No wonder why this restaurant has been around for so many years. Good quality of food along with very healthy portions. You should make sure you are hungry when going there because if you should order a full course, you'll be taking a lot of food home.
Old school steak house in downtown Orinda . . . . fun & unpretentious! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection & that is all I care about in my steakhouse experience!
The hostess was not very friendly. The waiter was not pleasant and the food tasted bad. The fried chicken was dry! But the restaurant itself looks really nice and cozy.
Casa Orinda is a perennial favorite of ours. My wife alternates between the prime rib and the fried chicken. I like the veal dishes and their chicken versions. On this visit, the special was rack of lamb. It was a 16 ounce portion, four double chops, and cooked perfectly. The ambiance of the restaurant owes a lot to the cattle ranch décor.
Excellent Food! Waiter was very personable and attentive. Old school bar with great
Vodka Gimlet!!! Will go back soon.
Excellent as always. We have been dining here for over 50 years!!!
Our experience is always very good service is always excellent and the food is great love the fried chicken and prime rib
Birthday celebration for my son with family and friends. Could not have been better.
Food, Service, Cocktails, and Special Treatment for Birthday Cake. Always a great place
for good food and fun. A family favorite for many years.
Love the casa
This restaurant serves comfort food: fried chicken, prime rib, southern Italian dishes, and so forth. The food is very good, but not suitable for foodies. It tends to be heavy, large portions, and lightly to moderately seasoned. The food has improved recently, particularly the vegetables. The service is always very professional. The decor is amusing: cowboy themed and photos of Orinda in the old days. Most nights, the clientele consists of relatively old people or young families.
Went just for an evening out. Actually went for the fried chicken, which is also fantastic. All food is vey good.
The rack of lamb surpassed my expectations! And my Brother continues to rave over the sweetbreads!
Good service, good food, moderate noise level, nice ambiance
except for a bit of inattention from our server after dinner (had to find her to pay) it was perfect
Very warm and friendly. ..1st time ..party if 4...Chicken was great, prime rib was gynormous, sword fish dinner was perfect
It was noisy and food was only mediocre. Lots of food..no one really wanted doggie bags..Not impressed.
Maybe we should have had the fried chicken..
Having eaten at the Casa many times I am not surprised by how noisy it becomes as the dining areas fill but over time I'm becoming less tolerant. Normal mealtime conversation becomes almost impossible as everyone in the place raises their voice to be heard. I have no suggestion to improve the situation but guests should be aware the ambiance changes as the night goes on and there is no area remaining peaceful by 7 PM.
One reason they are famous for their fried chicken is it's made in batches as orders come in rather than pre-cooked for expected nightly load. On this occasion my fried chicken order was significantly over cooked. This did not ruin my experience but with the expected wait for it to arrive I was frustrated the kitchen hadn't paid appropriate attention to the cooking process. I will return for another meal but if this happens again the place will be off my list of regularly enjoyed restaurants.
Had the parents in town and brought them here for the fried chicken. Great as always!
Everything you want in a restaurant!
Another great family birthday dinner at Casa Orinda
Best fried chicken EVER!!
Great place to dine on good old fashioned food!
The food was delicious and our server was excellent and friendly. We were even able to get a table in front of the fireplace,!
Excellent dining experience...as always! Fantastic food and perfect cocktails!
If you want an "old school" restaurant with amazing fried chicken, this is the place!
My only real criticism is how loud it gets, but it’s a super popular restaurant and the food was excellent!
Always a treat. I have met people here who came with their grandparents and now are doing the same with their children's children. The dining room is quieter if you need that for close conversation. The mahogany carved bar is fun topped with horns from Texas long horned steers and western memorabilia. Friendly and fun wait staff. At some hours you have to be patient for a table because people do not want to leave.
I always order the steak sandwich, you get a good value for the price. The lemon pie is good to die for.
Dinner meal was excellent as always. Best fried chicken this side of the Mississippi!
This is one of the most unique, incredible places to eat in the entire bay area. Comfort food at its best but lots of other choices as well that are lovely but all I ever have is the fabulous fried chicken with the hot biscuit, honey and gravy and mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked seasonal vegetables all for under $22. Where can you get such a value? The atmosphere in this traditional dark wooded cozy fireplace scene is marvelous. My only wish is that it would be open at lunchtime – if so, I would be here twice a month.
This Monday 3/12/18 the Famous Fried Chicken scored 100%. Hot, Crispy & succulent..it occasionally can fall a bit short in those categories if this gets back to Casa tell C Rose or Claudia to let the kitchen know & thank them (and try to keep that level going!)
It was my father-in-law’s 94th birthday. When I made reservations I noted it on open table and the hostess noted it when we arrived. They never brought him a dessert with a candle as most restaurants do. I was very disappointed.
All the food was greatly under seasoned, the salt shaker was slow flowing and had to unscrew lid to season our food. I’ll stick to the chicken from now on, steaks we’re over cooked and under seasoned and over priced. Also ordered creme brûlée along with 2 other deserts. The brûlée had been done before it was refrigerated, was old and watery, uneatable as well as ceasaur salads. No one even questioned why some foods weren’t eaten.
Excellent dining experience, as always. Love this place!
A perennial classic. Fun, low key, reliable. Great for parents, double dates, etc. All the house specialities deliver.
I hadn't been here in at least 20 years, it was jyst as good as I remembered. My boyfriend had never been here and loved it.
Had excellent dinners, the Fried Chicken is not to be passed up if you are really hungry! Our server Patty went above and beyond to be helpful and gave us just the right amount of attention.
Great local find. Reasonable prices and diverse menu. The prime rib was very nice. Minor issue but they don’t have a lot of appetizer options, especially to share.
My husband and I brought our granddaughter here to celebrate her birthday. We were taking her on a "walk down memory lane" as this is the restaurant my family used to frequent when I was a little girl. My memories were of a fun, friendly atmosphere, which seems to have disappeared over the years. There was no acknowledgement of our granddaughter, not even a wish for a happy birthday, and no personal interaction from the hostess nor the server in spite of my trying to engage with them. I guess I should have continued to enjoy my memories instead of trying to recreate them.
Overall our experience was okay. We had a 7:45pm reservation for 5. We were taken to our table and waited about 20 minutes for someone to approach us before asking the hostess to get some drinks started for us. She brought them back and about 20 minutes after that our waiter came by to let us know that he didn’t know our table was in his section. We ordered some appetizers (the chicken wings were awesome) and finished those and another round of drinks before we ordered our dinner. The chicken parm was good, the famous fried chicken was also good but the biscuit on top was the best part. Our waiter was nice but service was quite slow. It was a Friday evening so it’s more understandable but we spent about 2.5 hours there. The ambiance inside is nice, but I think we probably would have been better off dining more casually at the bar.
