Excellent service and food. Our server was very helpful and attentive. We requested to speak with the manager after our meal to commend her. There was a very intoxicated man at the table next to us and he had attempted several times to intimidate her. She kept her cool and was very polite to him and to us.
Will not recommend or go back Unable to comment on the food because we never got served. Waited an hour and 15 minutes and left. Overheard hotel staff saying they’d never eat there. Had one of the merchants in town suggest we make reservations elsewhere. Now we know why.
We were pleasantly surprised. Our expectations were not that high, being a small hotel restaurant. The first glance of the menu sparked immediate interest. While it isn't vast, it is adequate for most guest. I had the buffalo ribeye and my wife had the strip. Both were cooked perfect, paired with great sides. The cost was less than our average dinner, which is pleasant also.
We travel and dine upscale frequently. The value of your dollar is recognized here. That's becoming rare. I would greatly recommend giving it a try.
Everything was awesome! The noise level was high at the beginning, but lowered as the meal went in!
The food was very good. Some of the signature cocktails were a bit pricey for what you get.
It was convenient being in the hotel for a breakfast before going out for the day.
We were able to make last minute reservations. Food was good drinks were pricey. Convenient being in the hotel.
Excellent dinner before the illusionist show at the Stanley. Kristin service was very attentive, friendly and prompt the striped bass was perfect.
Where to start on this one. This was a very underwhelming experience.
First, the service was quite horrible. Super slow, and our waitress was never in site. Also, we had three sandwiches and it took 45 minutes from when we ordered to when food arrived. The problem here was that the had a tasting for a wedding, and obviously the kitchen was too focused on that to serve any of the other restaurant guests.
Next, the food was cold and not worth the price. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, which felt like they pulled it from the fridge and slathered it on a bun. Totally unappealing. Also, they obviously don't pay attention to food allergies, because I mentioned I couldn't do dairy, but my fries came out covered in Parmesan. Both my companions said there meals were fine, but not hot, and not worth the wait.
Two words for this one: Skip It.
I celebrated my birthday at the Stanley Hotel. My friends and I dined at Cascades Saturday evening. The food was excellent and the portions plentiful. I had a Filet and it was tender, juicy and delicious! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the bar area is fabulous. I would come up again just for dinner. Everyone treated my birthday as a Special Event and I appreciated the attention!
The food and service were excellent! I would highly recommend the Cascades for any occasion whether visiting the Stanley or Estes.
The waiter acted as if it was a bother to come check in on us, and only seemed interested when he was waiting to pay for the check. He only refilled one glass of water between the two of us, leaving the other entirely empty. His attitude entirely ruined the dinner.
Service was excellent. The food selection was good with enough range in prices to make the meal affordable. Chicken wings; hamburger and duck all very good. The person who refilled the water did not speak English, but she was still very attentive and tried hard. The restaurant is very classy; just what we wanted. The common areas of the hotel itself were not kept tidy. There were used glasses in the lobby, on the front porch and in the lower level near the coffee shop. Clearly a hotel management deficiency and not a restaurant problem.
The beef and buffalo entrees were tender, lean and flavorful. The arugula salad and panna cotta were very enjoyable. The restaurant has a friendly, attentive staff and has a nice selection of adult beverages.
Service was good and nice wi e list for single glass
We ate here after going on a daytime historical tour at the Stanley hotel. We thought the food was great, and our waiter was very good and attentive. Our only complaint is that we had to wait initially for the hostess to seat us.....she was not at her station when we first arrived. The menu items are very very pricey, but we did think that it tasted delicious. My husband got the salmon entree and I got the roasted chicken. We had the turtle cheesecake for dessert and it was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly and serviced our table very often. Overall, great experience!
Although we were disappointed with the meal, the restaurant is beautiful, located in the historic Stanley Hotel. The wait staff was pleasant and prompt.
Nice hotel, restaurant not worth the hype. Super expensive drinks and high priced entrees with tiny portions. Would not go again
The restaurant was noisy and a lot of children were allowed to run around. I know it was a holiday but a little much. We were seated at a table in the back by a sliding door to the outside. People kept going out and not closing the door. It was cold outside and my wife was uncomfortable. The food was very good but, I think, overpriced for what was received. Most likely would not come again as there are better places that are more reasonable. Was a novel to try once I guess. We are local and live in the Estes area.
BAD BAD MANAGEMENT. Had reservations for Mothers Day breakfast. There was no intent from the kitchen to serve patrons (they were busy cooking for later in the day). Wait staff explained that to prevent over an hour and half wait for food, the we should avoid breakfast on special holidays. Hmmmm... wonder why they allowed reservations. Now...it was clear from open table that they were offering Mother's Day brunch... what was never indicated was that brunch started at 11. And my 930am breakfast (with reservation) would have been 2nd choice since I needed to make a flight in Denver and impossible to find another restaurant at that point. BUT AFTER AN HOUR, WAS TOLD 2 ORDERS AHEAD OF ME AND NOT EVEN STARTED. THIS WAS A COMPLETE DISREGARD TO THE 4-5 Tables waiting over hour and half. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST MANAGEMENT. My rating of my weekend went to the very lowest level
We used to love Cascades and the StanleyHotel for its history and ambience, as well as food quality. Our last visit, however, was disappointing. We had breakfast reservations on Mothers Day, 2017. The restaurant was very understaffed, especially in the kitchen. We ordered eggs Benedict, and it took over an hour to arrive and was not very flavorable. Our waitress was very apologetic, and the manager did comp the meal, but it did not live up to our previous experiences. Apparently, one of the line cooks had just quit, and staff is very hard to find right now, so maybe it woiuld be better on a different day. We hope they get the problems resolved soon.
