Casa Lever Ratings and Reviews
Romantic ambiance and modern elegant surroundings. Fantastic wine list and delicious food, although the gnutti portion left me wondering if they left half of it in the kitchen. I had noted on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. However we were not offered dessert at all at the end of the meal, much less anything special for the guest of honor. Waiter asked if we wanted coffee - all declined but did not offer dessert at all which I thought meant they don't serve it. Would have been the perfect ending to the meal considering I was still hungry from the small portion of my entree.
Even for New York standards the maitre d was exceptional. Having a great restaurant is one thing, having a maitre d who can accommodate last minute changes (we went from 2 to 4 people right at 12:30) without missing a beat (whining is common place) is what truly makes the difference. Bravo.
I know why the bar was totally empty and the restaurant was not full at 8:30 PM on a Saturday night. The "management" is lacking. I asked for our party of four to be seated at a table where no diners are facing a wall. I saw 2 available in the main dining room but we were put in a corner table for six in the back. We were dressed beautifully and that was not an issue. The food is excellent but to say the service is slow would be an understatement - a 3 hour meal. Our party was the second to last to leave the restaurant but it still took 1/2 hour after we ordered 4 geloto deserts. There are too many good restaurants in Manhattan to go back to Casa Lever.
We had an amazing lunch here. We were lucky enough to be there when they had their white truffle menu and I got the risotto with white truffles. It was so amazing that I couldn't stop talking about it. My husband got the arrabiata pasta and it was equally wonderful. It was just spicy enough and toped with delicious garlic chips. The waiter recommended the perfect wines to go with our meals and he also picked their signature chocolate dessert out for us. The menu is pricey but worth every penny!
I requested a table for private business talk and never at those table on wall side as it’s quite close to the next tables. That was noted at reservation and confirmed a few times even when I received a call to confirm my reservation in the morning, the table was the one of those table along the wall side.
It should be kindly mentioned at least if there’s any chance not to accommodate as it wasn’t pleasant to be seated in the crowd for that particular situation.
Not guaranteed your request for business finding is quite a challenge.
Looking forward to returning. The restaurant is beautiful. The service is welcoming and professional. The food is absolutely delicious. Appetizer of prosciutto and burrata was mouth- watering. Entrees of pappardelle and rabbit ragu, and tortelli with buffalo ricotta, eggplant, and tomato transported us to Milan. A fabulous dining experience.
The service was excellent and hostess and greeter went out of there way to accompany me to my table where my companion had been seated because I was stuck in the subway for 45 minutes. service by others was fine. complem, entary cookies were delivered to table. On the negative side, the noise level was very loud. Boothes might be a better choice.
booked because of location; hoping for an adequate dining experience. remarkably, I was pleasantly surprised with all elements of the dining experience. for a restaurant that at first seems almost boisterous, all of the 6 or seven dishes we ordered were way above average, and the simple spaghetti arrabbiata was as good as any I've had ( the "doneness" of the spaghetti was perfect and the sauce perfectly spicy —but not hot for "hot's sake). combined with professional and attentive service, it was nice to be able to add it to my list of reliable and pleasant NYC dining experiences.
As someone who grew up with a Florentine Nonna whose cooking has stood the test of time and travel, I was suitably impressed by the dishes we sampled at Casa Lever, especially the vitello tonnato which was the best I've eaten outside of Nonna's kitchen or Northern Italy. The modernist decor is understated and a perfect backdrop for the owner's collection of 50-odd original Andy Warhol paintings; the service professional yet friendly; the cost reasonable considering the quality of the entire experience.
We went to Casa Lever for Restaurant Week and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The
decor is intriguing, the service was just right and the food was lovely and interesting. The salmon entree was absolutely perfect! Except for one table (of 6) the noise level was much
more comfortable than most NY restaurants.
