think mid-week or if you were careful it would have been a a little more affordable!
This staple for theatergoers has upped its game considerably since our last visit. It deserves to be considered for non-theater evenings and later into the night. All 4 of our entree selections were above average to excellent. Service was attentive and cheerful. Deserts were creative and yummy.
My mom and I had lunch before a show. Great food, great atmosphere and great service.
The restaurant is lovely; the view we had is great. We had a bit of trouble with our first table: we needed to move away from a rather loud group because of the sensitivity of my husband's hearing aids. The staff was absolutely kind and quick and accommodating. We were comfortable and happy and then we had brunch. Fabulous! Two of us took our wait person Peter's suggestion about the salmon scramble and were quite delighted and sated. Good coffee. Good salad. A great way to start a day of theater. (Really good show!)
We really enjoyed our evening at Cast and Cru. Food was amazing and our server Tom did a great job. My only suggestion would be to offer more traditional bread or rolls - not a big fan of bread with raisins. Really didn't compliment the salads we ordered. But otherwise the experience was great.
Menu needs an update with some choices that are more classic. Nice to have specialty menu but sometimes you just want a really well prepared steak.
The food was fabulous I had the lamb and it was outstanding. Such a lovely setting as well.
Very good. If you are going to show, highly recommend it. It would be very good without
the show too.
I ordered the ahi tuna (regular menu item) and the tuna was cooked perfectly! Pictures were taken but I'm not able to attach them even though I've compressed them. I think a different presentation would show off the tuna much better. It was indistinguishable on the plate and the soy sauce reduction was not very appealing even though it tasted ok. My friend ordered the cioppino and I snapped a photo of that as well - similar comments about that. She raved about the flavor and the amount of seafood, though! Working on presentations to simplify them would be a benefit.
Was here last year had a great brunch before the show! This year- food was cold (everyone's meals) The server couldn't keep up and we had to wait and ask repeatedly for everything, Bloody Mary was asked for a second time when the meal was delivered. No spoons for cream/coffee and after asking two times finally one was brought near the end of the meal. No syrup for the waffles and by the time it was brought out waffles were cold. The syrup that was brought must have come right from the refrigerator as it was ice cold. Asked for eggs poached hard - the yolks and the whites were runny... There was nothing that was right with this meal- so disappointing. Thought about booking for Easter- no way after this meal
We had a delicious meal and a very efficient, personable server. We felt welcomed when we arrived.
Wife ordered lamb chops 4 ways. Lamb chops done perfectly, but were accompanied by two weird sauces that all but ruined the great job of grilling. I ordered the brisket. Again, it was cooked to perfection, but then totally ruined with a sour ketchuppy concoction that burned my nostrils and throat. The little biscuits served with the meal were awful, I'm guessing frozen and thawed out. At home I would have thrown them away. But at least they were free with the meal; the lemon meringue tart was more frozen garbage. This is the second of a total of two unpleasant surprises at Cast and Cru and the last for us. Say something good? Our waiter was competent, service was prompt and respectful but distant in demeanor. A glass of the Valpolicella is very good and priced right, but avoid the Sauvignon Blanc as totally underserving of the name; it's closer to white grape juice.
Great experience! Delicious food, very nice ambiance, attentive service. Love the bar, cozy feel. And the bonus is you can see a show after dinner! Owners warm and friendly. We will be back as often as possible!
My wife and I stopped in for brunch before an afternoon matinee at Red Log Theater. The selection is good and the food/drinks are reasonably priced on the brunch menu. Decor is just below upscale and the music was at an appropriate volume.
Where things fell apart was service. Our waiter was the one who seated us, left us sitting for 15 minutes, then decided to seat another table, order and serve their drinks to them before even taking our drink order. I had to stop him walking away from us to put in our order at all. I then asked him what they had for non-alcoholic beverages for my pregnant wife. He said they have "virgin bloody marys," and then stopped. He eventually decided they have soda and juice after my wife asked. My water was not ever refilled once during our visit, I wad not asked if I wanted another beer, my wife was never offered a soda refill until we were gathering our things to leave. I couldn't believe how rude this man was. If this is the type of person this business employs, I cannot recommend them to others, no matter how good the food is.
Wonderful food. Plenty of space so you could have a conversation at your table. Bar is great.
Great service and food - price seems a bit high compared to similar venues...
Cast and Cru was an unexpected find! The food was all very well prepared and tasty. We had the special Wednesday menu that included three courses with wine pairings. Each course was beautifully presented and fresh with a great combination of flavors. My favorite was the chicken tacos in a soft corn shell with vegetables. I was there with two girlfriends for a birthday celebration and the ambiance was perfect. Cozy and quiet with excellent service. I look forward to going back and trying them again!
They called us while we were driving there and cancelled our reservation. Stated, they did not know how our reservation came through as they blocked your site from booking any that night. They were sending staff home because of the snow storm.
My wife and I luckily found another place as we had a babysitter and were dressed up for date night.
We had an absolutely wonderful time! Food was fantastic for our party of 17. We will be back there for any special occasion in a minute. Highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We had tickets to the show, so it was a logical place to eat. Great service too!
We were celebrating wedding anniversary with friends , one 13 years the other 45 years. We love the limited but VERY high quality menu. Great wine selection, Good pour cocktails, Great appetizers Great Food, Great service and VERY good theater. We have been regulars for the last 3 years. We love the theater, but Cast & Cru is so good we often just do an evening meal and not theater
We were pleasantly surprised as we had never heard of it and being it was in a theater. The food was unique and portions fair (salmon was a little small) but boar and spaghetti had nice portions. I would say prices are a little on the high side. But overall it was very nice.
Excellent lamb and setting. Great waitress and enjoyable evening before the great play
Lovely meal. Rather expensive. Excellent service. Enjoyed ourselves. Went to an awesome play afterwards.
The food and service were fabulous! Will definitely be returning!
