Cask 'n Flagon is a small neighborhood bar with a famous reputation. Popular with diehard Red Sox fans, college students, locals and tourists, it is not a surprise it was voted as one of the top baseball bars in the nation by ESPN and as a DigThis Award winner for four years. Offering much more than typical bar fare, Cask 'n Flagon has an array of foods from New England clam chowder, Meatball Pomodoro to Chicken Saltimbocca and fish tacos.
Cask 'n Flagon offers a comfortable atmosphere that is perfect for company and birthday parties, business lunches, Red Sox games and anything else that suits your fancy. The bar turns into a 21+ nightclub every Saturday and Friday that features a huge dance floor, state of the art sound and light system and 12-foot projectors. It promises to be a fun time!
The drinks, food & wait staff was great for our large group on Friday, 8/21. With members of our group arriving at varying times, we had a great spot in the corner overlooking Fenway to gather in. We had plenty of table space as well as standing room to move around & visit with each other. Our waiter was very attentive to the group & made sure we got everything we needed during out visit.
A big thanks to the Cask & Flagon Team!
Burgers and buffalo mac and cheese were surprisingly good, though it was very difficult to hear conversation because of the noise. Nice having so many sports screens, being right next to Fenway before game. Just wish there was some air conditioning...very, very warm inside. Waitstaff was understandably busy, food was slow but drinks were reasonably refilled.
This was our first vista, but it won't be the last. We went on age day and were lucky to have made
reservations, without them, I don't think we would have gotten a table, so plan ahead, its worth the effort. Surround yourself with excited Baseball fans, Sox fans and visiting teams. Great start to the you outing. Food was very good, service was outstanding.
Cask 'n Flagon ... anda Sox game ... a great combination.
This bar was recommended by a friend when I told him that we were traveling to Boston. It's directly across the street from Fenway Park and a hot spot for the baseball crowd so getting a reservation could be a problem depending on game time. We actually had reservations for 4:00 PM on the day we went. We arrived about 45 minutes early. As the time for the Red Sox game had been changed from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the restaurant wasn't too busy. We told the hostess that we had reservations but were early and that seemed to confuse her a bit but we were seated immediately. I had the Fenway burger and a beer and the burger was excellent. The menu said that the burger was served with pickle chips but neither I nor my dining companion received them. The service we received was prompt but the waiter, while not rude, wasn't particularly friendly either. None of the complaints I had, however, would stop me from recommending this establishment. The food was good, the place was clean, there are a lot of TV's to follow the games and the ambiance was excellent as it is so close to Fenway. Overall, it's a real treat.
This bar grill allows visitors to be part of Fenway even when a game is not going on, the food was fresh and well prepared. We went home with their homemade BBQ sauce. Would visit again!
Great to have dinner after the Red Sox game. Salads were really good.
Menu varied so as to please 3 genration dinner out.
We felt very welcome there and appreciated the several phone calls confirming our reservations during the day. It was great to feel that the restaurant wanted our business. It was a wonderful dining experience with just the right amount of energy before a Red Sox game, especially for a group of Southerners!
We will tell everyone that comes to Boston to have a meal or two here!
Thanks for the hospitality and dining experience!
The Smith's with the Mississippi Junior Simmental Association
We had beef for dinner.....and we are beef raising cattleman!
19 people from Mississippi eat in less than 1hr . Table ready. Great service accurate and on time. I never been anywhere any quicker and nicer. Great food and good prices.
Great food , great service, good menu Too noisy. Bar crowd , I guess it's to be expected. I'd go back.
The food was outstanding. The service was ok. The waiter looked to have a shirt on from the night before. But overall very good food and atmosphere.
The waiter and staff were nice. They handled the food pretty well. The food was good. I would recommend it to family and friends . Good for before Red Sox games.
The Cask n' Flagon is already known as the best baseball bar in America, but it is better because of the food. Many of the "best of" restaurants lose something over time. I do not think that the C&F has lost anything. My wife and I enjoyed some very unusual items prepared by the chef and his staff that tasted unbelievably fabulous. We had a Buffalo Dip made of just the perfect blend of cream cheese, Buffalo sauce and shredded chicken. We also had the Philly cheese steak spring rolls. What? Once again unbelievable and then we had their smoked pulled pork sliders. Also, don't miss their beer list. I had a beer from Framingham, MA that was a little bit spicy and refreshing. But the most attractive reason to go is the location. It is immediately across the street from the Green Monstah. This place cannot be beat and I should know. We have been to 23 major league baseball stadiums.
Our server Miles was very personable and knowledgeable. Service was quick. The appetizers were big enough for two people to share. The food was excellent. We will be back.
First thing ya notice is its proximity to Fenway but being it was the middle of winter it was slow and service was quick. We had the mussels for our appetizer and it was outstanding. The fish tacos were the best I've had anywhere...BBQ pulled pork was also good but not the same level as the fish tacos.
