Casbah has an excellent atmosphere for quiet, fancy dining. The food is outstanding, and the cocktails are fantastic. We had a really great time ad will come back for more
Megan B was our server and she was so very kind and made us feel very welcome.
Very unique dishes with great flavor. Excellent service. We enjoyed the lamb shank and the duck ravioli. A truly delightful evening.
The waiter forgot to give us doggy containers, so did we. Otherwise everything was delicious.
Casbah is always a great place for a special dinner. The food and service were outstanding as always.
Fabulous service, fabulous food. Great as always. Thank you!
As always, Casbah delivered a delightful experience. The food was interesting and perfectly prepared. Our server was attentive without being over present. I will return and enthusiastically recommend the brunch to others.
Always a great experience.
The service was excellent, the food was great. We especially enjoyed the scallop appetizer and the Chilean Sea Bass. The food was cooked appropriately and served hot. The wine flights were interesting and enjoyable.
We have been now for lunch and dinner recently. Very fine service and food both times.
The 6 of us were promptly seated upon arrival, as we were ushered to our table, we also ushered our dear friend into her 30’s. Our server was knowledgeable and fun without overstaying her welcome. Courses were served and cleared exactly when they should have been. Highlights of the evening include the arancini, the dim lighting, and the companionship.
Great food and great service. Highly recommended to have a romantic evening.
We had a lovely evening at Casbah. Sat on the patio and with the heaters on it was very comfortable. The main dining room was very noisy so we were happy patio seating was an option. It was busy - but my husband and I could hear each other without shouting. Our server was helpful as were the other waitstaff. I don't often rave about a meal - but the strozzapreti with lemon and rapini had a sauce that was so good I could have licked the plate. I'm sure the other diners were happy I didn't! The red pepper muhummara was a revelation as well. We didn't feel rushed - had time to enjoy our excellent cocktails and wine with dinner. Very nice wine list I should add. I was happy we got to try some new dishes and as this was a special "Leap Year" date I feel we had a memorable time.
We were seated in the basement level, which after years of going to Casbah for dinner, we didn't even know existed. The service was a little slower than we are used to, but I think it's because it's almost run like a separate restaurant, and I think there was only one or two waitresses servicing the entire floor. It took a long time to get our meals (filled up on bread) and even longer to get our check. It was an unusual experience to have anything lacking, because Casbah is typically amazing & flawless. We will of course return, but we might ask for seating on the upper level to see if there's a difference in service.
Casbah comfortably accommodated our party of 7. We had a lovely, non-rushed meal with a very nice server. Appetizers and main dishes were yummy. Our whole party had a great meal and time together.
First, I must say that service was excellent and I don’t regret my tip. Ambience was good. Now, I consider myself somewhat of a foodie and I have to reluctantly state that the entrees that we ordered were mediocre at best. We had the swordfish and the new lamb tagine. The swordfish was fairly bland and I’m sure that it was prepared as it usually is since it’s a staple of the menu. I was excited to try the lamb since it was a favorite when I was in Morocco. Unfortunately, it had a marinade/sauce that didn’t really enhance the flavors of the meat. I’m not a chef so I couldn’t really say what it was otherwise missing (spices? smokiness?). The octopus appetizer was decent, not the best I’ve had, although I’m comparing it to a four star spot in Madrid. For the price we paid, I would certainly not recommend and/or return. Furthermore, I could name at least 4 restaurants with better food, comparable menu, similar and/or better value not too far from the Casbah (it’s Lawrenceville).
Service was attentive and although we had to wait a little too long for our entries the nose level was quiet even though the restaurant was quite full. Bar service was excellent and generous and our server even took a nice group photo
We really like the food at Casbah; it's very tasty, well-balanced and presented beautifully by a well-trained staff. This price range makes it a special occasion only restaurant. We were pleased that our son, who had never eaten here before, chose Casbah for his birthday dinner.
Two small things that could make it even better: more vegetables with the meat dishes (we had duck and pork), brighter lighting. We strained to read the menu, but were really disturbed by the bright cellphone lights that a few of the neighboring tables deployed to read their menus.
Things seemed very "off" this evening. I have had dinners there before that were excellent so will probably give it another chance at another time.
