Casbah promises an exciting, sophisticated gourmet dining experience in an intimate, comfortable atmosphere. On the first floor, the year-round heated patio & Southern European-inspired dining room offer elegant seating in an open, warm space. For more seductive & intimate dining, the lower level, with a glass-enclosed wine room, stone-covered walls & innovative lighting provides the coziest of retreats.
I’ve always loved Casbah. The food is simple and refined. I love the upscale farm to table concept. Every dish is thoughtfully and perfectly prepared from start to finish. They have a great wine selection, and our waiter was very knowledgeable about wine pairings and which wines we would prefer based upon our preferences-without being pretentious. There were 7 of us, and our table downstairs was absolutely perfect and gave us all the chance to interact with each other. It was the perfect place to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday. Oh, and the house-made caramels are to die for!
Casbah was absolutely amazing. Very helpful service and very careful about allergies. We were seated at a quiet table near the bar, which was lovely. All of the food was perfectly cooked and amazing. They even wrote congratulations messages on the desserts since we were celebrating a special occasion. I would absolutely go there again.
We were disappointed in our food this last visit. We usually enjoy the salmon and calamari & shrimp appetizers. We had those, drinks and beet salads for brunch. For some reason neither appetizer was up to the standards that they usually are. They were not bad but certainly not worth what we paid. The server asked if everything was okay. We didn’t want to complain so we just told her we were not that hungry. In retrospect we should have probably said something. I also wished that the prices of the individual items were listed on the brunch menu. We knew it might be more than what the brunch cost but I like to know nonetheless.
Food was delicious, loved sitting in the garden, I would go again.
Management must have changed. I've been to Casbah a number of times before and the food was way way higher quality. The menu is the same but the food itself is significantly lower quality and much smaller portions
Always love casbah, can’t remember a time where I haven’t enjoyed my meal or anyone with me. It’s consistently good.
Has been one of my favorite restaurants for years....value, ambience, service, close to home, easy park with free valet next door, great neighborhood. Big Burrito always reliable. Great martinis!
Thank you !
Excellent restaurant with fantastic atmosphere. In the warm months one can either eat on the covered patio or indoors. Appetizers and main courses were uniformly excellent. Service was very friendly. Cocktails were the perfect preamble.
A bit pricey, but well worth it for a special dinner.
Finally came for dinner as I have only been here for lunch previously. Happy hour on drinks in bar area. They don't serve the same items from lunch menu so it forced me to try something new! I love duck so ordered the Long Island Duck which came with a breast and leg and vegetables. Prepared superbly, both meats were very moist and favorable! I couldn't decide which red to pair with my duck so bartenders were kind to allow me tries of some. Someone on Yelp recommended the Malbec and it was the best choice. I typically dont order bread but they asked and agreed. The salted butter and other spreads were amazing and so glad I decided to try! The bartenders were both very attentive and accommodating! Thoroughly enjoyed my meal at dinner!
we frequently go to casbah because we really like the food, the cozy and quite ambience and especially the consistently excellent food and menu.
The complimentary valet parking does not hurt either!
Once again, Casbah knocks it out of the park. We had an early dinner reservation at 4:15pm. Post-brunch and pre-dinner rush. It was perfect. Server was attentive and not overworked. Food was prepared well. Drinks were wonderful. Prices reasonable for quality of food. I love this place.
From the time we walked into Casbah, we were happy we chose the restaurant for Mother’s Day.
Extremely pleased with our server who went out of her way to take care of all our requests and needs.
Our dinner of gnocchis with a wonderful cream sauce and a spinach pasta was outstanding. We are sure to return to Casbah on a monthly schedule.
Casbah’s food and service is reliably good. Never disappoints.
Consistently the best brunch, ambiance & service. Great for special occasions or makes any non- occasion special !
The food was delicious and the service was excellent!
We were there celebrating our 7th anniversary and we couldn’t have been happier to celebrate at Casbah. Our waitress Kim was fantastic! She had great food recommendations and knew exactly what wines would pair nicely with our selections. When the food cane, we were blown away with how tasty it was. We travel the world eating at great places and this is by far one of the Top 5 meals we have ever eaten! We highly recommended this place to celebrate a special occasion!