Would recommend highly. Eat well!
Had reservation to watch Patriots AFC game, promptly seated with view of a TV. Service was great!
Service was excellent on a very busy Saturday evening. Noise level was in my opinion excessive as we could barely hear the waiter as about our drink order. Service was very prompt and efficient as we had to attend a show immediately after dinner. Everyone enjoyed the variety of foods offered,
The place was nice and since I went there once before I knew what to expect. Good food, good service, and a good time.
Our waiter either was new or horrible or overworked . We constantly had to flag him down . I will not be going back there .
Nice sports bar to eat and watch your favorite sporting event or eat close to Fenway or close to BU.
A really fun and lively restaurant with very good food. Festive atmosphere makes it an nice spot to meet friends for a bite.
Server was definitely busy and a little shy, but nothing to complain about. The food was prefect. I got the rib eye the Saturday night I went. It was seasoned perfectly and the temperature on the cook was great. Definitely would go again!
Had reservations - had to wait in long line and table not ready when arrived. Disorganized check-in process at the door. New waiter that did not bring us any drink refills and very slow to even check on us. Mediocre food - nachos were pasted to plate and soggy under cheese. Could not seem to get water glass refilled after asking. Just not a great choice at all. Later I even had a stomach ache - wish I had eaten at the ballpark as it would have been better.
Reservation was on time, food was very good pub-fare, waitress was very nice.
Typical bar food and mediocre service. Best thing going for this place is the location to Fenway. Just be prepared to wait a bit on game days.
From out of town and was recommended this restaurant before we visited Boston. Make a reservation especially if there is a baseball game taking place and you planned on sitting down and ordering food. Great food great service great place.
Five of us ate at the Cask n Flagon in Boston before a Sox game. Everyone was very happy with their meals. We were seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. Service was fine, even though it was very busy. I recommend the brisket - it was really tender and tasty.
I had made a reservation a number of weeks ago, and as it turned out, I really didn't need one. In fact the greeters and wait staff didn't seem to know what a reservation was. Regardless, we actually got in early so it worked out real well. Our server was courteous and friendly. Since I had attended many previous games at Fenway, we decided to forego buying tickets, and watch the game from your establishment. It worked.
My reservation was meaningless as they basically sat my sons and I at the first available in the order we arrived. Greeters were unfriendly and seemed bothered to be there! Everything else OK, but nothing to write home about! We hustled to get there by cab because we wanted to be assured of making our reservation (we had tickets for the game). Next time in Boston we will look elsewhere for dinner spots...too bad because it is a great location.
C&F never disappoints and always delivers quality food quickly and in a friendly manner by an excellent wait staff!
Gluten free options were fab! Went before game at Fenway w/kids. made a resey before & we were seated on time, food Delish, atmosphere fun, server was a bit overwhelmed bc it was packed, but he was patient. Made for an yummy, lively pregame spot for our family!
Great place for drinks and food after a game. Very loud but service was good.
Great food, got extremely busy due to Red Sox game , service was good but a bit slow, agin due to being so busy. friendly and curitious
With a name like Cask & Flagon we didn't know what to expect - maybe an Irish Pub? or a Gin Mill?
But the food menu was very broad - honestly some of the best BBQ we've had outside CT. The Fish Tacos were also praised.
The restaurant is right across the street from Fenway. So we were also pleased to find that even on a game night, where we arrived 40 minutes after our reserved time, they made an effort to prioritize us and get us a table.
So the night couldn't have been better - until the Cubbies completed the sweep of the BoSox with a 16-9 route!
Come for the experience but stay for the food.
Enjoyed a pre game meal with my husband to our first Fenway visit. Good food!! Fun baseball/sports atmosphere. Lots of TVs.
made a reservation specifically to ensure we had a seat to watch World Cup game before the Sox game; unfortunately, restaurant did not account for our (and a few others) reservation. After fruitless wait, headed down the street to Yard House for an awesome late lunch and viewing experience
Z B Band was performing so many people were around-why I MADE a reservation to begin with. Reservation @3:45pm. Gave my name she took out the reservation list- very short. The waiting list (different list) was VERY long. We were next Great! We were early so we waited. Checked back a few times. Watched many people be seated. At 4:20 she said "You haven't been seated yet?" No.The other girl who pulled out the reservation list.My name was near the top(not crossed off), 8-10 were below mine crossed off. I said" were they seated before us?"She was quick on her feet and said none were parties of 4(most tables were for 4)Really?Seated t 4:35pm.Why bother? Why take a reservation if you don't honor it.Would have been seated much faster without it!
Good food and atmosphere. Went before a concert so it was hectic and that was expected, though staff could have been more friendly.
Perfect place to go before a concert or a game - great food, drink and service
