The restaurant occupies a 1926 historic home nestled among the trees on the edge of downtown Sarasota. Patrons may choose indoor or outdoor dining (weather permitting), including our lovely rooftop seating area, tucked in under the branches of the old live oak trees that surround the building. The perfect setting... exclusive, romantic and intimate.
CasAntica: a place to gather with old friends, meet new friends, and to enjoy a beautiful dining experience!!!!!
If you have never been there, you need to go to Casantica. Definitely reservations are a must, as it is a very small quaint restaurant in one of the cool old Spanish style buildings in downtown Sarasota. It was recommended to me by my bosses, who are restaurant owners and it did not disappoint. All pasta is homemade and Delish! Service was great and we sat outside which is lovely, as temp was perfect that evening. Not inexpensive, so it may need to be a special occasion for you, as it was for us. 3 birthdays. Enjoy!
Classic and sophisticated decor. Long candles a real plus to create a very romantic setting. Pasta dishes exceeded very high expectations. Prices very reasonable for "total value" of the dining experience received.
My wife and I went on a Saturday evening and was initially seated close to a Saxophonist who was quite loud outside. We asked to be seated inside away from the loud noise and they obliged. We were seated upstairs and the ambiance was lovely. The food was absolutely delicious and well worth the money. We will go again. Perhaps a Classical guitarist would be a better choice in entertainment.
Fabulous setting, service and Food. Sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance and the entertainment. Plan to return as often as we can.
Valentine’s Day so there was a reduced menu. Pasta was good, but were expecting to order from the larger menu. Our fault for not checking first. Also our favorite young waiter who is very knowledgeable was not there. I hope there has not been a change in management.
excellent food, nice ambience and good service. No Complaints. Good value for the money but not inexpensive.
Definitely not the place to go for a special occasion. We were sat right by the front door in a tiny nook. For as many time as the staff allied by I would expect better service. A make shift bar that the staff like to congregate around. Won’t go back.
Nice atmosphere. Cuisine was delicious, and service was very good.
Made reservation on Open Table and noted 2 ladies’ birthdays— requested small cake. They never checked my request, had no cakes and the service was ho-hum at best. The veal dish was tough. Expected a lot more from this restaurant.
As usual, the food was excellent. Service a tad slow, especially as they were not busy at all. For the money, Cas Antica is one of the best restaurants in Sarasota, which is saying something.
The restaurant was crowded and we were taken upstairs to a smaller room. A large party was already seated and frankly it was loud and uncomfortable. I don't think the large party was rude but the seating for us, was wrong. It took a while for our server to appear and he was jovial and as prompt as can be. That said, the service lagged a bit because the restaurant was busy. The food was o.k. but frankly for the expense, it should be better and presented in a high scale way. If this restaurant wants to charge 25 dollars and up for pasta and entrees then they need to deliver with service and cuisine that matches the price tag. The good news is that its next to the Florida Studio Theater. That convenience would have me return, perhaps. I want all the Sarasota restaurants to flourish ... its part of the city's charm. Still, Casantica Ristorante should not rest on past laurels and proximity. They can and should do better
Excellent meals. Unhurried service allowed us to spend leisurely time catching up with friends who were dining with us.
Fine Italian dining in an intimate atmosphere in an old downtown Sarasota house. We had grilled calamari to share to start and then a special of the day, Steamed branzino in a wrapper with many vegetables and seafood. Was different and very enjoyable. Service is friendly and professional.
Food was delicious! All 6 in our party enjoyed their meal! And, the “wine room” was cozy.
Yes, it was our first time there and everything was very good. We had dinner prior to our theater performance and made it on time
Great find. Only wish knew several years ago. Will be back.
A lovely meal! We were seated in a quiet nook that was perfect for conversation. I ordered the burrata appetizer as my entree and it was delicious.
