Carson's Prime Steaks & Famous Barbecue - Deerfield Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Carson's for a pre- theater dinner many times...
This was the first that a few girls ordered Salads.. and when the bill came there was a $3 up charge.. It was told to us that the ala crate prices are not listed.. BUT ALSO NOT TOLD TO US...
They did rectify this but it was annoying .. Ala Carte should always be listed.
We haven’t been here in a while, due to the ribs were not so good last time. But this time the ribs were delicious and all the side dishes were very good too. The wait staff was very good and helpful. We all enjoyed dinning here, we celebrated a couple of birthdays and they were very generous to us..definitely will return in the near future...
Best ribs and everything else is great too. Overall a very nice meal to celebrate my wifes and moms birthday. Ribs were great. Emma was a very nice waitress as well.
Also my family loves the cornbread it is a must get. The Mediterranean shrimp are also delicious.
Keep up the great food.
Frist time here for dinner in years. I usually go for lunch but this time took the family for dinner. It did not disappoint. Food was very good overall. Ribs of course are great and a half slab is enough. My wife had the Greek chicken which is fantastic. Cole Slaw is the best around. I will also say that each meal was under $20 dollars and it came with cole slaw and choice of potato. Overall a fair price for much higher quality food than other places around. We were 6 so they take reservations which is why we went.
FOOD WAS GOOD BUT SERVICE WAS POOR. CARSON'S ADDED A 20%
TIP TO THE BILL. DID NOT GIVE THE SERVER ANY REASON TO GIVE GOOD
SERVICE. OPEN TABLE SHOULD ADVISE THAT AN ESTABLISHMENT IS
GOING TO ADD AN AUTOMATIC TIP WHEN YOU MAKE RESERVATIONS
FOR A LARGER PARTY (OURS WAS 6).
Have been a fan of Carson's Ribs since they opened in the 70s. It's on the "must-do" list whenever we visit Chicago. And don't be fooled by the name Carson's Ribs. While they do have the best baby back ribs in our solar system, all other menu items are over-the-top outstanding. As an example, Carson's burger may be the very best burger also in our solar system. Pork Chop - excellent. Salmon - Outstanding. Everything is great and it keeps my coming back.
I've been going to Carsons for at least the last 10 years, and it's really slipped from what it once was. It's not a cheap date, so expectations should be high. Ribs were not very meaty, chicken was dry and over-sauced, twice-baked and Greek potatos were dry as well.
In addition, our party of 7 was forced to sit right by the door. The staff told us that was the only place a party as large as ours could sit. We told them that on previous visits, our party has been seated in the other dining rooms, but they refused.
The vibe I got was that they're fading, and just phoning it in now. It used to be our favorite local place for barbecue, but we won't be back. Too many other new places to try!
Carson's still has some of the best barbecue ribs, chicken and pork chops in the Chicago area. It is worth a drive to Deerfield to experience. Very attentive and friendly wait staff, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and drinks. Recommended.
My children had all special occasions (birthdays, graduations, parents meeting new boyfriends, etc. when younger. One daughter was in from Arizona on visit, so other sister with her children wanted to repeat old time favorite with next generation. Now our spot to go was Skokie, but since Skokie location no longer available, Deerfield was next best. Glad to see chopped liver still at door. Should have picked up a pint for at home. Great new memories with grandkids and great old ones with last generation.
We had a reservation because we had a party of six. Some tables were empty, but we were told we had to wait for the table to be set up. We were finally seated and then waited 12 minutes before a waitress came to our table and we had not been given menus. The food arrived luke warm at best. It had probably been sitting several minutes before it was brought to the table. The waitress did not return to refill drinks or to refill wine glasses. We will never return to this restaurant.
All 6 in my party enjoyed great service and delicious food! Everyone loved their dinner - even 3 year old Ari - loved the chicken, ribs and steak. One of us had french onion soup - he said it was great! Will be back again! Live in AZ but come to Chicago a few times a year.
We took a group of six to celebrate a graduation and it felt so celebratory. From the friendly hosts, to the chopped liver while we waited for our table and then of course the delicious ribs, potatoes and more! The wait staff made us feel special and we enjoyed every bite.
