Carver's Steak House - Executive Airport Plaza Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We visited this place for Dine Out Vancouver. The selections were great for $40. We were seated early, given our glass of water but took awhile for someone to get our order or give us any attention. Luckily, one of the servers gave us some yummy bread with balsamic/ olive oil. We were starving!
The food came to us at a decent time! The restaurant was quite busy during this time and they may have been under staffed. One of the servers fell in the back kitchen due to water spill! Hopefully she was okay!
Overall, between two people we spent $112 with 2 dine out menus, 1 glass of wine, liquor and 2 coffee .
2nd table in the whole restaurant, was not busy at all. We had the prime rib and was extremely disappointed, ordered med rare and came out blue rare and in 2 slices and when requested another it was put on the grill and given back to me. We were the 1st customers for the prime rib and it was bad. My son had a steak and it was cooked good. The service was excellent and she was really nice and apologetic for the food. This was my 1st time there and my wife and family had been there before and the food was excellent when they last went so I was really looking forward for the prime rib. I was an executive chef for almost 10 years and whenever we did prime rib it never turned out like that. I mean come on 2 slices, if I wanted a beef dip I would go get one. And the vegtables or should I say lack of vegtables. There was 1 pc of asparagus, 1 slice of yellow squash, and 1 slice of zucchini. Portion control needs to be looked at for sure. My wife was extremely embarassed because her last visit 3 months prior she raved about.
Christmas dinner! ...this was the worst dinner we have ever had...very disappointing...The so called turkey, was anything but...little round circles of meat entirely surrounded with grissle..would like to know what part of the turkey this came from. did not complain because too many people there.. did not want to make a scene. Soup salad and dessert were great
We made a reservation and were surprised to find that it was closed for a "private function". After a brief discussion, we were seated by the door.
The overall ambience was generally poor since the diners were very noisy and speaking loudly in a foreign language. There were a number of children whose parents chose not to supervise them and allowed them to run amok. A number of babies were crying with the parents unwilling or unable to comfort them or remove them from the restaurant.
We ordered our dinner and 8:00 pm and after checking several times the food arrived ...somewhat cold ...at 9:30 pm. The Manager provide a bottle of wine to compensate for the tardiness. In general, the kitchen staff seemed overwhelmed by the number of guests.
Overall experience 3/5.
We were attending a play at Gateway Theatre, when we advised the staff they ensured that our meal was timely to leave for the event. I am a volunteer at Gateway and often am asked by patrons for a place to eat prior to a play. I will definitely advise Carver's! Used to recommend the Mad Greek, however that is closed now. A big plus was that you permit free parking when dinning and going to Gateway.
Ordered the Christmas package meal. Had the turkey dinner and salmon fish. Small portion of 4 pieces of turkey with small amount of stuffing, vege and mesh potatoes, gravy was minimal thus food was quite dry. Salmon was over done, dried and hard, again cannot taste the citrus sauce as mentioned on menu. Desserts was overall quite disappointing, cheese cakes and chocolate mousse, taste like frozen supermarket purchased. Service was overall okay, bill was presented at 9.30pm without asking for it, staff was busy getting to call it day. As it is a Steak house I supposed the steak may be better as compared to other food.
Bought a Groupon, waited 45 minutes for appies, food were all cold when it came, 15% auto gratuity was added for lack of service. Never came to check on our table; very unprofessional, cleared my girlfriend's plate when I was still eating. One of the worst dining experience ever.
We've been coming here for our wedding anniversary for a few years now and have never been disappointed in the experience. The beef cooked to perfection, the salads were great and the chocolate desert just plain sinful. We'll do this again. And again, and not just for our anniversary.
We arrived in time for pur reservation and as they were offering a Groupon it was busy, so we had to wait a bit. When we were seated, the menu was placed in front of us and after 5 minutes we asked about a wine menu and this was provided. Our order was taken including our wine. After 30 minutes we asked if we could have pur wine. The wine was not as cold as we prefer a Pinot Gris so we asked for a wine cooler. Presentation of the food was average, the steaks were prepared nicely. There was nothing remarkable about the flavours, and the “oscar” sauce looked a bit grey. When we were leaving we asked to take our wine with us and we were denied, so we left half a bottle of $50 wine on the table. Not impressed at all. We realize they were busy but they had reservations and should have brought in more staff
Food was vary good but due to wedding service elsewhere we waited a long time before anybody brought menus and our 1st dish was served at hour and ten minutes after our being seated. The maitre d' did bring us our drinks a little before that. Staff were all excellent, warm and doing the very best that they could do as we did not complain but the kitchen was terribly slow due to a wedding elsewhere in the building. We enjoyed the food and the staff, however because of them we did not complain.
Our server was excellent - Senka made great suggestions (best menu picks for our Groupon) and was very personable. Food was great - portions large (2 big crab cakes as an appie!) tasted great (steaks cooked perfectly) and reasonably price (even without the Groupon). We will definitely come back here over the over-priced chain steak house! Very good hotel restaurant that loves locals 😊
Loved the filet mignon. Ordered Scallop and Prawn, Baked Oysters, Chowder, sauteed mushroom, turtle motlen chocolate cake.
It looks like they're understaffed, and service was a bit slow. We didn't have a good seat (and I assume it's because we were groupon customers?) The night would have been a lot more enjoyable if we were seated at the booth.
Definitely the star of the meal were the steaks. I had the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the New York and it was wonderful. I would've given full marks on the food except I found the appetizer rather salty (I had the spinach dip) but it was of substantial portions. I was rather full after finishing that. But the steak was so delicious that I just had to finish that too. We are coming back with the kids on a Friday for the prime rib special. Looking forward to another meal with meat perfection.
Having a nice restaurant in once's neighborhood is Great. So it is a plus for Carver's. The choices for Appetizers were plenty. We Ordered Prawn Martini ( Prawns are big and fresh but too anemic), Pan Seared Scallops and Prawns ( Great), Dungenese & Spinach Dip ( Serving is Big. Almost a complete meal) and Escargot ( Taste Good)! The presentation was OK but Carver can make it more appealing! For the mains , we have C. A. B Fillet Mignon and Oscar Alberta's Top Sirlon. The cut was nice, thick and moist cooked as requested, pinkish red inside. But we have the same sides for for both and almost look the same. Change the Sides that comes with the menu, please. The Dessert was great but presentation was mediocre. The Service was a little slow as we only saw 2 servers. Will we come back again? Maybe in 6 month's time.
Below expectation. First, the waitress forgot to give us bread (he was busy serving other table that order wine). When I finally got the bread, they are small end pieces (not the middle pieces) also taste like left over from lunch time. The table next to me got better bread (middle cut.) For the main courses, I order medium rare NY steak. It was over cooked not not juice at all. My friend ordered medium rare prime rib, 10oz. There are 2 pieces. The bigger piece is good while the smaller piece is over cooked and dry. I think the restaurant sold out of prime rib so they just find several small pieces so they added up to 10oz.
P.S. There were only 2 waitress in the restaurant.
