Cascal Ratings and Reviews
I've left many reviews for Cascal as I have been here on numerous occasions and I'm never disappointed. Cascal has delicious and interesting food. The drinks are plentiful and their are many options both alcoholic and not.
I hardly ever get to dessert (eyes bigger than stomach!) but when I do, it's worth it.
We had a bad Valentine's Day experience at Cascal. We had a late reservation (8:45) and when we arrived, the hostess told us they were running behind and they would text us when ready. My wife and I went to the bar and 30 minutes passed without a text. We went back to the hostess stand and apparently they forgot about us because we were seated right away.
Our waiter was inattentive and not personable. He offered no conversation or recommendation, but a short "What would you like?". When we were done eating, our empty plates sat on the table for 15 minutes before they were cleared. Needless to say we didn't stick around for dessert.
The food was bland and poorly presented. I will not be going back to Cascal.
If you run a restaurant, you'll want to visit Cascal to see how to run a really good restaurant. We've eaten here many times and always, repeat always, have an excellent time, great food and expert service. We've come here for lunch (mostly business lunches), for dinner and just to enjoy a drink at the bar or on the patio. The menu is extensive and gives you many choices for your meal from tapas to delicious entrees. We love the paella - they know how to make it perfectly. For those of you who are vegetarians, they have a paella for you - and if you love seafood paella, they have the more traditional Spanish paella. Don't miss their sangria - it's house made and really good. One of our favorite restaurants!
Overall service is remarkable. One thing they took a plate that me and my wife love. The plate is Chile Relleno, I hope that they can bring it back. We express our concern to the manager and they're working on it. It's been 4 months and We were expecti g that dish this Friday. Don't have it.
My wife and I (in our 70s) dined at Cascal on a Friday night, pre-theater. The restaurant was packed, but with a reservation we did not have to wait. Even though it was packed, the service was not slow. We shared 4 tapas, and sangria. My wife particularly liked the mushroom empanadas, and I liked the beef short rib adobo, and we both liked the crab tostaditos best. The eggplant Tian was okay, with a good sauce. The place was loud with conversation, and we were happy to have a table in a corner. It was still hopping when we walked by near 10:00 after the show.
The food continues to be good. We dined on a Friday night and the noise level was extreme. We could barely hear each other across the table. We were seated right next to a service area and the servers kept banging plates on the plastic divider. I would return here but would only eat on the patio. It is much quieter at lunch.
The ambiance of this location was very lively, and I enjoyed it. The staff members were friendly and came around just enough to be helpful and polite but not overwhelming. The reason for my lower rating for this restaurant was the price to portion ratio. I spent $45 on a beer and two sizzling shrimp dishes. These shrimp plates were nothing more than 5 shrimp sitting in seasoning/sauce. While they were certainly tasteful, I can't justify that price for what I received. Not too thrilled to come back
I have been to this restaurant a few times over the years. I thought the tapas sampler was very
good, but the price has risen by 19 dollars, and risen, as well, on the rest of the menu on certain dishes.
However, they do have reasonably priced food. I, unhappily, chose the wrong dish. I ordered a dish with small pork bellies. Never having eaten them before, I was totally put off by the fat in
them. They were almost entirely made of fat with very little pork. I guess I should have asked
more questions. I left most of the dish except for the sliced apple and papaya salad. Not a good
day for me, but I will return and try something else next time. It's a very attractive restaurant
and the outside is very nice place to eat, especially on a comfortable day. My two friends ordered some kind of mushroom dish but walked away hungry.
Everything was fine until we got our bill. First, the bills were given to the wrong person. Secondly, we were overcharged having been charged twice for the workers' benefits. Then we waited for half an hour while the manager tried to correct the error. Unexcuseable!
Second time to Cascal’s after event at the performing arts center and once again absolutely delighted with the unique dishes and flavors and he excellent attentive service! Try the fried olives, the mussels in saffron sauce and definitely the churrasco! Also don’t forget to try the warm chocolate soufflé, the bread pudding and the glam for dessert! Authentic Spanish flavors, charming ambiance!
Came here because I heard great things about this place and thought it would be fun to take my sister here who was visiting from LA. Very disappointed! Food was bad. The paella was horrible, the sizzling shrimp was so bad I couldn’t eat it. The Peruvian ceviche was the only thing that was good.
We always have a great time when we come here, and this time was no exception! We started at the bar with a couple of orange margaritas (the best ones!) while we waited for our table to be ready. Even for a wednesday night, we were impressed by how busy it got during the 6:00 hour.
Once seated we were promptly served by a seemingly hurried server, however the actual food and beverage service was pleasant and timely. We were a little taken back by the high prices of the small plates, but we ended up having plenty of food with 4 plates between us, with leftovers for lunch! Chalk it up to downtown dining at a popular restaurant.