Food was good. Waitress could barely speak English and had no personality what so ever. Limit wine selection by the glass.
party of 4 630 pm on NYE and found out they had a a special menu (1/3 the number choices) and 50% to 100% price increases on both the food and beverages. This menu was not the menu on-line at their website, nor was it the menu posted that day in front of the restaurant (I checked ahead of time that day) nor listed on open table. The restaurant was half empty.
It would have been simply common robbery except for the fact that the food except for maybe one entree was poorly prepared and/or grossly overcooked and dry. I asked the server if my $30 (all prices before before tax and tip, no accompaniments with any entree) lasagna was made today, and she answered that the chef started cooking at five in the morning. No wonder the pasta was mushy and the inadequate sauce inside and on top completely dry. The $37 lobster and linguini had one single 3 ounce tail not removed from the shell - digging the tiny lobster tail out from the mound of dessicated sauce covered pasta was way too inconvenient and messy, I guess though if they removed the meat the portion size would have appeared even more inadequate. My wife (who chose this place) and her mother both had the $30 ravioli alfredo (5 ravioli in a gluey-looking thick sauce) and said it tasted fine, but I think my mother in law has never find fault with anything her daughter chose (at least in the forty years I have known her).
Carla the main server was completely absent - took a long time after seating to come to the table, did not come back to check on us after the food was served, water glasses empty for long periods during the course of the meal, and after all the plates were empty they sat in front of us for over 15 minutes before I finally had to ask a busboy to please find our server.
I regret today giving a 15+% tip, but I did have one final laugh. Listed on the bottom of the check were 20, 22 and 25% tip amounts - calculated after the tax!
Food was just amazing.
Great meal, attentive service in a dining area where it was a pleasure to eat and talk. We will return.
My mother in law was served a raw piece of chicken in her chicken parm. The dish was removed off the check however aside from an apology from the server, no one from the kitchen or management came out to apologize. Will not return.
Wonderful “old world” dining with nouveau menu items. The salmon was fantastic, as was the veal piccata. Recommend it highly.
Veal was outstanding as usual. Love their tiramisu. Always eat here when going to theater.
A very nice first experience at this establishment...we particularly were impressed with the wait staff & chef as we had a guest with gluten issues & they made sure she was accommodated. We are looking forward to a return visit.
Calamari was tough; chicken parm was dry and overcooked ; asked for a half portion of pasta as an appetizer and received a firm no with a lame excuse (I ask for this at almost every Italian restaurant we patronize and have never been refused, until now!)
Casantica is off our dining list.
Excellent food, excellent service in a lovely old building. Close to FST's Keating Theatre. Very enjoyable evening!
Nice Italian restaurant in downtown Sarasota. Close to Westin and Ritz. Great wine menu and superb food
The wine was stale. The calamari was appropriately salted and peppered enough to hide its rubbery texture and to mask it’s fridge’s age. The service reflected what you’d expect out of badly managed team. Overall, it’s a place I will never go back to, an experience I will surely avoid, al all costs.
This was our first visit to Casantica but it will not be the last. Our server, Victor, was very professional and helpful. Both entrees (my wife had the grilled salmon and I had chicken marsala) were terrific and the house wines complimented the meal nicely. A terrific evening! We'll be back often.
This is our 4th or 5th time in the last year - living here over 35 years and just discovered this gem in April. Fabulous fresh Italian Food, great wine selection and service! Ambiance is intimate - we will be back!
As usual Roberto, his wife, family and team were outstanding! We had an amazing date night And always look forward to returning again.
Beef over cooked.
Very romantic, authentic Italian food. Loved it very much and will return next time I’m in town.
Food was delicious but I find it a little over board that when a side of pasta comes with your dinner you charge $4 more if we want oil and garlic and not sauce.
The pasta didn’t even fill up a cup. Besides I spent $80 on a bottle of wine. That’s excessive for pasta.
Casantica is always an amazing experience! We always make a point to come here every time we visit Sarasota
very good food and service, good menu selection and specials. nice romantic atmosphere. Wasn't very busy but everything was great.
Food was excellent and staff was very accommodating to our need for an early reservation because of theater tickets.
