Casa Romero is the hottest spot to be on 5 de Mayo. We are the oldestMEXICAN resturant in Boston and there is not another place that even comes close to mastering our Margaritas. We open at 12pm and reservations are a must. If your lucky you could get a space on our amazing patio!!! Viva Mexico

Casa Romero is the perfect spot to treat mom to an unforgettable Mexican dinner. We will be open at 12pm. Wether permitting our patio is the coziest in the city for this special day. Mothers day Margaritas are always a winner.

Wonderful food - creative tacos. Very attentive service. PIped-in music could have been eliminated since conversation at our table and others was quiet and respectful.
Awesome as always.
It waa very good!!Will repeat next time when in Boston!!
We enjoyed the meal - but it was Sunday night and still definitely felt pressure to turn over the table as fast as possible. As soon as we finished the entree the server was there with the bill for payment. We were seated for less than 40 minutes at this point.
Great food and service! We made a reservation and had to wait a few minutes for our table, but once we were seated, the service was attentive and the food was delicious. Other reviewers commented they felt rushed but I did not feel that way at all. Great experience!
We ordered two vegetarian entrees and two with meat. Everyone enjoyed the food, appreciated the portion sizes, and respected our knowledgeable and helpful waiter. We would have looked at the desserts if we didn’t have a concert to get to. We were impressed with the efficient service. Our other friends will hear about Casa Romero from us.
We ate here with another couple. We arrived about 20 minutes late, but they held our reservation...which was definitely needed for a Saturday night. The food was delicious, tasted fresh and authentic. The ambience is very "mexican", and because you're downstairs in a basement type area, the ceilings are very low. Tables are close together, so you may feel a bit claustrophobic after a while. The drinks were very good, and not too pricey. Would definitely recommend!
We love Casa Romero! Long-time customers. We come every time we are in Boston! Excellent in every way!
Amazing. I'm definitely going back and I recommend others to go as well. The staff was friendly and helpful; the food was divine; the margs (yes, that's an intentional abbreviation) were heavenly.
We love Casa Romero...for everyday dinners and special occasions, dinner for two or parties of six or more. Great drinks, food, salsa and chips, chicken fajitas, guacamole....wonderful service at reasonable prices!
food was excellent but our reservation at 6:45 was squeezed into an hour and 45 minutes. And to make it more uncomfortable. While eating desert and coffee they removed our water glasses. The bill is delivered on a machine with a 25% tip assumed and one needs to opt out of that .
Id call this a noisy fast food restaurant that was too busy.
A Boston hidden gem. Service is slow but friendly. Food tastes fresh and of good quality. The only downside to this place is price and value. It’s very expensive for Mexican and the portion sizes are small.
Our go-to favorite Boston restaurant - especially before Symphony. We've loved this place for over 35 years!
Best authentic Mexican food we have ever had. Absolutely delicious. Wonderful service as well.
Felt like I stepped into Mexico! Loved the cozy authentic feel. Definitely recommend for many different occasions.
On the expensive side. But makes sense because it’s in back bay.
good food great atmosphere
There was a lot of pressure to turn the table over, including asking us to move to another table while dining and repeatedly pressured us to order and finish.
I lived in Boston (Back Bay) in the early 90's and loved this restaurant. I now live in Newport, and mentioned to a friend how much I had I had loved this restaurant. When they told me Casa Romero was still going strong I was thrilled. Happy to report is did not disappoint, service, spicy cucumber margaritas were great and the chicken mole enchiladas were even better than I recalled!
A classic favorite for many years now!
Nice ambiance and delicious food! The margaritas are delicious
Very authentic cuisine. Amazing food. We both ordered dishes with the molé and it was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of spicy. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service was great. Even the front door to get into the place is stunning. I love that it's slightly tucked away around the corner from the main street. Will definitely go back there the next time we're in Boston. Highly recommended.
Food and drinks tasted really good, but pricey for what it was worth. Also they did not offer sides of guacamole and did not tell me that until after my food came when I requested a side of guac. It was only until after I asked that they informed me of this.
I also was thrown off because the waiter hovered over me when I was paying the bill and was watching me input my tip. It came on an ipad and the waiter swiped my card in front of me. Because it was electronic I was unable to tip less than 18%. This made me uncomfortable.
Overpriced for portion size. An authentic Mexican restaurant serves up more rice and beans. Casa Romero gives you like, three tablespoons of rice and beans each and they’re the cheapest food item on the menu.
Casa Romero is a much loved long time favorite restaurant. Comfortably elegant, gracious and attentive service, delicious food, vibrant but not noisy.
As mexicans, my husband and I, we can say we loved the restaurant!! The food has authentic flavor, it really transport you to México!
Despite having a reservation, we were seated almost 1/2 hour late. Service was disappointing, 2 of our orders were incorrect and someone came to fill water glasses but neglected half the table. Based on the reviews and crowd, I thought the food would at least be great. The food was okay, I would even say good, but it didn't taste authentic and wasn't anything special. Overall it was a disappointing night out. The margaritas were really good though :-)
Delicious food and drinks! Little pricey for Mexican, but it was good!
I've been to Casa Romero a number of times and the quality of food and service has always been consistently good. I started off with the "Perfect Margarita" and ordered "Enchiladas Verdes." You won't be disappointed.
Great place! Margaritas were delicious and the food very authentic. Great night!
My favorite restaurant in all of Boston!! The food and service are outstanding!
Not sure if I should give it a 5 star review as I want to keep it for myself :)
The shrimp flaudas where close to being the best food I ever had. Cocktail where great & the complementary nachos where to die for.
This is a hidden gem.... The Uber driver had never seen the place yet it is really close to the Newbury/Boylston
We have been to Casa Romero many times and it never disappoints. The decor is cosy and charming, the service is excellent, and the salsa and guacamole are always fresh. We almost always have the enchiladas verdes--very cheesy with a tasty sauce. A neighborhood gem.
A bit of a frustrating experience. We were using a Phantom Gourmet gift card we had received and Casa Romero was listed as a participating restaurant. When we tried to pay with the gift card, we were told the "machine" that handled the gift card had been down for two weeks. I felt they should have given me a discount since it was not my problem that the machine was not working.
The best Mexican food in Boston. Delicious family recipes.
reliable good food...mine was not as hot as it could have been but that is unusual.
It can be noise but they moved us to another table so we could have more quite
Fabulous food and spectacular service. I have been visiting Casa Romero for many years and have never been disappointed.
The entrance is neat, little tucked in cubby door. I liked the ambiance, it was cozy and relaxing. Unfortunately the wait staff was horrendous and inattentive. It took us calling them over multiple times to order anything. We were seated immediately, water took about 10 minutes, ordering food was close to double that, and food preparation was a solid half hour. Getting the check also took asking 3 different members of the wait staff
By far the best authentic Mexican food I've ever had!
