Carvers Steaks & Chops Ratings and Reviews
Wonderfully old fashioned with quiet atmosphere. Food was better than other similar restaurants in the area. Service was good but server forgot to bring plain butter. They seem to think adding honey makes it better but forget it tastes pretty funny in a baked potato and they don't warn you ahead of time. Kept my water filled 5 times.
I loved the Romaine salad. It was delicious, and nice bite size pieces. The Tournedoes Oscar was very good. I had the potatoes au gratin, and really enjoyed them. The flavor was excellent. The dessert I had, was the apple cinnamon bread pudding. Excellent! The servers were very attentive, and it was a nice birthday dinner.
Everything was great. The only negatives were that there was a very noisy table with a baby and a screaming toddler. Also, this restaurant could really use a lot of updating with the decor. It's stuck in the early 1980s with dated paint colors, chipped time, worn out carpeting, etc. But everything else was fantastic. Our guests really enjoyed their food as well.
Carvers has the best Prime Rib and Baby Back Ribs in the entire area. The reason we like Carvers is that the food is great. Why don't you list "excellent cuisine" as one of the categories in your list of the things that would cause us to recommend this fine restaurant? That is a serious omission on your part, Open Table!
Outside is fine, inside strong smell of carpet cleanser.
We asked for medium rare NY Strips, all 3 were Medium at minimum.
Anyway steaks were tasty. Bread and baked potatoe were fine. As was the Hahn Caberet Sauvignon.
Overall too uotdated, think it needs refurbishment in Q3 2017.
My wife said that the "Early Bird" filet mignon was very tough and dry. She ordered medium rare. She says the salad and side dish were fine. I ate an excellent steak and delicious sides, and I enjoyed the French Onion Soup. That is why I gave a middle score for food. Hers was bad; mine was great.
Wife and I wanted something special for our anniversary, so, like we've done for each others birthday, we chose Carvers. Excellent, friendly staff, great food and wine, and a very comfortable seating arrangement. Over the past few years, we found we liked a particular table. Unfortunately, when we arrived, it was occupied. But, after about 15 minutes, the people left and we asked and got the ok to move to it. Good start to the evening. The meal was great. I tried the porterhouse and my wife selected the filet. Each came with baked potato with all the trimmings. Aside from a couple strands of ??, my steak was very tasty and large enough to take home for lunch the following day. To top the evening off, we had the Mississippi Mud Pie to share. It too was top notch.
We will undoubtedly be returning for future occasions. Highly recommended.
The service was terrible. Everything was rushed. We just sat down and they were bugging us for drink order before we had a chance to look at either menu. We hadn't finished the salad course when the servers were placing our entrees on the table without removing the salad course. We had made the reservation weeks in advance an had to have been given the worst table in the place in the path of the severs going in and out of the kitchen. The noise level was not conducive to conversation. As this was our second time there I expected much better food as before. My filet was totally over cooked on one side and what they served as béarnaise sauce bared no resemblance to the real thing.
We dine here a few times a year. The most recent occasion we decided to try the $15 Tuesday special dinner. It was as described, served hot and reasonably tasty. Portions were small but ok for older folks. In the future we will order from the regular menu and get something special. They have great meat entrees. Service was excellent and the wait staff friendly and helpful.
Overall advice: If you got to Carvers go for the regular menu.
We were kind of indecisive with the appetizer. Instead of trying to help us by suggesting something, the server decided to just leave us. Awkward! Then he finally returns and takes our order. Although we loved the food, the server was very unpersonable and not very friendly. We also thought it was kind of rude to be sweeping the crumbs off our table while we're still seating there. We felt like we were being rushed with our food. Loved the food but will not be coming back for the service especially when it was a 40mins drive for us.
Food was great, the waitress was amazing - We had a bit of a mix up with the food and the waitress was very quick to correct everything(Ordered an item gluten free, was not served that way). The only reason for the stars on the ambiance was the fact that I was seated at a booth that was facing the sunset through their open windows. They don't have anything to block the sun so I was blind for a while, but since I was there with my girlfriend I just sat on the same side of the booth as her. For those who don't have that option, it's not a good time.