The service was very slow. My wife's meal was burnt. I had only water with the meal and my glass was empty for the last half of the meal. There was a party in the next room and I think our waiter and busboy were working that venue as well as tables in the restaurant which might have been the reason for the poor service. Not sure why the food was bad.
Average food with top price tag. May have just been what we had though. When restaurant is attached to whiskey bar it makes for a noisy place.
What a disappointment. Made a Saturday afternoon reservation here months in advance to take my mother while she was in town for the weekend. The service was terrible, mostly because there really wasn't any. Mom ordered a burger and I got their pork belly BLT, which included a fried egg. When the server brought it, 35 min after we placed the order (not an overly crowded dining room either) the egg was raw on top- the white was totally liquified and runny, and I immediately and politely asked for it to be returned and cooked. The server acted like I was insane when I made the request. When he returned it, the egg was still raw and simply flipped over on the sandwich. Both orders of fries we received we so stale and cold they had the taste and consistency of rubber. We are NOT picky eaters at all, and I can count on one hand the times in my life I've had the audacity to send food back, but this was unreal. Such a disappointment considering how amazing the ambiance of the hotel is. I'd not recommend anyone do anything but sit at the bar here and enjoy the impressive whiskey selection.
The food here was fantastic! Of course being in the one and only Stanley adds to it. The service here was amazing as well. Everyone has a great attitude! I have nothing negative to say about Cascades!
My boyfriend and I had gone to Cascades for a special occasion because it supposedly had a reputation as a high-end, gourmet food, special place to go out. Certainly the prices were set at that level! It was basically like any standard hotel restaurant fare. Nothing special at all.
When I made the reservation with OpenTable, I added a note that we did not want any alcohol and would need gluten free options. When I called to confirm the reservation live, I repeated those same requests. Clearly, I wasted my time. We were given a drink menu and when we asked for gluten free options, the waitress didn't have a clue. I'm not even sure she understood what gluten free meant because I had to explain to her that wheat is found in sauces and can also be present in spice blends and such. The one positive - we were served gluten free bread.
The menu was super basic. The only for sure gluten free item on the menu was a steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. Big deal. I can do those at home. The steak was huge and thick and nice, but not extraordinary. The mashed potatoes were cool and gloppy. The green beans were undercooked.
The best part of the creme brulee was the berries. It tasted like it was from a mix and the sugar shell topping was soggy - it had clearly been sitting for a while.
My boyfriend had the elk-bison-pork meatloaf wrapped in bacon. He said it was bland and except for the bacon, really had not flavor.
We were next to a railing that had a wood floor under it (most of the restaurant was carpeted). The floor under the railings was full of crumbs and food - my coat picked up the bits.
The service was poor - we had to ask a couple of times to have our glasses refilled with water.
For the price, for the marketing, we expected a special night out....the two of us had a great evening together, but it sure wasn't because of the location or the food!
Great place with good food and great views. The bar was great as well
Best salmon either of us have ever eaten in our lives, hands down. Amazing. And the carbonara was delicious, even though it was completely missing the green peas. Wine list is great. Loved the decor and ambiance of the room. Service was outstanding!
We went for a special occasion, menu was not anything new. Service was ok but for being a high end hotel. The dinning was not great and I would not go back again. They need a better menu and better feel then a bar/hotel diner.
A fun mountain setting, interesting architecture but unfortunately a very, very lackluster lunch. Meals were lacking in quality, taste and presentation. The grilled chicken on the salad tasted like it was cooked the day before and reheated before serving. The server, while polite and eager to serve, appeared overwhelmed and forgetful for regarding even simple requests like water refills. Soup of the day wasn't available as they "didn't have the time or necessary ingredients" to prepare it. Menu drinks were sporadically available, even the Ubiquitous Coors and Bud Lights were out of stock. Too bad as having lunch at The Historic Stanley Hotel was the primary focus of our trip yesterday.
Hostess was rather rude and servers didn't seem too interested. Food was decent. Drinks were good.
The Stanley hotel is worth a visit. The food was good but most impressive was whiskey. Over 1200 different types. Outside was high but was expected at a landmark like this.
The food was good, but not great. My salad was topped with chunks of caramel which gave a hard crunch that was off-putting. The waiter seemed not to want to be there, greeting us with a scowl and mumbling a welcome that had no conviction. But we were attended to pretty quickly
Our waiter was very professional and dinner was great, well cooked. Honestly, Cascades needs a dress code. With the price of that food, and type of restaurant, it is absolutely unacceptable to dine with people in shorts and Hawaiian shirts. Sorry, but a $200 dollar dinner should not be surrounded by, shorts, tacky shirts, and Addidas jump suits. This completely waters down such a wonderful restaurant. If Cascades wants to fine dining... then be it, if not then don't.
The Stanley Hotel's Cascades restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious! The filet mignon melts in your mouth and is accompanied by tasty seasonal vegetables. We went on our honeymoon and will go on future anniversaries! They took the time to make our celebration even more special! Thank you! :)
It was a wonderful meal, however, there were a fare amount of gnats that kept buzzing around our table and food.
My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner at the Stanley for an interesting experience while staying in Estes Park. The Stanley has a wonderful history of course, but I do think its reputation may lead diners to believe the food will be better than it was. The duck I ordered had a nice flavor, the meatloaf tasted like warm/soft beef jerky, and the cheesecake was simply okay. It was all largely overpriced for what it was. Our server was wonderful and attentive. The two whiskey drinks we ordered were divine, however, and I think for its history alone its worth a stop at the Stanley bar. Enjoy a drink and the ambience of the whiskey collection behind the bar, but don't expect a meal that matches the price at a table.
The steaks were perfect, atmosphere was perfect. A great way to spend an evening
The Stanley was beautiful, the service was wonderful
Fantastic food, employees are absolutely wonderful!
