The place is beautiful. The portions are large. A bit greasy.
The food was excellent and the service was good. It took a while to get our drink orders and food, but our waitress did a great job checking on us.
One of my favorites! I loved the ambience, the food was delicious and dessert was to die for. Going back soon.
Excellent! Can’t wait to go back
The food is excellent. Just not the usual. I had the roasted beet salad and the lamb with poached eggs. The breads were delicious.
My wife and I were visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend and were looking for a restaurant for Friday night. We picked Casbah after about 20 minutes of reviewing Open Table listings. We can’t say enough good things about Casbah. Very interesting menu. Not overly expensive. We loved the ambiance in the tented patio. Our meals were delicious. I had a potato and leek soup, my wife the beet salad. She had halibut and I had duck. All were prepared to perfection. I definitely intend to return. Also ample on street parking although I am not sure if that would have been the case in Shadyside on a Saturday. Not to worry, Casbah has complimentary valet parking if street parking is unavailable. We give this our highest recommendation.
As always, a delightful experience.
Great food all around
We drove from Lynchburg, VA to Pittsburgh to take our grandson, an honor student at the Univ. Of Pittsburgh out to eat. We returned home the following day.
Casbah is just a wonderful restaurant in everyway. We are not regulars and live in Lawrence co Ellwood city. So its a bit of a drive but worth it every time we have gone. We pride our selves as foodies. Casbah will always do just that little bit more that any foodie loves. This time the tuna tartar even had caviar. the Long island Duck perfect rare breast and the leg thigh braised. So good! My husband had the beef short ribs stuffed ravioli, the first time he didn't get the lamb. He was Very happy with it as well, but we both agree there isn't a bad dish on their menu. It was our 25th anniversary and it couldn't have been better. Thank you Casbah and our server Rebecca, she was a joy.
Have been eating at Casbah now for nearly 20 years... still one of my favorite places in the city. Will be back again soon.
Excellent food. Well thought out entrees, perfectly prepared using responsible sourced quality ingredients.
First time there but heard from just about everyone I know how great it was- they were right! Excellent selection on menu, great bar/wine selection- had a party of 6 so lots of variety on table- it was all great from apps to desserts
Outstanding as always. We had the short rib ravioli and the cavatelli. Both were amazing. Nice selection of wines by the glass if not everyone in your party is drinking wine. Always a favorite spot!
It was a birthday celebration for three family members.
We sat “outside” in the tented part of the restaurant. Enjoyed quiet and pleasant environment. Our waitress was fabulous. The meal was unhurried at our request. Food was its usual excellent for lunch. Valet usual efficient.
In a city with a plethora of really good restaurants Casbah remains as one of our favorites...
Casbah has Excellent food, Lovely setting, great ambiance
Delightful meal. Good time
It's my favorite restaurant on the east side of Pittsburgh. The gnocchi is delicious and desserts are decadent.
We went for Sunday Brunch and we were both very pleased with our meals. We have never gone wrong at Casbah. The food is tremendous and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious and great service. Would highly recommend this place. We went for sunday brunch which was excellent.
Brunch was delicious Service was great Bloody Mary’s were very tasty with a beautiful presentation I will be back
Saturday brunch! we were lucky to have Fiona take care of us. our food was super; I did my usual salmon/salmon and Nance and I both had mimosas. If you havent done the brunch on Saturday or Sunday you should - great fixed price and selection. we love Casbah
Great food and service as always.
Enjoyed grilled octopus as an appetizer which was well prepared. Swordfish crusted with coriander was flavorful. Only suggestion is it could have had a few more veggies to accompany it
It was Symphony night and our waitress (whose name was Jamaica) made every effort to see that we would be on our way in plenty of time. Since this was our first visit she took the time to explain the menu, answered every question we asked about the food, and even offered choice selections to our inquiries. The food was excellent. Our server was the best! Thank you Jamaica!
Pork chop and risotto were excellent! Also had the butterscotch pot de creme dessert which was delicious! I've been here twice and have had a great meal both times. Will be back again! Service is always wonderful.
My family had Easter brunch here and enjoyed it very much. Our waiter was attentive, pleasant, and well-informed. The cocktails, appetizers, and entrees were all delicious and everyone had a very good meal.
We went for our anniversary (and noted it on our reservation) and were sat in the back corner of the stinky basement by the emergency exit/kitchen. Plus, not a single staff member mentioned our anniversary (and definitely no "congrats!" on our dessert plate in chocolate which, at this point, is fairly de rigueur). How the basement is an anniversary-appropriate location is beyond me; it should not be an option for dining when there were reservations available all night and there were clearly open tables upstairs. Service was good and food was ok. A strange problem to have was that the portions are like 3x bigger than they should be. Food waste is one of my biggest pet peeves, but I couldn't possibly eat all of the food that we got in a 2 course meal. Everything was over very over-salted (even to me, and I LOVE salt!) and didn't really follow what was listed on the menu. I'm not sure where all of the veggie sides were, all of our dishes were just huge hunks of protein. Granted, we did not order any of the pastas, so I can't comment on them. While everything was "fine" and the price was reasonable, we were pretty disappointed in our (supposed to be special occasion) trip to casbah and will not be rushing back any time soon, especially not as a celebratory night.
Great food, excellent service
We shared 4 pasta dishes and they were wonderful.
Casbah's pasta fest was exceptional. It was great to chose from so many pastas served in small plate format. Our server was very knowledgable of all the dishes and let us know what pastas were special for the evening and which ones are typically on the Casbah menu. The gnudi and black rice arancini was the table favorite for the evening. We also tried the grilled octopus appetizer ,based on our server's recommendation, and it was fabulous. Overall, the cocktail and wine selection was great, appetizers were fabulous, the pasta selection was wonderful and we still had room to sample a light dessert plate for the table at the end. As always, Casbah does not disappoint!
My favorite restaurant. Menu changes frequently, and there are seasonal special dishes. Always a pleasant experience.
I just moved to Pittsburgh in August. This was one of the top meals I have had. I would highly recommend this spot.
I am excited to go back.
Went for a birthday dinner. Everything was perfect. Waited at the bar as we arrived a bit early, the bartender was attentive and enthusiastic, especially when it came to suggesting wines. I love bartenders and servers that clearly love what they are doing. We discovered a few new wines we never knew about and was very happy with that. My Negroni was perfect, so perfect I had to force myself to nurse it so as I didn't drink it too fast. We were seated timely, food was outstanding, server was one of the best I have ever had. My girlfriend got the carrot risotto and could not decide on anything so I wound up getting just a couple of appetizers.
It made the birthday evening wonderful.. and looking forward to getting back.
Good happy hour
Casbah is consistently good food and great service. On this occasion I had the duck, our daughter had the orecchietti and my husband had the filet. The duck and orecchietti were perfectly cooked and presented. My husband complained that the filet was grisly and tough and therefore not worth the price. He chose not to inform the restaurant but I am sure they would have corrected the problem had they been made aware. This restaurant is one of our favorites in Pittsburgh. It is easy to get to and the food is consistently good.
Service was slower than normal this time. Everything else was great though
Very disappointed. Appetizer portions were so tiny that they resembled a kiddie meal.
Enter was awfully salty.
Came highly recommended but did not live up to the hype or the cost - Aladdins would have been better, tastier and a better price-value.
