Food was delicious. Server got confused on who got what, otherwise all was great.
Not a better place to eat for fine dining! And you can't beat the value. You have to remember that everyone is a student but I find that it makes the atmosphere interesting. I just had the BRAZIL menu - the menu was well planned, unique, and probably one of the best meals to be had in the Capital District!! Draw back is that it is hard to get a reservation but when you get there the service is extremely attentive and elegant!
It took 2 years to score this reservation but was worth the wait. The meal and service were outstanding.
Everything about this meal was over-the-top amazing. The quality and preparation showed expertise especially in the preparation, flavors and plating. My compliments to the students and their instructors. Comparable to a 5 star restaurant!
This is a fantastic program for all! Food is top notch and the staff is above par!
I’d heard about Casola Dining Room from friends for years, I finally was able to experience for myself what everyone was talking about. It was a very pleasant experience for me, from beginning to end. Our Server Madeline was very pleasant and answered our questions with patience’s and a smile.
The portions of the soup, entree and dessert were just right, the food was amazing! It was my first time having trifle and it did not disappoint, it was delicious.
Looking forward to coming back to check out a different country.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was superb; courteous, knowlegeable and attentive without being intrusive. Soup was not really hot enough for our tastes.
Picnic platter was wonderful. Fish fry was good, not great; but duck confit was really wonderful. We wish it was easier to reserve online.
Culinary school training ground so service (by people too young to be familiar with fine dining) shows. This is what the school is for so if this is not acceptable then not for you.
Normally we love going to the Casola dining room but on this occasion we were very disappointed. Both my husband and I ordered the salmon and it was completely undercooked! Our server did her best to make up for it by apologizing and bringing us an extra meal to take home but no-one above her ever came to our table to address the situation. Being that this is a learning environment, we felt that someone higher up than our server should have talked with us and looked into the situation in the kitchen. The rest of the meal was great as usual.
Our group of 5(1 was unable to come) thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on Thurs. 10/31/19. We love it there at the Casola Room. The problem is getting a reservation, probably won’t try until next semester. Fran B.
Culinary school training ground so if you expect a fine dining experience this is not for you as the staff are in training. The food is always the highlight as the program is very good.
The meal was delicious!! Everyone at the table loved their appetizer, meal and dessert. Service was very good, our server was very attentive. For me, music is a little on the quiet side. I did hear some Roy Orbison which we all enjoyed.
Highly recommend SCC! I'll be back soon.
Always an excellent experience to dine at Casola. Wish they would mark the menu when items are gluten free though.
The menu for this evening had many wonderful choices. Some of us had the salad and others had the empanada. Both were delicious. For the entree we all had the bourbon lamb which was quite large and again delicious. So were each of the desserts we enjoyed. The presentations were impressive. This was the best meal I have ever had at the Casola Dining Room.
Everything was wonderful except our main dishes were dry and over cooked.
The grilled cabbage was not grilled enough. Pork Mofongo was a bit dry. Red snapper was perfectly cooked. The sofrito shrimp was delicious. The chocolate cake and ice cream very good. Raspberry cream horn light and airy. Well worth the money overall. The students really try their best.
Every dish was delicious! The students work very hard to make sure you have everything you need.
Very good!
I visit Casola every fall and it's always a good experience. This year I became gluten sensitive and it now is the driving force in any restaurant I go to. At Casola I ask the wait staff to ask the chef for foods that are gluten free and get the response. However, I don't think the chef is being asked because a decorative piece of food looked suspicious and I asked them to double check. Sure enough it had a gluten coating. It was easily removed but it could not have been noticed and it really doesn't take much for me to get a reaction. My suggestion is that the menu be marked with items that are gluten free. There would be no mistake if that was done.
always enjoy casola and supporting the college. very happy with the new menus.
must mention their soups. always outstanding. they try so hard to please while learning.
