We had great spicy mojito, and spicy Old Fashioned cocktails, both unique and delicious. We had a tapas dinner with a delicious mixed salad, spicy grilled shrimp, delicious spicy gazpacho, a whole kernel corn-based side, and we shared a Cuban wrap for a light main course. Five dishes total for two people was a great meal. Our waitperson was attentive, but not smothering, and he had great advice regarding the menu. The combination of Spanish, Cuban, and Mexican flavors and presentation was wonderful. They serve a soft, focacia-like bread, with a tasty oil flavored with minced cilantro (?) and tomatillo (?) that was addictive, too. I even messed up our reservation, and we showed up exactly 24 hours early. The gracious hostess was able to seat us anyway, although they were quite busy. For us, this was a great find!
Food was good. Service was not. Waiter was missing in action and at one point came to the table with his mouth full having just eaten in the back. Not impressed with service but the paella was good.
Very good quality of food and innovative dishes. Ask for help with the specifics of the menu and be sure to ask how many dishes to order, as you can over do it, or under do it, if you don't know how big a portion the item will really be.
The Octopus was amazing - I highly recommend that dish in particular.
Service was friendly and efficient.
Choose a table by the window if you can.
Bad service. Had to ask several times just to get water...Which was served even after we got our food. Entree overpriced. Ask three different times before we are able to get the bill. One of our kids 11 yr old, just couldn't wait any more...Had to take a walk outside. One of the worst wait in years...We eat out at least a few times each week and that shows how bad this place is.
The tapas were excellent, flavor explosions in quantities for two to easily share. Our waiter was wonderful. He was able to advise us regarding how much to order. We let him know we had a play to attend. He got us there on time without feeling rushed. The decor is colorful and fun. We plan to take our adult children to Cascal when they are in town.
Our group of 7 came to Cascal celebrate a graduation dinner together. The large dining room was a busy place, but well-staffed with very cordial servers and fabulous cooks. The Pisco Sour cocktail was great - as was all the food that all of us ate - paella, lamb chops, risotto, tapas... Even our vegetarian and vegan people were happy!
Cascal is my go to for special occasions, the food is consistent in flavor and portions, but pricey. You can’t go wrong with any of their dishes or drinks. My only complaint is the noise level. You cannot have a conversation without screaming which adds to the level of noise in the restaurant. I don’t know how they could resolve this issue 🤷🏽♀️
Carmen was an amazing server! We had exceptional service and can’t wait to come back again.
We were a table of 3 and placed our order. A table of 2 was seated after we ordered and they received their food before we received ours. Same waitress. We got our appetizers at the same time as our meal. No one ever came to ask how everything was or if we needed anything. After several attempts we managed to get someone's attention for refills of our Ice Tea and water. I am hoping it was just a bad day for them.
Food was decent, overpriced buts that’s to be expected in this area. We lost our server by the end of the meal.
I went there during the week on a date. Our seating was on the patio in front of the restaurant. It was a sunny day and my date and I enjoyed our lunch and the sangria. Although the steak was tasty, it was a bit tough and I would not order that dish again. That notwithstanding, the overall experience was good and I would dine there again.
Cascal is my go-to place in Mt. View. Love the food and service. Appreciate they they take reservations (a must). It does have excess noise.
We dined at Cascal on Friday night and it was fantastic, as usual. Whenever we are in the Bay Area we make a point of traveling to Cascal to eat at least once. We had a 3 year old with us this time and it was absolutely no problem.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
Please keep doing what you are doing!
The date & sausage tapas were our favorite and the fresh mint mojitos are great.
Very good and well presented. However, you should do something about the noise level..
I noted there are no sound absorbing boards or ceiling tiles. I found later that it has a reputation of being VERY noisy and it is.
Food was good. Ambience was as expected however, the service was just a little slow otherwise I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Love the outdoor patio. Great food but pricey for tapas. Would like to see more moderately priced smaller dishes. Like around $8-9 price point.
Very 'cute' decor. waiter OK. Manager great. Food very good & different.
Always delicious! Carlos was a wonderful waiter. We took friends here for their first time and they loved it!
Had a very good meal with excellent service. Jose was our waiter, and he was very attentive.
We enjoy going there for a meal.
We tried a few dishes (since it is a tapas place). The roasted corn poblano dish was very good, and the queso fundito was decent - but the beef short rib was overly salty and the Cuban wrap was under seasoned (the sauce on the side was good). We had a cheese plate for dessert which was ok. The drinks I had were good.
Overall there are better options for this price point.
We went off hours in between lunch and dinner and very enjoyable. Ambiance was very trendy and light Wine selections were good but could have had more options.
Ordered Tapas which were very good.
Mushroom empanadas, Brussel sprout salad, roasted octopus and a mojito! Blissful lunch outside!
Came here to listen to live salsa music. Surprised by how good food was and reasonably priced. Band was great....just wish there was more space to dance and watch band. Band was setup in tiny corner and hard to see due to limited space.
This is a great place to eat before events at the MVCPA. The food is delicious and versatile, the service fast and efficient. It's especially fun to order small plates to share.
Wonderful as always. But the music was too amplified.
Have been here many times and always enjoyed it. This time, not so much.
Arrived for a 6:30 reservation. Everything’s felt rushed. We were served incorrect orders. The servers paid no attention to us.
Wouldn’t rush back.
The food and service was wonderful. But it was so noisy that we could hardly hear each other.
Great place, I’ve been there three times. And will return.
Birthday dinner night out. Very good food a bit crowded for a Tuesday night I was surprised. Tables can feel kind of crowded together but not a big deal. Great service and overall a great place for a casual night out.
Food was fine. Way overpriced, not anything special. Even the drinks were meh. Wouldn't go again unless for happy hour!
Cascal is consistently the best restaurant in Mountain View. Exceptional service, great food and just an awesome overall experience.
I was disappointed that the beef empanadas have disappeared from the menu. The Crab Tostaditos, Albondigas, and Cuban Wrap were all delicious, but I missed those beef empanadas. The patio dining was really comfortable with the outdoor heaters.
Excellent as always. Great service by Teodora. The food was great. We love going to Cascal for special occasions
Great service , delicious food and beautiful ambiance. This is my go to restaurant for special occasions. The outdoor seating very comfortable and quiet. Staff very friendly, professional, helpful, accommodating and courteous
I would recommend (8/10) and go again. Went there Friday evening. Lady on the phone was very accommodating and moved our reservation by 30 minutes as we were running a little late. Really loved the ambiance, live music, dancing, and friendly people. Cascal Paella(8/10), Lamb Enchiladas(10/10), Banana leaf chicken(7/10) were great. Sangria was a total disappointment(2/10) for a restaurant with Spanish flavors. Service so so(5/10). Being a Server is a tough job but being a little friendly and smiling does not take that much more effort. Overall, definitely worth a second visit.
Good food — ceviche trio was excellent ... noise level is not so good — it’s loud and hard to have conversation ... also wish the ambiance/decor was more Spanish ...
Great paella for lunch. I always enjoy eating there.
