Cask Republic - Stamford Ratings and Reviews
We were grateful and relieved to have had a table in the back room, where it was much quieter. The front room was full of Friday night revelers, which was fine but we would not have been happy to sit and have a meal there. Other than that, food was great, our waiter was wonderful, and we had a lovely time celebrating my son's 30th birthday. Because of the back room space, we were able to linger and enjoy the food and each other's company. Would definitely recommend.
While the bar scene was loud and lively by 9:30pm on a Friday night, the back area near the working fireplace is great for having a conversation over drinks, tapas or dinner. Service was amazing and the menu offered a wide range of choices. Plenty of parking options. I would definitely recommend it and return!
We went to Cask Republic in Stamford for an early dinner birthday celebration for my husband and enjoyed it very much. The ambience and service were excellent with the fireplace all aglow and Christmas tree and decorations setting the holiday mood and with just the right volume and selection of music - suited to all ages at our table (from high school senior to a senior senior grandmother and my husband and I somewhere in the middle). We all enjoyed our entrees as well as the small plates before and desserts after. Interesting that Entree and Dessert choices seemed a bit limited, but still and all we all had something different and thoroughly enjoyed just about every bite! We will surely enjoy returning to Cask Republic!
Very poor to no management that night. We reserved a dining time 1.5 hours before the performance. We told our waiter we wanted the prix fixe dinner associated with a promotion with the local theatre. They knew we were on a tight schedule. The waiter DID NOT MENTION they were short staffed in the kitchen. We shared our appetizer after waiting 45 minutes to get it. It was the only food we had. We had 20 minutes before the performance and still hadn't received our entree. WE CANCELLED THE MEAL, paid for the shared appetizer and 1 soda and left!! AWFUL experience.
We were there for dinner on a Thursday evening. The sound level was absolutely painful when we entered. Fortunately there were some tables in a back room which was quieter. The grilled brussel sprouts were not grilled, uncooked and had no flavor. The $16 burgers we ordered were the size of sliders with no tomato, lettuce or cole slaw and the fries on both our plates were terribly overdone. Fortunately there are tons of other restaurants in Stamford, CT to try next time.
Love the menu and had been to the Norwalk Cask before. Our meal was unpleasant because of a table near us with two VERY loud and obnoxious women who screamed the entire time we were there. They were not asked to tone it down and it made it impossible for us or the other 6 tables around them to hear each other at all. I would not return to the Stamford location.
One of the several in the chain.
Great beers, but not as varied or unique as the Restaurant used to have. Solid straightforward American pub food. Good food. Undercooked interior - feeling of "we just wanted to get on the market fast". It may not be that important, but it's unpleasant. Somewhat amateurish, but still friendly service
The food was outstanding. 100% recommend.
The cocktails were mediocre and overpriced. My drink was essentially a giant ice cube with very little liquid. However, the beer selection looked impressive, so I would recommend the bar for the beer.
We opted for a table rather than a booth, and the area with the tables was extremely loud. I felt like I had to shout to be heard. The booth areas looked like they would have been quieter.
Overall, it was a good choice for dinner, and I would recommend it to others.
Open dining space with a mix of table and booths . Large bar area. Casual but modern décor. Service was quick and responsive. Food was fresh and well seasoned. Delicious.
Plenty of great options for beers on tap and bottles. I will return whenever in the area.
We were seated at 3pm for Mothers Day brunch. We found out the the brunch ended at 3 and so the reservation shouldn't have been taken in the first place. By that point many of the selections were already gone or left with a few crumbs. The individual cost was rather high considering the range of food available. Finally, we felt rushed by the wait staff as they attempted to turn the room while we were still eating.
Wanted a central spot with a good beer list and nice ambiance. Made a reservation through Open Table, and then got into town earlier than expected. Called and they were happy to move up our reservation by an hour, even during the Friday crush. Promptly seated in the dining room behind the main bar. Lovely ambiance - great vibe, fireplaces, really a chill spot. A few luxurious couch/sitting areas for a lounge vibe, and while I guess the main dining room was a little loud the room we were in was filled with people but super quiet and romantic. Our server, April, was super sweet. She and the team did a stupendous job. She started navigating me through the impressive beer list, and knew her stuff. It was restaurant week, so they had a price-fixe special menu, but everything was interchangeable and could be mixed and matched. I started with a local CT double IPA from Beer'd Brewing, Dogs & Boats, and it was great. Wife started with a bourbon maple cocktail she was a fan of. As our appetizers we went bavarian pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. Classic and delicious. Also the octopus bruschetta with roasted veal Bone Marrow, pepperonata on toasted Brioche was fantastic. Cool combination of flavors. Entree-wise my wife enjoyed the Freebird, a pan seared half chicken with baby bok choy, duck egg fried rice in a pineapple soy glaze. It has all the certified humane, antibiotic free situation going for it, as well. I was torn, because one of the specialties of the house is the lamb pastrami reuben but the special menu had chicken fried steak. I went with the recommendations, again, and had the lamb pastrami reuben. It was good, but the lamb kind of overpowered and somewhat muddled the rest of the flavors. Good but not great. Wife also enjoyed the boozy mulled cider, which was perfect for a cold winter night. Awesome spot, if and when we are in Stamford again we will be back. Really impressed. Thanks for an amazing time.
We've been to Cask Republic many times and the food is always outstanding. The chef had particularly wonderful specials for Valentine's Day and the upcoming menu for Stamford Restaurant Week is head and shoulders above the offerings provided anywhere else. Most Restaurant Week menus are just watered down versions of the restaurant's everyday menu but not at Cast Republic. We already have our reservation made for that week. Service is always attentive without being intruding. This is one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Stamford.
