Casserole Bistro Ratings and Reviews
A great find! Saw the reviews on OpenTable and decided to try. This is a cozy restaurant with attentive staff. The strips of warm bread with a touch of garlic butter were a great way to start the meal. The appetizers and entrees were equally delicious. Looking forward to coming back.
Delightful restaurant, a bit of a hidden gem. This was my 4th time over a period of a couple of years and will now make an effort to return sooner as the food is consistently good. Wait service attentive without being overbearing. Pleasant surroundings. Chef works to accommodate requests from guests. All around worth a visit. Parking a bit tough but there is a public lot not far from the restaurant.
Many interesting and innovative choices along with several "standards" for less adventurous diners! Excellent chef. We all enjoyed our meals as well as the diners sitting around us, most of them repeat customers. It is a BYO which we liked and we were set up very professionally...all food came beautifully presented as well. We also liked that the chef was flexible about substitutions. So...here is my pet peave. The ambience. The space is truly dreadful, at least to my interior designer eyes. It basically looks like a run down luncheonette and the tables do not have tablecloths, or attractive settings. Lots of tacky artificial flowers/decorations/tv (which wasn't on thankfully) I strongly feel that for the excellent quality of the food and service the decor could be easily and not too expensively improved to look like a cozy, warm, and inviting bistro. Please still go try the food and support these nice people, I intend to continue to recommend.
This was our third time here and as wonderful as the first. Salads were crisp, fresh and flavorful. There were 4 of us and we each chose a different entree. Everyone was most satisfied. My scallops were a generous size and oh so fresh.............perfectly cooked. Seafood risotto was most flavorful and quite fillling. Salmon was a bug hit as well. Even the simple veal parmeggian was satisfying. The service was attentive without being oppressive. I'd highly recommend this lovely bistro for dinner with friends or a cozy evening for 2.
Delicious food with a good variety of options! I had one of there small plates (mussels) and a salad (crab and avocado) both were delicious and the serving size was perfect. My friends enjoyed their dishes as well. Would definitely recommend this neighborhood gem.
If you can get past the ambience - which is not good - the food is fantastic, service excellent, and good value. Plus BYOB. But know going in you're going for the really excellent food and not the ambience of plastic menus, tv in the room, takeout menus at door, etc..
Planning on being in the area, Casserole Bistro's menu looked good. Hubby likes BYOB and Tapas. Casserole Bistro had both. We were very pleased. They take reservations for 2 and are on Open Table. Even better. This place is tiny, we counted 42 seats. We had a cozy table against the wall. We were greeted and seated and our wine was opened and water was served. Warm garlic bread from the oven. We decided to just go for it and ordered almost all of the small plates. Everything was great. Rice balls were delicious. Nice twist on escargot. Cheesesteak egg roll could have used more meat, all we tasted was dough and onion. Onion soup dumpling were really yummy, a nice spin on an old favorite. Tuna 3ways, so good. Mussels and yucca fries oh my. Stuffed mushrooms ended up coming home and were great reheated the next day. No room for dessert. We will definitely be back to try the large plates.
We chose this restaurant based on reviews and came away very disappointed. The food sounded better than it tasted. A Cesar salad with house made dressing including anchovies had no taste. Six adults shared many of the appetizers instead of ordering entrees and no one found anything that was fabulous. Stuffed mushrooms were o.k. as was the calamari. My granddaughter ordered the steak albeit without the topping and it was tasteless. Supposedly it was marinated, but the taste was bland especially for a skirt steak.
I wish we had had a better experience. The waiter tried hard to get everything right, but the kitchen wasn't on target. Maybe it was the chef's day off.
The restaurant was small and had a homey feeling to it. Very cute place! The food was delicious. The special was swordfish and whoever had it said they loved it. I had the filet mignon which was also very delicious. Our apps were very good as well especially the onion soup dumplings. I would go back again to try their other items. Service was also good. Towards the end it got slow as they only had two waiters and all the tables (about 10) were full otherwise they were great!
From start to finish the staff was spot on. They were very pleasant and accomodating and didn't disappoint whatsoever. The food was fantastic and the ambiance was great. I must have passed that place a million times and now have come to realize that place is a true gem.
We chose Casserole Bistro solely from the reviews on Open Table and were not disappointed. Our table for 4 was waiting for us when we arrived. The servers were pleasant and attentive. I especially appreciated it when we were told that is a large party being served, it is a one-chef kitchen, and there might be a wait. We ordered appetizers and enjoyed them with our wine before ordering the main course. This seemed to cut down on the wait time, and gave us a chance to "visit" with our friends.
The portions are satisfying, and the food was delicious. The only failure of the kitchen was a curdled creme brûlée. Yuk! And please, offer a refill on the coffee. Despite this ending, we will definitely return.
Food was bad. Had the mussels & they were inedible, however the sauce was good! There was not one mussel that had a body to it, just stringy pieces. After trying several, stopped eating. Salad was okay. Went with 2 friends& neither one liked what they ordered either. Was very surprised as the reviews were good & opentable highly recommended this place. We were also the ONLY people in the entire restaurant at 7:15 on a lovely Wednesday evening.
