Casa D' Angelo Ratings and Reviews
We have come here every year while vacationing in the area. This is the first year I rated the food less. A pasta dish was lovely with the sauce but the pasta was undercooked and the fish was very strong. We are not sure what happened but we will come back next year.
Went to Casa de Angelo for dinner last night. It was my husband's birthday and he picked the place. We were excited about the menu and the reviews that the restaurant received, but we were sadly disappointed. The martini's were wonderful, the fried calamari and zucchini were bland. I ordered the Lasagnette Angelo and I was very excited for lasagna with bechamel and bolognese sauce. Very disappointed, no flavor, and the lasagna noodles were so soft and mushy. We also ordered the Linguinie Positano, it had a little more flavor but not much. For the money, not worth the flavor that you get.
We will not be going back.
Dinner was for out of town pre -meeting/next day business meeting. Eduardo, our waiter was attentive but not intrusive, excellent service, meals were excellent, evening was a perfect pre-meeting ice breaker since the out of town guests/clients had never met us except by phone prior to evening at CDA.
Thank you to years of excellence from CDA.
Can’t wait to go back and enjoy more of the menu offerings. Appreciated one of the appetizer daily specials, the zucchini flowers. Haven’t had them in years, and they were delicious. My seafood pasta, another special, was another example of delicate while full, flavored. A lobster tail cooked to perfect doneness, worthy of standing alone joined jumbo shrimp and small, clams in a light but not creamy tomato, sauce with just a touch of fra Diavlo.
Only 3 tables in this room, and it’s kind of “the end of the road” for seating, but service remained prompt and timely. All service staff, from greeters,Matr’di, wait staff, bus boy, were pleasant and efficient, helpful but not a touch of supercilious. Very narrow passage space between tables and found it fascinating to watch service staff move quickly without collision. Almost a sense of choreography. Desserts, plated atrequest, for sharing, were delicious In subtle complexity flavor and beautifully presented.. All in all, a great dining experience. Upscale dining with service free from being overbearing.
We decided to give Casa D'Angelo another try, we ate there a year ago. The food was fair, not great, one waitperson thought that speaking in a loud squeaky voice to 2 regulars, for approx. an hour, was completely acceptable, it was not it was annoying and unprofessional. The prices are higher this year and most certainly the value is not there, $48 for hard pasta, one lobster tail, 1 shrimp, 4 small clams and a 2X2 over cooked piece of salmon in a tomato sauce is and was ridiculous. There are so many better restaurants in Fort Lauderdale worth eating at before trying Casa D'Angelo.
Beautiful Aba was our waitperson. She is charming and knowledgeable, professional and fun!! We drank wine and ate an artichoke appetizer, followed by homemade spinach ravioli and white fish and clams. Our desserts were plated together, complete with a Happy Anniversary sign written on a piece of white chocolate!! The cheesecake and the apple tart with Cinnamon ice cream are both fabulous! Cannot wait to come back! Thank you for a wonderful 40th wedding anniversary dinner!! Cheers to Aba!!
Once again an outstanding dining experience! Thank you so much for taking such good care of us. We love the quality of the ingredients you use to make our special dishes and your service is second to none. Special thanks to our server Aba and Karl is always the best. Thanks Holly and Larry for making it feel like home to us. See you soon!
Our family of 4 spent Christmas Dinner at this fabulous restaurant. It was decked out in Christmas lights and decorations creating a very festive atmosphere. But the food was the real standout. Best calamari ever. Fantastic prosciutto and cheese appetizer and four outstanding entrees including the pasta with vodka sauce, linguine and shrimp, lasagna and pasta with veal. Amazing chocolate molten cake dessert. We got seated A little later than our reservation time of 8:15 PM. This place is quite big and was packed! It was One of our favorite dinners during our vacation to Fort Lauderdale with our two teenagers and we could not have gotten better food. We love Italian food and this would rate up there with the best! We absolutely would visit this restaurant again on a future trip to Fort Lauderdale! Highly recommend it.
I am a very lucky man. Date night with my wife can erase any restaurants short comings. We will never come back.
This place is so full of itself; it is a parody of B grade pasta joints on Mott Street in the 80's. It cracks me up: that this place is held in such high regard. Clearly, people don't go out for the food or service. This crowd wants to be seen paying for it. And pay they do!
I wanted a wow worthy restaurant. I got that. Wow, what a rip-off... they have specials, yes. But, you are made to feel like a peasant for having to ask for prices. You see, taking the prices out and thumbing through the folded pages takes time. Being told that your $70 wine is being searched for by the Sommelier. You see it can be in any one of thier many storage places. To which the Sommelier just randomly happens to be walking by. (No lie)... "so we are out of NV Ca D'Basco..?" To which the Sommelier looks back like a deer in headlights....Huh? ... "oh, yes."
Next option: $105. True story.
How can a gorgonzola cream pasta be bland?!
One of our apps comes out with a chip missing off a corner. In case you missed the missing corner there was a drip drop of sauce right next to it. Just to bring your eye to the missing edge. I actually took a picture of it a politely showed it to the Chef at the pass. If i could photograph the lack of flavor...
One would expect to pay for pasta and white truffles. You had to ask for the price. Out came the pieces of paper, again. And for $44 the app portion was insipid and bland.
My steak was well cooked. And we loved the mushrooms. We had them on the side. They took the desserts off the check as an apology for the chipped plate.
We also tipped at least 20%. Cash. Why, you may ask? I work tables for a living. In a place like this: no way that server would ever get to keep the whole tip. Just saying. . . And up selling is not a crime. The theater is enjoyable.
I would not have written any review, had you not solicited one from me. Cheers.
This was an amazing experience. The food was incredible and we will be back. The service was so detailed and very attentive. Out waitress was Aba and she was delightful. She was able to explain every special and made recommendations. Very knowledgeable on the wines and helpful with cocktail selections. Our evening was special with great food and service❤️
Always a favorite place to dine with family, friends and business associates. Brought a few business associates here for dinner and they thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. Two seafood and pasta dishes and one sea bass. I had salmon. All were prepared perfectly and service was friendly and enjoyable. DELICIOUS!
