Cask Ratings and Reviews
I’d been here previously with my girlfriend and her mother. It was great then, and it’s great now.
I took my parents who were visiting me from Australia. I noticed from my first experience at Cask that they offer a nice variety of food, with all dishes having an outstanding presentation.
Our host was new, maybe two weeks of working at Cask, and fair dinkum, he knew everything from the ingredients to the history of the Cask since being remodeled within the past few years. He was very attentitive, modest, and thoughtful. I don’t recall his name, but he mentioned he was from Chicago. Go Cubs.
The restaurant has a rustic/industrial look with a warm and dark ambience inside. It has been thoughtfully designed with details such as the retro Edison lightbulbs to the industrial (but somehow modern) piping on the brick walls. The outside homes a broad wooden porch to dine and is pleasant too.
My only caveat is that if you choose to sit inside, and dine in the evening time, it is quite dark, to the point where I had to use the flash on my phone to clearly read the menu, but that is minor, and shouldn’t take away from the wonderful servicing and overall experience at Cask.
Brunch is probably one of my most favorite pastimes, and so when the weather calls for 80 degrees with a chance of sunny in mid-November, you take advantage. Cask had the perfect outdoor patio to enjoy the weather and tunes (there was a DJ spinning a lot of great classics and a variety of genres). My friend and I opted out for the bottomless mimosas due to our festivities the night before and ordered a delicious blackberry bubbly cocktail instead. It came in a mason jar in true Southern fashion and had the right balance of sweet and tart. I ordered the steak and eggs, which came with a sweet potato hash and choice of toast or English muffin. I substituted for a biscuit instead which came with strawberry jam. The biscuit was definitely the right way to go, and can be ordered as a side as well. My friend ordered the skillet, which she thoroughly enjoyed, evidenced by her clean plate (unfortunately not pictured). I will definitely be back, especially for the bottomless mimosas.
Great brunch menu for weekends. Cranberry mimosa is excellent. All brunch items were reasonably priced and delicious with generous portions. Someone in are party ordered the shrimp and grits and really liked them. My chicken and waffles were good as well. Extremely friendly server and attentive. Would definitely go again.
I was extrememly impressed with Cask. From the free valet service as soon as you get there, to the amazing food and drinks, to the awesome DJ they had the Sunday I went for brunch. It is the perfect place for Sunday brunches. Thoroughly impressed and would recommend to anyone! Will be going back again!
I love the food/drinks and ambiance of Cask! But, let's just say, we don't go there for the service. The wait staff needs some serious training... greeting tables, costumer service/really just being friendly and not robotic, knowing the menu, etc. Every time we leave Cask (I've probably been there at least 8 times) we say the same thing about the service, so I decided to leave a review this time. Hopeful it might bring about some change.
My husband had the biscuits and gravy and I had the steak and eggs. Unfortunately our food was over cooked and more like diner food at outrageous prices. The steak was burnt on the outside, very chewy. Eggs had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit so they were very dry. We live north of Tampa so when we get a chance to eat downtown we take it. Scratching off the list.
My first time at Cask, overall the experience was very nice. The food was really good. Their mason jar punch beverages taste like different variations of martinis; if you like martinis then try the mason jar drinks/punches. I switched my to drink to a standard go "Hurricane", it was okay however I think the bartender is probably excellent at making the drinks listed on their drink menu but when it comes to ordering off menu he could use a little help. Overall I would definitely recommend Cask for your dining pleasures and you have to judege the drinks for yourself.
Made a reservation for 2 before hand. When we arrived we requested to be outside they could sit us outside but we had to leave in an hr and 15 min for the next party. When we got outside their were multiple open tables but they sat us right by the door. We asked if we could sit at another table but we're told we couldn't. We ended up at the bar. Food and food service was good but the host/seating staff was not accommodating and rude about our requests. I wouldn't go again for brunch.
Great dining experience. We ordered the truffle deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes caprese appertizers. The eggs were delicious! The green tomatoes had a nice crunch on the outside with an awesome balsamic vinagrette. I originally ordered the crab stuffed ravioli but was later told that they were out of it, my only disappointment of the night. Got the seafood carbonara, very good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My friend is a very picky eater and she said she would come back. That is a great compliment!
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED ! ! ! Took almost 30 minutes after ordering to tell us they ran out of one of the dishes... waitress never came back to see what replacement dish we were going to choose to eat WITH OUR TACOS... took 40 minutes to make (4) tacos... Short staffed and no manager on duty.
I called the manager the next day to share my experience (I believe you can't improve/fix problem if you do not know of the problem). She (one of the managers) told me she was sorry but wanted the general manager to talk with me. I was supposed to get a call the next day but that was weeks ago.
Unfortunately one of our meals came out with wax paper in it and my eggs were completely over cooked. We were all disgusted by the wax paper so we didn't eat our meals. This was our first time here and they comped our meals but charged us for our drinks. They should have comped the entire bill and maybe we would go back. On a good note this is no reflection of the server, he was amazing!
I loved our food and enjoyed the wait staff! The problem with the restaurant this time if year is the dining room is HOT! OMG! They have to open the "doors" to the open patio and the WHOLE restaurant heats up! It's 94 degrees out there! Not enough circulation can compensate for that heat! They need to contact a good AC group and remedy that situation NOW! It'll cost business in the long run.........at least during the hot months and in Florida that's April to November!
Figure it out! It really made the wonderful food less remarkable!
Food was great and the service was great, however it was too hot. They kept telling me that it was because the doors to the front porch were open, but being in the Hvac business for over 30 years, the problem is poor design someone did not take the time to consider that these doors would be open, and there are options on how to keep the air in and not let it out into the open. If this was my business I'd be suing the contractor who put the system in.