We have attended the dinner service several times and every time we have had a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and well prepared, the student waitstaff are all focused on doing their best, and the supervisors/teachers in attendance ensure everything runs smoothly. We always get an excellent meal & experience for the price.
Everyone in our party really, really enjoyed their meal!!! Our server seems nervous and a little unsure of herself, but she's just learning. Everytime we needed something she was right there. We were seated near the window and it was cold. So next time we will all be wearing our heavy sweaters or jackets. I know you have to take care of what music is played in the background with people having different taste, but I don't particularly like the music played. Maybe you could change it up a little. Italian maybe Frank Sinatra, England the Beatles, California the Beach Boys, and so on. Overall, I love dining at SCC, we always have a great meal and good conversation.
Folks who get in need to know it's a learning experience for the students -- so service might not be spot on, but it is so worth the value! I love the changing menus. I especially love the dedication to fresh and local ingredients wherever possible. Keep it up SCCC!
Loved the food and had so much fun with our server Marie D!
Excellent meal celebrating New England. Compliments to Chef Courtney and her students for yet another five star meal. The flavors of every course were a symphony in my mouth and absolutely masterful!
One of the very best meals I’ve ever had. Having said that, however, the entree I chose was supposed to be pan seared scallops. Plural. I had a singular scallop. Now, the taste of the entire meal was very, very good. But to say the meal was accurately portrayed, hmm, I think not. A bit skimpy from the salad to the misnamed entree. My dining partner’s meal by contrast was three times the size of mine. Lol. My luck. Partner had the shrimp appetizer and pork chop. Truly worth the cost. I feel I loved my meal but not the cost for what I had. Surely one more scallop would not have broken the bank. 😋
Everything was fantastic. We enjoyed the evening and our friends were extremely enthusiastic. The waiter for our table seemed ill at ease and did not communicate effectively with us. Hopefully his confidence will improve.
Nice night out. Especially for a Monday.
We wish getting a seat was easier, open table is often booked.
Students are much better in the kitchen(my fish was cooked perfectly) than they are in the dining room. Students need to learn the correct serving side, leave pens with the bill and, in some cases, how to serve wine.
This was my second visit to the Casola Dining Room. We had the same server as the last time.
However, he didn't check out my meal before serving it and left the vegetable off my plate. When I pointed this out, he took my plate, returned it to the kitchen and came back with the same plate and an additional small plate with the vegetable on it. It was very awkward trying to eat from two different plates. Other than that, it was a very pleasant experience.
Enjoy coming here, each time is a pleasure.
This was my first experience at the Casola Dining Room, and I was very impressed. From the formal table settings, the excellent service, the delicious food and the overall ambiance, my guest and I were treated like "royalty". Congratulations to the chefs, bakers and servers for a job well done. I would definitely recommend the Casola Dining Room to family and friends. I only wish it was a bit easier to get a reservation.
Food, service and value were incredible. Wait staff were attentive. Food was excellent and well presented.
Amazing dinner, the food was excellent! The Bucatini all’Amatriciana was truly THE BEST I’ve ever had!!! Everything was delicious from start to finish including the Veal Chop and desserts. Our friendly and attentive server Sondra was very good as well.
The entire dining experience was excellent ! Atmosphere, food and service were very nice! I would recommend this restaurant to family and friends. I try to go there at least once each semester. A treasure not to miss!
Each course of Brazilian food was delicious. The fish in the stew was cooked to perfection, not overdone. This is the second time I have had fish at Casola and each time it was done wonderfully. The kitchen graciously accomodated the needs of two of our party who were unable to eat spicy food.
Keep up the good work!
We enjoy trying the different menus options.
Food is well portioned. Everyone works hard .
GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE AS ALWAYS WILL BE GOING BACK SOON
Always a wonderful time. Great food and value. Will go back again.
Our group of 6 had a lovely lunch with attentive service. My salmon was cooked exactly the way I requested, not overdone. Food presentation was very nice.
