Casa D' Angelo Ratings and Reviews
Always a favorite place to dine with family, friends and business associates. Brought a few business associates here for dinner and they thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. Two seafood and pasta dishes and one sea bass. I had salmon. All were prepared perfectly and service was friendly and enjoyable. DELICIOUS!
As always the food and most of the service was wonderful - however for some reason there were at least double the staff and the were just standing in the middle of the space - it was a little off-putting
But - the sommelier remembered me and brought me in for a tour of the wine room!
When you dine at Casa D'Angelo you always have high expectations. Their signature Veal Chop in Mushroom Sauce is the best in South Florida and this visit was no exception. The food experience is always top notch. Unfortunately that is where it ended. It was a Birthday dinner for my wife. I mentioned it to the hostess who greeted us and she acknowledged that she would let the waiter know. It seems the policy of the restaurant is to do nothing more than provide a candle to a dessert of your choice which you must order and pay for. We didn't know this in advance and when asked if we wanted to order dessert ,we passed, expecting that we would get some type of celebratory dessert brought to the table . Nothing happened ,so we paid the check and mentioned this to the hostess on the way out and you read the policy response. The manager intervened and suggested we call him the next time we decide to have dinner at the restaurant. The meal was great ,but I felt bad for my wife who might have expected me to have a little something prepared in advance to celebrate her day.
For years this was my "go-to" restaurant in Ft Lauderdale - I often ate there 3-4 nihgts in a row when in town. So it was a shock and huge disappointment to find under what appers to be new management the quality has plummeted. My salmon was not fresh and the broccoli rabe was a soggy mess. Our server officious, strident, just going through motions grudgingly with no sense of her role. Sadly, I would never return there: it's always disappointing when an old restaurant favorite goes down the tubes.
First experience made us think we had found our 'spot' for Italian... reminiscent of being in Italy. Brought personal VIP's (world travelling parental units) to experience what we had touted to be 'pretty close'. Yep... fell waaaay short this go around. First visit... place was slammed to the point of uncomfortable. However, food was spot on. This go around we avoided the chaos and came early to have an all around exquisite experience. Appetizers and salad were on point. Main entrees were not finished due to quality. 3 of 4 were cold or luke warm when they arrived. Dessert was fair... Ricotta Cheesecake... top was not protected during bake off and it was dry. The Creme Anglaise helped but we still didnt finish. Service was okay... our server was cocky... just no need for it. I've got the means to go and do what I want... I dont need attitude. We had the same server on the first visit. To be fair, I am hyper critical when it comes to service. I waived off the attitude the first go around. Not this time.
Every establishment is entitled to an off night. At the price this establishment demands (wine list has a 400% markup against local purveyors)... they cant afford the off night. We will give it another shot. We are hopeful we wont need to begin the search again.
Caught early dinner before a show. Enjoyed the outdoor seating area this time. The food has been much better than this last visit. I had the pasta special, which was a bit too al dente and my partner had the bolognese that was overcooked. I will continue to recommend and will return regardless of this last experience.
I was surprised how delicious the food was at this restaurant. The portions were ample and the service was professional. The atmosphere was so festive for a Tuesday night. The branzino was perfectly prepared and the prawns were delicious. We just had a wonderful time and will certainly be back. This is truly a gem!
My wife had truffle pasta and absolutely loved it. My risotto was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The wine selection is great. The only critic would be that service was great at first but once the place got crowded it changed towards the slow and less attentive. However, great experience overall.
My wife and I stayed at the Fort Lauderdale beach area for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On our last night there, we went to Casa D'Angelo for dinner. We frequently dine at Angelo Elias in Parkland, but had never been to Casa D'Angelo. It was extraordinary! They clearly pay attention to details, whether it is the quality of ingredients, the excellent service or the food preparation. Since it was our anniversary, we asked the waiter if he could take a couple of photos. He took us into the wine room for some nice photos.
Decided to try out this place on a Saturday night. We had a 9pm reservation and were running about 10 minutes late due to the rain from Philippe. We did call ahead and let the hostess know. Upon arriving, our table was not ready and it was suggested that we wait in the bar. We decided to order drinks and in less than 10 minutes, our table was ready. Our server, Hector, even carried our drinks over from the bar for us. The restaurant was completely crazy busy and very noisy. Reminded me of going out in NYC. We ordered off the specials' menu and it did NOT disappoint! Some reviewers complained about the prices....our meal did not cost anything out of the ordinary for a better restaurant. If you want great food, yes, sometimes it may cost a little more.
Everyone was dressed nice and there was a nice combination of couples, families and groups of friends out for the night. Hector took great care of us and the food was fantastic! Do not let the fact that they are located in a strip mall deter you from trying this place out. It was well worth it!! If you do not like loud restaurants with little personal space, then this is not the place for you. My husband and I went here for a date night and absolutely enjoyed the vibe, food, drinks and service at this establishment. We have definitely found our new favorite Italian place!
We had an amazing dinner with our sever Aba! The appetizer Gamberi Mamma was extraordinary and the lasagna was also incredible. Our party of 8 enjoyed all their meals. Thank you Angelo and Denise for the wonderful experience and warm hospitality. We will definitely be back!
