Carver's Steak House - Executive Airport Plaza Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We've been coming here for our wedding anniversary for a few years now and have never been disappointed in the experience. The beef cooked to perfection, the salads were great and the chocolate desert just plain sinful. We'll do this again. And again, and not just for our anniversary.
We arrived in time for pur reservation and as they were offering a Groupon it was busy, so we had to wait a bit. When we were seated, the menu was placed in front of us and after 5 minutes we asked about a wine menu and this was provided. Our order was taken including our wine. After 30 minutes we asked if we could have pur wine. The wine was not as cold as we prefer a Pinot Gris so we asked for a wine cooler. Presentation of the food was average, the steaks were prepared nicely. There was nothing remarkable about the flavours, and the “oscar” sauce looked a bit grey. When we were leaving we asked to take our wine with us and we were denied, so we left half a bottle of $50 wine on the table. Not impressed at all. We realize they were busy but they had reservations and should have brought in more staff
Food was vary good but due to wedding service elsewhere we waited a long time before anybody brought menus and our 1st dish was served at hour and ten minutes after our being seated. The maitre d' did bring us our drinks a little before that. Staff were all excellent, warm and doing the very best that they could do as we did not complain but the kitchen was terribly slow due to a wedding elsewhere in the building. We enjoyed the food and the staff, however because of them we did not complain.
Our server was excellent - Senka made great suggestions (best menu picks for our Groupon) and was very personable. Food was great - portions large (2 big crab cakes as an appie!) tasted great (steaks cooked perfectly) and reasonably price (even without the Groupon). We will definitely come back here over the over-priced chain steak house! Very good hotel restaurant that loves locals 😊
Loved the filet mignon. Ordered Scallop and Prawn, Baked Oysters, Chowder, sauteed mushroom, turtle motlen chocolate cake.
It looks like they're understaffed, and service was a bit slow. We didn't have a good seat (and I assume it's because we were groupon customers?) The night would have been a lot more enjoyable if we were seated at the booth.
Definitely the star of the meal were the steaks. I had the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the New York and it was wonderful. I would've given full marks on the food except I found the appetizer rather salty (I had the spinach dip) but it was of substantial portions. I was rather full after finishing that. But the steak was so delicious that I just had to finish that too. We are coming back with the kids on a Friday for the prime rib special. Looking forward to another meal with meat perfection.
Having a nice restaurant in once's neighborhood is Great. So it is a plus for Carver's. The choices for Appetizers were plenty. We Ordered Prawn Martini ( Prawns are big and fresh but too anemic), Pan Seared Scallops and Prawns ( Great), Dungenese & Spinach Dip ( Serving is Big. Almost a complete meal) and Escargot ( Taste Good)! The presentation was OK but Carver can make it more appealing! For the mains , we have C. A. B Fillet Mignon and Oscar Alberta's Top Sirlon. The cut was nice, thick and moist cooked as requested, pinkish red inside. But we have the same sides for for both and almost look the same. Change the Sides that comes with the menu, please. The Dessert was great but presentation was mediocre. The Service was a little slow as we only saw 2 servers. Will we come back again? Maybe in 6 month's time.
Below expectation. First, the waitress forgot to give us bread (he was busy serving other table that order wine). When I finally got the bread, they are small end pieces (not the middle pieces) also taste like left over from lunch time. The table next to me got better bread (middle cut.) For the main courses, I order medium rare NY steak. It was over cooked not not juice at all. My friend ordered medium rare prime rib, 10oz. There are 2 pieces. The bigger piece is good while the smaller piece is over cooked and dry. I think the restaurant sold out of prime rib so they just find several small pieces so they added up to 10oz.
P.S. There were only 2 waitress in the restaurant.
Loved our experience, lovely setting, spacious, very comfortable for couples, groups, families or dining solo. Excellent customer service, they really want you to enjoy your experience. Food was made with love and thought, tasted devine , plated beautifully, dishes/plates are very unique to look at. Classy restaurant. Great menu selection. We loved all our choices, dungeness crab spinach dip, champagne baked oysters, 10 Oz ribeye, 10 Oz filet mignon, duo creme brulee, trio cheesecakes sampler. We will be back for sure.
I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary on a Friday at 5:30pm. There were only two parties apart from us who were there. For our appetizers, she had seared scallops with prawns and quinoa, and I had the escargot with mushrooms. Both were so succulent and well prepared. For dinner, she had the surf and turf meal which came with albacore tuna and sirloin steak. I had the filet mignon with scalloped potatoes and seasoned veggies. I must say, they have the word "steakhouse" in their name for a reason. We shared the cheesecake sampler for dessert. Three flavours: Lemon, banana/chocolate and caramel. The dish came with a strawberry drizzle and was well presented. In fact, all of the dishes were presented well. I would definitely recommend going there for a date night.
We had a dinner for three at Carver's and all of us ordered steak. It was prepared exactly as we requested. One of the diners had some dietary restrictions that were accommodated without any issues. We especially enjoyed the steak bite appetizer - just enough spice to make it interesting without overwhelming the food.
We were somewhat disappointed with the food we had when we were there. It was a grade down from what we experienced when we dined there during Christmas last year and before that. The sirloin steak I had was on the tough side and the chicken cutlet my wife had was definitely on the dry side. We had expected better prepared meat dishes from your restaurant who suppose to be well known for its steak dishes. A positive is that the service level was excellent as usual. Wondered what the restaurant's response would have been if we had complained???
Excellent service and great food. Have been to Carvers many times and never disappointed. Michael provides personalized service along with his staff. One my favorite restaurants in Richmond. They can accommodate gluten and shellfish allergies. We plan on continuing to visit Carvers!
I don't know if it was Valentines Day that caused the problems. Service left much to be desired. It took 30 minutes to get bread. I ordered fish with Coucous and requested a change to mashed potatoes. Waitress said she would try but she apparently did not. My wife's steak was overdone and hard. The people at the next table were really upset.
The upside to the evening was the Manager (Owner?) was really nice and very apologetic. He reduced 20% from the final Bill, although WE did not ask or complain. I think he surmised thing were not right that evening.
Since He was so polite and kind it was difficult to be annoyed.
My friends and I went on Friday because it was the last week of Dine out Vancouver 2017.
This year, I felt a bit disappointed about the food because the steak was overcooked a bit and the taste was just fine. I went to this steakhouse so many times including Dine out Vancouver in 2016 and the food quilty has been quite good expect this time.
the steak was tough, had wanted med/rare. it was more like well done. no-one got the meals given to the correct time, on all 3 courses. waitress kept coming back and annoying us in the middle of our conversations asking if we needed "assistance". once or twice would have been alright, but it was far overdone. we were visiting with friends we rarely see and wanted to enjoy each others company. the main meal was skimpy, and not very hot either. we definately will not go back again or recommend anyone there. the name carvers implied it would be a good steak house to go to.
