Casbah Ratings and Reviews
We decided to use my husband's Big Burrito Group birthday coupon to try Casbah's famous brunch. Even without the coupon, $28 per person was a great price for a massive amount of food and a tasty brunch cocktail. I was full just from the complimentary pastries and appetizer, but I stuffed myself with some delicious lamb and eggs. My husband enjoyed his meal, but he said he wished he would have made better choices. His shrimp appetizer was a little heavy on the sweet for his tastes, and his burger was spot-on in flavor but overall too mushy in texture. I would definitely go back, with or without a coupon for an excuse!
Excellent meal as usual. Enjoyed the Nouveau Beaujolais tasting dinner on Nov 16. Even though the restaurant was quite busy for our early dinner time, the service was prompt and attentive. It was a great opportunity to sample a few dishes that my wife and I would not normally order as an entrée, and each course was outstanding.
I often dine out for work, and I went to Casbah numerous times in the past few years. At some it was a go-to place thanks to consistent quality. Lately I find Casbah inconsistent (it was not my choice for the night) when it comes to the taste and preparation. Halibut was bland and didn't go well with garnishing (fruit based). Appetizers were more interesting. On the positive side I like the ambiance of outside area, where you can dine on large tables fairly distant from each other. Service is also good. Finally overall value is low given the high price tags. A simple $10 bottle of white wine was charged $45 (unfortunately that is a common problem, can you explain the need to charge 4X ?) and entrees mostly in the $30-$40 range. So a dinner is about $100 before gratuity and taxes If you also want an appetizer and dessert.
The food and service was great. There were six of us and we all had different plates with a lot of tasting so there was much variety of excellently prepared food. My swordfish was perfectly done which is always a test of a good restaurant since it is easy to dry it out.
The waitress was charming and helpful. One caveat to the evening - One reason we went to Casbah was that it was my birthday and I wanted to use the birthday coupon which I, of course, managed to forgot. It would have made the evening even more special if the restaurant could look up the fact that I had received the card and honored it. That was particularly true since my daughter had called from Minnesota, unbeknown to me, and surprised us with dessert as a birthday treat which brings me to the chocolate raspberry bread pudding which has to be one of the world's best desserts. What a fabulous dessert and enough for two.
Food was very good although my husband's lamb shank was not as tasty or tender as in past visits
My pork chops was excellent though.
Bartender thought a manhatten was an old fashion and wanted to add sugar and an orange.
My favorite though of all the Big Burrito restauratns.
Service is always terrific.
My favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. I bring anyone here I want to impress, but also come alone for lunch or with my family for dinner. Great wines, best cheese plate, each course leaves you weak in the knees. I find the service to always be outstanding with knowledgeable, friendly, professional staff. Pricey but worth every dime. Great value for lunch with the Gusto menu. Did I mention I love this place?
wonderful restaurant great food and drinks, lovely ambiance. Love to sit on the patio enclosed so it's open even in winter. Everything on the menu is wonderful, I just wish they would change the menu occasionally, I'd like to go more often but the choices are always the same.
I greatly enjoyed my time at Casbah. My boyfriend and I went there for a celebratory dinner and had a lovely night. The food and wine were spectacular and our waitress was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for great cuisine and a special night out.
While I love Casbah and enjoy the variety and excellent cuisine, my wife has difficulty in choosing a meal there. She generally orders the Cheese variety plate, soup and sometimes a dessert. There isn't the variety she wants so she is limited in her choices. They have a great wine selection.
All five of us enjoyed our meals. The pork chop, as always, was magnificent. The swordfish was
excellent and the pastas were very tasty. Our appetizers were generous. Even though their desserts are delicious, we declined dessert because we were all satisfied by the time we finished our entrees
Casbah is always fabulous! Glad to see that this restaurant has stuck around for so long and is busy as ever. Great wine. Very tasty scallop appetizer. Amazing duck breast - perfectly cooked. Bread pudding is a must for dessert. Will remain on our regular restaurant rotation as long as it is open.
Great place. Great food, but the seats in the "tent" are drafty. Further if you have a table on the entry path in the tent it has the ambiance of eating in a cafeteria. There is so much traffic past these tables. If I go to the effort to make a reservation well in advance give me a proper seat in the restaurant. Next time I will specify in advance that the only acceptable seat will be in the restaurant and not the tent.
We were at Casbah for my niece's 21st birthday and the entire experience was fantastic. She's a vegetarian and her meal was every bit as good as the rest of ours. The duck and the swordfish were particularly good. Our server, Tess, was very attentive, and even had the chef prepare a little extra birthday treat with my niece's dessert. A great experience all around.
We stopped in before the Steeler game and had the pre-fix brunch. Started off with Bloody Marys and then shared the squash soup and the beet salad - GREAT! I had the poached eggs over lamb an spinach and Kat had the mushroom omelet. MMMMMMMMMM we'll be back.
My wife and I went to Casbah for a date night. We hadn't had a chance to go out with just the two of us in a while and decided to go somewhere special. Our reservation was for 8pm on a Saturday night, the restaurant was packed. The service was attentive and polite, if a little slow (probably because it was so busy) and we really enjoyed our food. We would love to come back!
I was very disappointed with my dish. I ordered the halibut which although had a nice sear, the fish itself was overdone. The accompanying vegetables sounded delicious but the greens, brussel sprouts were raw. For the price of the entree and the quality I will not be returning.
Very attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Appetizer portions (calamari and meatballs) were minuscule, but not priced accordingly. Braised rib ravioli were flavorful but pasta was overlooked and again portion size fell well short of expectations given the price. Wines were overpriced and the less expensive ones in short supply!
I’ve had the same dish on a few occasions and it always tastes new. The ingredients are simple but combine for powerfully full flavors that pair effortlessly with the navigable, solid quality wine list. The staff’s easygoing friendliness and professionalism create a fun, relaxing meal you can turn off and experience fully.