A little disappointed with octopus. It used to be phenomenal.
A nice place for lunch. Small menu, but interesting dishes. Some are hit or miss on the flavors, but overall a good choice for a lunch. The chicken and cranberry orecchiette pasta is one of the better selections. Crab salad was filled with crab, but dressed with a flavorless dressing which made this dish vary bland. The dessert were house made and enjoyed. The butterscotch pot de creme was like a caramel creme brulee. Delish.
A couple of my absolute favorite meals are served here. Usually wonderful service, however this night our waiter was not so attentive . ;-(
Typically one of our favorites. The food was over cooked, beef filet and my halibut. The inside dining area was extremely loud and noisy.
I’m hopeful this was just an unusual experience so that is why I would still recommend this restaurant
Always a great experience!
Menu options are fresh and always changing for the season’s best.
Always makes a birthday celebration special.
Food was excellent! First time there. Birthday lunch for my gal. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was breezy, inviting and unpretentious. They ended our meal with a nice offering: house-made salted caramels with Happy Birthday spelled out in chocolate sauce. We’ll definitely return. BTW great cocktails too 😋
Never misses the mark, thanks Casbah!
Always a delightful
Food quality is excellent. Party of 4 completely enjoyed dinners. We had noted on Opentable that it was our 17 year anniversary. Multiple staff separately acknowledged this and placed us at a nice table in the corner and wrote Happy Anniversary on dessert plate. Very good experience.
Service was not up to Casbah standard had to ask for bread water and felt rushed.Just finished our app and salad and entree was being served: we love this restaurant and food.
Amazing every time. Best restaurant in Pittsburgh!
I always love a meal at Casbah. Consistently outstanding!
Gad a simple lunch and as usual it was excellent...crab cake sandwich...nice big bites of crabmeat. Good welcome and great service.
The food and service was excellent as always. However, the area outside the original restaurant where we were seated was too warm and sticky. We had to skip dessert because my family was so uncomfortable. Ambience is part of the dining experience. You need much better air-flow in that space if you want your guests to leave happy. Thank you.
Excellent place to eat lunch and have a business meeting. Great mediterranean food selection. Jumbo lump crab salad is my favorite with large lump crab. Service was fantastic and conscientious of my time. Also allowed us to conduct business with limited interference for food. Look forward to trying this place for dinner and it happy hour!
This was our second visit to Casbah in a couple of months and our return visit didn't disappoint. The experience starts with free valet parking. This is important because Casbah is located in a popular and densely populated area of Shadyside. Sans this service, we wouldn't go because parking would be a nuisance.
The restaurant has three seating areas - covered patio, first floor and basement/wine cellar - that are distinct and offer very different experiences. We sat downstairs on our first visit and enjoyed the ambience, our most recent, we sat in the covered patio on a bright spring night and it was very pleasurably.
Kaylee, the hostess is the best in the city. Casbah is lucky to have her.
The food was exceptional. My wife had the duck and I had the filet.
My wife and I will be back.
Food was great for the price. Service was great for the price. "Red wine flight" was amazing and a good price. Valet parking $25 crazy!! Park on the street for free.
The food and service were excellent. We especialy liked the calamari and rock shrimp appetizer, the beet salad and the halibut.
What you see on the outside is an obscure generic looking building. Walk inside and the vibe is completely different. There is a lovely sunroom space and then walking further is the restaurant where you check in and see another seating area. We ordered drinks and appetizers for the 4 of us and it served as our meal. They immediately bring you their house bread and sea salt butter which is delicious. We ordered the 3 different spreads and received a different type of bread. We liked all of the spreads but thought the red pepper spread was exceptional. We also ordered the calamari, octopus, and tuna tartare. We were stuffed. Portions were generous. The service was excellent. There were no missteps here. Food runners and server always checked in. Next time I am in Pittsburgh, I will definitely go back there.
Excellent as always-NEVER disappoints!Visit Casbah-it's a treat
three of us were there for the Sunday brunch - which as a prix fixe is a real bargain. The "double salmon" is always my favorite - the salmon app and the Scottish salmon entree - always perfectly cooked at medium rare. The mimosas are quite tasty - had a second one! our server was just the best! Casbah remains our favorite restaurant