Loved the food! Service was good once they came over. Overall though, liked the ambiance and the food
We had 8 people for a business meal. Warm friendly atmosphere. Pork chop was excellent as always. Even our California visitors complimented the food. Our waitress was quite busy but friendly.
Delicious food, great service, in a very nice setting. Close to shops and in an eclectic neighborhood. I would highly recommend.
Wonderful food and Jamaica our waitress was one of the best servers We’ve ever had
The menu is a bit confusing for a restaurant that claims to be a Mediterranean restaurant. The food, scallops and tartare, were excellent. Babaganoush was bland and flavorless. Entrees, duck and short rib were good but just a bit boring. The real low point of the night here were the desserts. Cheesecake was practically inedible, grainy texture, strange crust, accompanying fruit was too acidic. The server did remove the desserts from the check which was nice. Cocktails were good.
The food was excellent. We enjoyed both the wine and food. We were seated in a patio area that was pretty chilly for this time of year and for what is labeled upscale dining really isn't a very nice area. The wait staff was very helpful and quickly moved us to a table under a heater. If you are going for a romantic dinner make sure you are seated inside!
Food was fabulous, service as well. Great atmosphere.
Always a pleasure to dine at Casbah. The food and service are excellent for lunch and dinner.
I was disappointed with where we were seated. I have read that the rest of the restaurant is quite nice. We were seated at a table in the middle of the front room, which is a sort of heated, tent-enclosed patio near the door. The food was great, but our table was a bit small to accommodate it, and I didn’t like being seated in a high traffic area. I think I will call and ask about seating rather than make an online reservation in the future, in hopes of getting a better table.
Birthday Brunch items all cold! Especially omelets & toast. Calimari appetizer then only good food
One of the best executed meals I’ve ever had. Four courses and all were great. Sea bass with caviar was amazing!
My husband and I had a late Valentines dinner at Casbah. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful. My husband's filet left him speechless. We were seated in what appeared to be their outdoor dining area for warm weather months. Overhead space heaters offered plenty of warmth. Tables are very close together, but comfortable and not uncommon for smaller restaurants. The overall experience was wonderful and we would definitely go again and recommend the restaurant to others.
We went to Casbah, which is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants, on February 15, 2020. They had a special Valentine's day menu but (happily) we were also able to use the regular menu. We sat in the front portion, which is always louder than inside, and the heaters were on high, making it uncomfortable. We asked our waitress if they could turn it down, but that only worked temporarily. Other than those ambiance issues, dinner was great. We had a great waitress (named Jo I think and apologies if that is a mistake) and she went above and beyond with her service. The food, as always is wonderful. We are all fans of their tuna tartar, and even though it was being presented with different things for the Valentines Day menu, they were able to prepare it for me in the regular way. We did try a new dessert - a blondie brownie, and it was terrific. Another wonderful dinner at Casbah!
Great food, good atmosphere. I did not like sitting by the front door, you could feel the rush of cold air every time it opened, which was often. It was Valentine weekend so it was packed. The service was wonderful, no complaints. We were waiting for a shuttle van to return us to our hotel and the valet guys said they would tell us when it arrived, well they never did. Overall, I would return on a less crowded day/night because I do enjoy the restaurant.
Amazing dinner and service- thank you
We have been enjoying Casbah for years and our Valentine's Day dinner was great. The quality of the food and the service is always impressive. The burrata and squash salad was flavorful with the hazelnuts and pomegranate seeds. My absolute favorite meal in the City of Pittsburgh is Casbah's Red Pepper Casereccia. The sautéed scallops and lump crab meat and the pasta are fantastic. My husband enjoyed the duck entree with a foie gras sauce. It doesn't get any better than that!
Great brunch, lot's options and get a drink with your meal. Loved the eggs benedict!
Usually love the brunch, and the orichiette with chicken, but was very surprised that for the first time it was not good. Overly salted and the chicken was overdone and tough.
We had a lovely Valentine's Day and Birthday celebration..............Wonderful time.C
This was our first time at Casbah and we had a great experience. The food was outstanding and the service was very good. The free valet is a great convenience since parking is close to impossible around there. We look forward to going back soon.
