Cask Ratings and Reviews
Beyond disappointed. Looked like a cool place, menu looked fun and drinks looked delicious. Interior was kind of cool, get to our table and the seats were full of crumbs. We started to brush them off thinking the host would offer another table or clean it off for us. Nope! Ordered 2 drinks that should have been pretty much all bourbon and they tasted like simple syrup. Got the filet Benedict, steak was paper think and all fat, English muffin was burnt to a crisp but the egg was poached nice. Potatoes were tasty but cool to the touch. French toast tasted like a funnel cake and the grease after taste was gross. Ordered a couple drinks that are infused with cigar smoke thinking it would be a nice after brunch drink and clear the fried taste out of our mouths and nope, another fail. Just bland watered down bourbon is all. Had to wait forever to get our tab and while we waited, we looked around and noticed all the tables around us had tons of food left while they were paying...skip this place!
We went for brunch with our 11 month old. We were seated upstairs and rather liked it. Our server was great at first but we were her only table upstairs so she became MIA. The coffee she brought was warm, at best. Another server ended up getting us more coffee, a knife and our check. The other issue I had was with my order: eggs Benedict with filet medallions. The meat had fat in it, was difficult to cut and frankly tough to eat. My conclusion is it was filet, which is fine but say that and don’t charge like it is. Loved the atmosphere and our second server was super friendly. We’d go back but it left a tough taste in my mouth, so to speak.
The place was very loud and kind of a mess when we walked in for an 8:30 reservation. Lots of tables with plates sitting on them that needed cleared. Not a good impression at first. Also very loud. However, once we were seated our waitress was great and the food was very good. Shrimp and Grits were amazing. On the app side I really liked their tomatoes capri. Also had some good craft beers on tap.
Went on a Thursday about 4:30 pm. The valet guys tried to force us to valet or told me i could park in the street. There was ONE other car in the entire parking lot. All parking spots are about 10-20 feet from the door. We decided to just leave instead. When when told him this. He let us park. (I could understand if they were busy). Anyway...the hostess was great, she let us pick our table. The decor inside the place is spot on amazing. It happened to be happy hour app/drinks. We got a few of each. The deviled eggs are amazing and the taco trio is mouthwatering flavor in each and every bite. I ordered a French 75 and the bartender did my disappoint. I will be back as long as the valet guys are not rude again.- when we left they only had 4 cars in lot! We were gone by 5:45 before the big dinner rush.
During our experience at Cask, our waitress was fairly absent and we waited long for everything. 20 minutes after ordering our meal I was told that the kitchen was out of the dish I had ordered, then, 10 minutes after ordering another dish I was again told that they were also out of that entree. I was disappointed in this, however, the other dishes we ordered were tasty as well as the cocktails. I enjoyed the unique atmosphere.
The food was good but they undercooked my filet. I sent it back twice. By the time I got my steak cooked the way I ordered it, the rest of my food was cold. Without asking, they took a small percentage of my bill. However, $4 service recovery on a $95 bill is laughable.
I am pleased to give Cask the best possible review. Our server, Cassandra, was outstanding. She was prompt and made recommendations based on our questions. She even sent the bartender over to our table when we asked how to make one of Cask’s specialty cocktails! Our food arrived in good time and was cooked to order: I ordered the 8 oz filet medium rare, and it was perfect. The truffle mac & cheese, which I requested as an additional side, was so good it took my breath away. I went to Cask on New Year’s Eve, because it was one of the few restaurants in Tampa that had reservations available and was offering a full menu (in addition to a fixed price menu), but I can’t wait to and definitely will go back!
I’d been here previously with my girlfriend and her mother. It was great then, and it’s great now.
I took my parents who were visiting me from Australia. I noticed from my first experience at Cask that they offer a nice variety of food, with all dishes having an outstanding presentation.
Our host was new, maybe two weeks of working at Cask, and fair dinkum, he knew everything from the ingredients to the history of the Cask since being remodeled within the past few years. He was very attentitive, modest, and thoughtful. I don’t recall his name, but he mentioned he was from Chicago. Go Cubs.
The restaurant has a rustic/industrial look with a warm and dark ambience inside. It has been thoughtfully designed with details such as the retro Edison lightbulbs to the industrial (but somehow modern) piping on the brick walls. The outside homes a broad wooden porch to dine and is pleasant too.
My only caveat is that if you choose to sit inside, and dine in the evening time, it is quite dark, to the point where I had to use the flash on my phone to clearly read the menu, but that is minor, and shouldn’t take away from the wonderful servicing and overall experience at Cask.
Brunch is probably one of my most favorite pastimes, and so when the weather calls for 80 degrees with a chance of sunny in mid-November, you take advantage. Cask had the perfect outdoor patio to enjoy the weather and tunes (there was a DJ spinning a lot of great classics and a variety of genres). My friend and I opted out for the bottomless mimosas due to our festivities the night before and ordered a delicious blackberry bubbly cocktail instead. It came in a mason jar in true Southern fashion and had the right balance of sweet and tart. I ordered the steak and eggs, which came with a sweet potato hash and choice of toast or English muffin. I substituted for a biscuit instead which came with strawberry jam. The biscuit was definitely the right way to go, and can be ordered as a side as well. My friend ordered the skillet, which she thoroughly enjoyed, evidenced by her clean plate (unfortunately not pictured). I will definitely be back, especially for the bottomless mimosas.
Great brunch menu for weekends. Cranberry mimosa is excellent. All brunch items were reasonably priced and delicious with generous portions. Someone in are party ordered the shrimp and grits and really liked them. My chicken and waffles were good as well. Extremely friendly server and attentive. Would definitely go again.
I was extrememly impressed with Cask. From the free valet service as soon as you get there, to the amazing food and drinks, to the awesome DJ they had the Sunday I went for brunch. It is the perfect place for Sunday brunches. Thoroughly impressed and would recommend to anyone! Will be going back again!
I love the food/drinks and ambiance of Cask! But, let's just say, we don't go there for the service. The wait staff needs some serious training... greeting tables, costumer service/really just being friendly and not robotic, knowing the menu, etc. Every time we leave Cask (I've probably been there at least 8 times) we say the same thing about the service, so I decided to leave a review this time. Hopeful it might bring about some change.
