   We each ordered a different dinner and all were excellent. the ladies both had Veal dishes and they said they were the best. The deserts were marvelous and very well presented. The prices were reasonable. We were regulars at Cafe Baci, but since that closed we have been looking for our new favorite Italian Restaurant. Now we have found it. Thank you.

   Fresh and fine Italian eating in Sarasota. Pasta from scratch. So tender and flavorful. We opened a 2013 bottle of Brunello, divine. Truly, a hidden gem.

   We’ve eaten at Casantica 3 times and the meals are always delicious. We sat outside on the patio which was fine for the evening and our party of 6. Inside the rooms are cozier and more intimate.

   This restaurant had high marks on trip advisor. While the restaurant was quaint and the service was very good, the appetizers and main courses were very below average. The cannoli’s were good. Disappointing experience and very expensive.

    Normally a favorite, but disappointing last night. Veal was tough as leather. Entertainment OK, but sax player needs to tone it down. Way to loud for people to have any conversation.

    Great atmosphere Wonderful staff from front door to check out but all four of our meals were regrettably mediocre at best ( we each ordered something different) Short version everything from entrees to pasta and vegetables drenched in oil The branzino had many scales and the veal was minuscule in size chewy and doused in sauce We will return because of the staff and atmosphere to give it another try but hoping that this was just an off night for the chef

    Charming restaurant with authentic, freshly made Italian dishes, extensive wine list and excellent service. The mushroom ravioli with mushroom sauce was incredible! Delicate pasta, made from scratch, perfectly cooked with a creamy, flavorful sauce. The veal saltimbocca melts in your mouth…excellent! We will be back with pleasure.

    Food and service were excellent. Note on menu said one order of bread came with our dinners, but more would be $3.75 for five slices. (Our bread had four with one mostly holes.) I had not noticed this on any of our frequent trips to Cas Antica. This is nickel and diming in an already expensive restaurant. This seems to be a trend with many restaurants either not serving bread or charging for it. Certainly four or five slices of bread cannot cost the establishment anywhere near $3.75.

    Good experience overall. Food was well-prepared and tasty; "garden" setting was an outdoor covered patio; and staff was polite and plentiful but language was a challenge as only a couple seemed to speak English. Trying to be kind and constructive in our critiques, as this restaurant deserves a chance. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

    I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day dinner on open table. Prior to the date reserved I was advised that for that evening there was going to be a fixed price menu at a cost of $79 per person and that I could cancel if I wished. In retrospect I wish I had cancelled. The whole experience was a huge disappointment. As requested we were seated in the patio anticipating a pleasant Al fresco dinning experience. The patio felt like dinning in a trailer park that was substantially closed in. The smell of what of what I thought was sewer gas permeated the air the rather than floral garden scents. The premises are dated and in need of a substantial makeover. The dinner overpriced and the service casual at best. To make matters worst something I ate caused me indigestion. The romantic Valentine dinner which I had expected turned into a tolerance test.

    Service was not good at all for a restaurant of that caliber. Took way too long to get our meal, 95 minutes and only after I complained. I know it’s hard to get staff but for the price you pay there it should be much better.

    Food was delicious… very, very good. Portions were on small side so only 4 stars. Service was not good. Disappeared repeatedly. Asked for another wine & waited 10 mins to no avail. Then asked another staff person for 2 wines, 1 to share - and they came quickly but she completely ignored me saying “stop, we’re sharing, no, stop!” As she poured the entire carafe contents into only my glass quickly. Without apology nor remedy.

    Cas'Antica is a Sarasota standby in a nicely decorated old house on Palm. The outdoor section is particularly inviting as it is well covered and attractive. The pastas are fresh and tasty with interesting sauces. The wine list is robust by the bottle but by the glass suffers in quality albeit at bargain prices with no wines more than $10 or so. Appetizers at mostly $20 and up were way overpriced for the quality and complexity with a mozzeralla/tomato caprese salad at over $20 as an example. My chicken marsala was drowning in a rather bland sauce as was my partner's chicken picatta. On other nights here, the Neopolitan parmigana main dishes were a bit better. A plus feature...free parking steps across the street at 2 N. Tamiami's indoor lot. Another plus....energetic, friendly service, always willing to please A third plus...the delightful outdoor dining space. A minus feature...the musician, a singer with a saxephone, politely stated, who is at the end of his career and mostly out of tune but trying to compensate by increased volume. In summary, a well situated spot for pre-theater Florida Studio performances and convenient parking in a difficult area for parking. Avoid the $20 plus appetizers, stick with the Neopolitan specials and pastas and try to snag a table far from the musician if eating out of doors.

    I had a 5pm reservation got there at 10 to they made me wait outside until 5pm. The wine list is Awesome! The food was average for the price$$$. The staff needed to smile more.
