Casablanca Seafood Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
As usual every time we spend some days in Miami we have a night at Casablanca
Usually the weather is better and is nice to stay in the veranda looking at the marina
This time was cold and even if the waitress was nice the had the heaters broken!
For the rest everything was good as usual...
Oysters at half a price, whole fried and grilled fish....good location, good dining
More attention to the details could make this great instead of good.
Awful from the start. Service was slow and because we didn't speak Spanish little attention was given. It was extremely hot in the restaurant and bc a Spanish speaking table next to us couldn't take the sun, they closed the shutters making it look like a dungeon. We knew as soon as we got out of our Uber we should've turned around.
It so happens that I went on a Wednesday, which is the day they have raw oysters at half price. This is prominently advertised on the menu and in the restaurant. Sure enough, they did not have any oysters, and the waitress told us that they have not had any for a while. So she suggested that we had stone crabs, which were Ok but very expensive. Overall the food was just so-so (more of a greasy spoon than anything) and the service passable. Although there were not many customers when we went, it was hard to get someone's attention when we needed it. They're in a great location on the river, and if management or the ownership cared a little more, this should be a gem. Not the first time I'm disappointed there, BTW. Too bad, there are other nice restaurants on that same stretch.
They need to really step it up...
We've come here a lot in the last few months and there's a lot to improve on, from the absent waiters and the very stale chips served with a decent fish dip to the mediocre food. Some boaters are allowed to leave their motors running with the fumes wafting into the restaurant which is so horrible. They have some nice wines and beers but the rest needs serious improvement. We brought some out of town guests in for the view primarily, as it was a nice evening, but over cooked conch fritters , cold fries, stale buns on the fish sandwiches and worst of all was a salmon salad posing as a leafy plate with fresh salmon on top , thats not what arrived. what we got instead was a breaded, deep fried, salmon in a tortilla bowl of drowned leaves soggy and gross, after we sent it back, it took 45 mins to get a nice freshly grilled piece of salmon. They have lovely fresh fish but slow service and a chef that needs a revamp.....
We went there specifically for " Wednesday half off oysters," but they were "out of oysters." They were also out of the next thing we ordered . I personally ordered the salad with salmon on top and it came out fried, even though the menu didn't say anything about the salmon being fried. Couldn't eat it bc of food allergies. My new food came out after my friends were done eating . Would have been nice if they gave us at least a free round of drinks . They didn't even accept the suggestion and pretended we weren't even there
We went on a Wednesday for Oyster happy hour and there were NO oysters. We stuck around since we already ordered and opened a bottle of wine. The wait staff was very friendly and the food that we did eat (whole fried snapper, octopus ceviche and something else I don't remember the name of) was delicious. We were just disappointed at the no oysters scenario. Overall though, it was a nice place with great views and friendly wait staff. I would recommend eating here.
Our waitress was great and our busboy, Aldo, was fantastic. Everything was fabulous, up until I called because we had left something behind. The hostess, or whoever answered the phone, was very rude and took down our number to call us back. That was about 7 hours ago, and I'm still waiting. We drove quite a distance to get to the restaurant, and we were almost home by the time we noticed the missing item. Unfortunately , that incident marred an otherwise wonderful experience.
Food and service was spectacular, and on a middle of the week evening getting a reservation was no problem. The area is still pretty dim and the restaurants and other businesses haven't done much to spruce up the facades, but you're really tee for the river view and the food!@
We were welcomed at the door the friendly hostess. She waited while girls enjoyed the tropical salt water fish tank. We sat outside away from the dock. Yes, you can drive your boat right up! Drinks can right away. No wait on food. The waiter was friendly , helpful and unbothered by our indecisiveness. We enjoyed everything Michel suggested. The entire staff brought out free (delicious) brownie andsang happy birthday. Valet is available and not expensive. There were other guest not very busy. Not noisy. The music clean up to date music. Seafood is fresh. The drinks were tasty and appealing to eye. Nice atmosphere. Going back this week. For drinks and calamari.
I don't remember my server's name, but she wasn't as attentive or as knowledgable as I would like the person serving my beverages & food to be.
Aside from that, we had the coconut shrimp that was good, as well as the sizzling octopus which was a little over cooked (rubbery). The Snapper al pescador was tasty but could have done without the sauce it was drenched in.
The best part was the dessert, a brownie with ice cream.
Will I return.?
Next time though, I'm getting a steak.
We gathered to celebrate the friendships. Casablanca is right on the Miami River. The outside patio is very pleasant. The fish was fresh. Very delicious grouper sandwich. The French Fries were crispy and hand cut. The service was just right. Water glasses were kept filled and food came on time. The table was cleared without disrupting the conversation.
I made reservations for Sunday, 11:15am. When we got to the restaurant, fortunately early, they said they DO NOT take reservations on Saturday and Sunday. Better revise your program. However that did not prevent us from getting a nice table and getting good service.
