Casa Orinda has been serving the finest Western and Italian food in the area for the past 84 years. We are famous for our fried chicken, prime beef, and classic Italian pasta, chicken, and veal dishes -- everything being made from scratch in our kitchen using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients.

Our full service mahogany bar is a popular stop for locals and visitors looking for a nice refreshment and a hearty meal in a cozy, friendly atmosphere. We have three dining rooms, each with a slightly different character afforded by our hand-formed brass hearth fireplace, Western original art collection, famous antique gun collection, and alluring floral arrangements.

The place has been upgraded with a new menu but I always go ther for the fried chicken.

Although I was disappointed to how high the price has gone and the fact that they had no proper hot sauce, just tabasco.

We were seated early. The place was busy but we had trouble getting our beverages. The beet salad was average. The lamb chops arrived with French fries instead of the baked potato, which was brought out 10 minutes later. Fried chicken was only warm. Mixed vegetables were warm but watery, and the water leaked over to saturate the mashed potatoes. Disappointing experience.

I liked the location in Orinda, a cute town. Valet parking made it convenient. The old west atmosphere was great. I am not a gun person but was fascinated by the gun collection that was on the premises. I would have liked a larger lounge area as we came an hour early to have a drink and chat but seating was limited. Our waiter was attentive and the food was good. Our friends loved the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I recommend it, athough it is not a very good place to bring young children.

Excellent food. Excellent service. Only complaint would be the $9 Jack and Coke served in a “kid-size” juice glass that was very watered down. There was barely a splash of Jack. Very disappointing.

I always order the fried chicken. It’s amazing. But my wife likes to experiment with other dishes and said she loves most of them.

Needed a reservation on a Monday night. Didn't wait long once the hostess actually appeared at the desk. Ordered Lasagna, and gave an alternative, just in case. Waited a while to order and get Wine and Salads. But everything was good. She brought the Ravioli alternative without notice. It was barely warm. Taste was pretty good. Hubby liked his fried chicken. Dinner for two was nearly 2 hours. Nice job on the water refills and cozy fire.

Been going to Casa Orinda with our parents since we were kids in the late 50's. Even more fun now! Great ambience... we were recently there on a cold, rainy night and sat in the fireplace room. Perfect! It still feels like one of those old time, dark and romantic restaurants... great place for a martini and a steak. A martini and Canelloni. A martini and Fried Chicken!!! Enjoyed our evening immensely and highly recommend this place.

David and I enjoyed a delightful early dinner at Casa Orinda. We were seated in the side room and it was
beautifully decorated with a large vase of fresh flowers and quiet being away from the bar area.
The appetizers and our favorite-the fried chicken dinner were delicious and fulfilled every wish.
Service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. Always a timeless favorite.

My family has been going to the Casa since the mid 1940s. This place is consistent, with excellent service. I like the valet service and the wait staff are excellent. This is not the place to go for a gourmet adventure, but it is the place for consistently good service and food and drink at a fair price. The old west art and guns are interesting an have been there all the while.

Food-my rack of lamb was great (medium rare)! It was tender and very flavorable. 2 Prime ribs (medium) - meat not tender and both very dry. Portions were generous! Ravioli, meatballs and spaghetti- both were good but portions very small. Wait staff great! Very noisy restaurant though.

The service was good...The waitress for our party was attentive and nice.
The noise level was high at 8 pm on a Thursday night. Not a spot for quiet conversation.
The issue was the food. I ordered the famous fried chicken....But subbed fries for the mashed potatoes as the last time I was there the latter was watery and tasteless. I got fries but was served the itty bits and pieces from the bottom of the basket. My table partner got a bigger portion and complete fries.
The vegetables were tastless.....No butter or salt, apparently. The chicken ok but not enough coating...Not worthy of "famous"...Maybe it used to be. I will not go back. One person in party left their Alfredo as it was tastless (see a pattern?) And another had over fried shrimp. So disappointed.

It’s an icon in Orinda. Need I say more. Orinda. Sporadic service. Ambience below an IHOP. And food to boost your cholesterol by 45%. Satisfy your curiosity and go once to say you did. Then avoid forever more!

Old time restaurant in Orinda that is living on its laurels. Other than the chicken, which is its strong suit, the rest of the menu is ordinary, most lacking imagination and flavor. The wine list is "vin ordinaire", at San Francisco prices. Bartenders personalities, unless you are a regular, tend to ignore you, other than Rocco.
If one is in the area, give it a try and judge for yourself...you may like it.

The food here is mediocre. We had bread, two different salads (green salad and caesar), fettuccine, and sauteed prawns. All were uninteresting and bland. Yes, even the bread! This place is pricey for the low quality food. They also didn't credit me for my Open Table reservation. The only plus to this place is it has free valet parking. We won't be back.
