Our full service mahogany bar is a popular stop for locals and visitors looking for a nice refreshment and a hearty meal in a cozy, friendly atmosphere. We have three dining rooms, each with a slightly different character afforded by our hand-formed brass hearth fireplace, Western original art collection, famous antique gun collection, and alluring floral arrangements.
We truly enjoy Casa Orinda, and find it very difficult to stray away from ordering their fried chicken. It's famous and never disappoints. This night there was a Dover Sole amandine special that sounded so much lighter and appealing on this hot night. WOW, hot night or not, this was a fabulous dish. Can I recommend they add it permanently to the menu? I think my go to favorite would change! Who knows, they have such a great selection already. Service was always very attentive without being oppressive and the suggestions we're spot on. Another great visit to Casa Orinda!
If you want hearty, deliciously prepared, and perfectly cooked food, served piping hot by an attentive server, Casa Orinda is for you. Whether I order meat, fish, or fowl, it's always cooked perfectly, exactly as I requested. The veggies are al dente and never overdressed. It's delicious, no frills food, with extra thought to maximizing flavors and sauces, without paying over $100 per person for the experience. Drinks are delicious, and the homemade pies are terrific. My only wish is for Casa Orinda to improve the quality of their coffee - good desserts need to be complemented with good coffee like Peet's, or better yet, Blue Bottle.
The first time I went there I was probably six and went many many times when I lived in Lafayette. I am now 67 years old and I still love this place. I had the fried chicken, WOW WOW still as good as I remember. Our waiter was fantastic and funny. We loved the free valet parking.
Always absoluely Delicious! And our waitress is always friendly and efficient.
very nice place. "Local gem" but VERY crowded on a Friday night and noisy. Food was good
and a good value.
I have eaten there more than once. The good had gone down hill. Our appetizer was not appetizing. It was not hot and over cooked and soggy. My baked potatoe was over cooked and not appealing. The fried chicken did deliver but only a B.
They are just cranking out the meals.
So happy to see a familiar face from Lark Creek now working at Casa Orinda!
Casa wonderful as always. Perfect time to go quiet end of the summer crowd. We had the fried chicken and the fish special . Both were perfect. The summer salads were great. Blueberry pie was amazing.
I have dined at Casa Orinda for sixty-nine years and it is predictably good every time!
Once again, Casa did not disappoint us. The service was excellent, the food was great and we sat in the fireplace room, so it was quite lovely. No complaints!
Wonderful food as always! The service was a bit slow but the place was packed. We had reservations but had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. Noise level a bit loud with so many people. I think week days might be better than the weekend.
Casa Orinda is modern dining living in the 60's. Great prime rib, steaks, and fried chicken. Definitely worth a return visit just for the atmosphere. Terrific Greyhounds made with fresh grapefruit juice.
Great food, drink and all around awesome spot. Highly recommend Fried Chicken
The Casa is our go to place when we are looking for delicious comfort food. We love the prime rib and the really great fried chicken. They are so generous with their portions that you will most likely be taking some home. The waitstaff are all so friendly and they make you feel right at home. We were there on a busy Sunday night, but the wait was not long and they kept us informed as to when our table would be ready. There is a reason they have been in business for close to 70 years!
This old standby never disappoints. Great variety on the menu so that you can find something for everyone. Service is five star. Wonderful bar and of course terrific food.
Delayed service, seated next to others when other tables were available, customers who arrived after us were helped first(regular customers)
Love the staff! Food is homey and comforting
Excellent food and service
But I would ask for the quietest corner. Our server is aware we couldn't hear her. We realize most restaurants are noisy these days., but...
We have dined here many times. The food is consistently good, wine list okay, service efficient and friendly. Guess 7:30 on a Saturday night isn't the time to go if you hope to have a conversation with your tablemate. It was so loud we had to meet in the middle of the 2-top table to hear each other. Not the restaurant's fault, but rather the people who don't have "inside" voices.
My wife loves the fried chicken and biscuits. The veal cutlet was very good as always. I wish the gravy was served in something that keeps it warm. Comfort food.
I do like this place. Is it the best food ever? No, but the ambiance and the people make it worth it...love the historical element!
I love sitting at the bar! Service and food is reliable and good.
The noise level at dinner is over-powering. The back DR needs a sound buffer of some sort. And too much noise travels in from the fireplace room.
Food is well prepared but took almost 40 minutes to receive both the chicken & penne-pasta plates.
Casa Orinda has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years, and the visit in August was the third one we have made in the last 6 weeks. We were VERY disappointed. The fried chicken (usually superb) was dry. The veal was so tough my friend had to ask for a steak knife to cut it, and my chicken Marsala had very few pieces of mushroom, and the gravy had no Marsala flavor - it was just brown sauce! The only good thing was the biscuit, which was light and delicious as usual.
Service was also very poor. It took about 20 minutes for our glasses of wine to arrive, and the servers were not attentive at all.
We all agreed that Casa Orinda was having a bad night. I hope that this is not a harbinger of things to come. We will probably wait a couple of months before returning.
Great food. Love their roasted chicken and biscuits with honey. We go here every year for our birthdays. Wonderful people. Must have reservations. They gave us small sundries for our birthdays.
Great fried chicken and prime rib.
Love love love the fried chicken dinner not to mention the great staff.
Always enjoy going to Casa Orinda. Good food and service. Love the look and feel of the restaurant as well
So much such good food and drinks and a great staff. Our local classic.
We love Casa Orinda for a quiet dinner out. Good is always excellent especially the fried chicken dinner. Sat night appears to be an evening for “regulars” who know the staff & enjoy a night out—we fit right in!
We were served our appetizers and no plates arrived. Had to request them.
Had to find the waiter to ask for the sauce that was to accompany one of the dishes.
Over all the food was good but service can be an issue
Better than mama’s fried chicken. Comfortable atmosphere and friendly people. It’s a ways to drive but worth the trip. Only our second time here, first time for the chicken.
Attentive service, great food and cocktails, lovely old school atmosphere that I adore. Would highly recommend.
Fresh veggies cooked aldente, my flounder was yummy. My dinner date enjoyed her food also... love this restraint. Pricey.
Nicole was excellent.
Great Food, Great place, and Great experience. I have been eating here for years, and I will continue to come to this amazing place.
We've always enjoyed Casa Orinda, and the Caesar salad (with anchovies) was great, as was their famous fried chicken, but the prime rib was a bit of a disappointment because it was somewhat over the medium rare that we requested: we had forgotten that this has happened before. It's a good idea to ask for a cook on the prime rib that is a notch lower than what you really want. In other words, we should have asked for a cook that is "on the rare side." And the Manhattan cocktail seemed overly sweet with red vermouth, which is another lesson we learned and should remember: the bartenders are pros there and can make drinks to your taste, you just have to ask. Still and all, Casa Orinda is a very reliable and tasty place to dine.
We had a fantastic time there. Everything was much better than I expected. I definitely will go back and try their new wine from Noria wines :) Thank you so much for an awesome job!
Food and service was amazing as always. Fried chicken was delicious!!
Love the history and the contemporary culinary offerings!
