Fun gathering for friends. Our server was pleasant, but our meal was slow to come. We all had the chopped salad which was very good. No complaints, but with a bit of effort, this place could be outstanding.
Reservation for 7 including 3 school age children. Kids menu was good and affordable. Adults enjoyed salads and Turkey Burgers. Best turkey burger I've had in a long time.
This place is an old standby for us. We always know the food a service will be good
Cocktails were great. One of the best strawberry basil cocktails I have had anywhere. Our salads and dessert really hit the spot. The main course was surprisingly underwhelming and below par; not worth writing home about. The sauce and shrimp in the shrimp and grits were delicious but the grits itself were coarse and tough. The pecan encrusted chicken though quite well cooked and perfectly tender inside lacked the right amount of flavor as the mustard sauce felt like a ‘lite’ version of what it could be. I would pass on the accompanying bread as well. The service was a highlight. Our server was very attentive and pleasant brightening the experience. Now if they could just fix the entrees and the bread, we might have a winner.
The quality and experience at Carson's has deteriorated over the past year or so (last time I ate there). From the greeting at the door, which was unorganized and unprofessional, to the wait staff, who could not track a simple request for a substitution, to the kitchen, which was apparently woefully understaffed since the wait for our order was excessive--and poorly prepared two of the three entrees (overcooked, dry, too much salt), my experience was very disappointing. I will not likely eat here again.
Not a good value at all
Good food and nice atmosphere would recommend to others
As always a great dinner from Carsons. We are Catholic and it's Lent so we are avoiding meat. Wife enjoyed her fish dinner. Son and I had fish and chips. Service was great.
Great food and service. We were down visiting U of M for Campus Day with our youngest son who was accepted for fall 2018.
A nice neighborhood restaurant for our NE Ann Arbor area. In the summer they have a nice patio (but limited seating).
Food was wonderful, and our server, Stephanie was most pleasant & fun!
Parking was easy. We were seated immediately (at our reserved time). Service was prompt and server was attentive. House salad was fresh and large. The Fillet Mignon with Cabernet Demi-glace was very good. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the vegetables were fresh/crisp. Almost forgot, ask for bread sticks! Floor is mostly open with some booths available. The dining room isn't noisy, music could be heard and conversation wasn't difficult.
This is a fabulous restaurant convenient to UM North Campus. Lots of fish options and vegetarian appetizers. 1/2 price bottles of wine on Saturday night was a nice surprise! Our server, Brandon, was terrific! Will highly recommend to people visiting Ann Arbor.
Great food , amazing service and good price , nice wine selection
One of our favorite spots for birthday celebrations
Awesome, well prepared food at an excellent price! Right near our hotel! I came in not expecting much and we were blown away. The Brussels sprouts were amazing, the spinach artichoke dip was some of the best I’d ever tasted, my salmon was cooked to perfection, salads were crisp and fresh and lightly dressed. My son’s lobster Mac and cheese was excellent. Our waiter was as prompt and entertaining. The fireplace was a nice plus. The carrot cake was a bit overdone in terms of heavy sugary icing and syrup as well as a side of ice cream, but on the whole this was an excellent, well-prepared, comfort food on a cold winter’s night meal.
Excellent food and service. A bit long to receive our brunch items. Wonderful choice of tasty breakfast..something for everyone! Incredible tasting extra thick bacon!
Very slow service and not very good food. My chopped salad had the driest salmon I have ever had and the whole salad just didn’t taste fresh.
We we visited Carsons because some friends of ours told us they had recently gone and the prime rib was excellent.
I was very disappointed. I’ve got a very thin slice of prime rib that was tough. It was 50% fat that had to be cut off because it was inedible.
Our server was nice, but a little scattered and he gave us incorrect information about substituting items.
For the amount of money we spent I would have enjoyed a better dining experience.
Had a reservation for 6 people for 7:15. Waited an hour while others were seated. Was repeatedly told “just a few more minutes”. Still liked the food but felt management could have done more to find a table or don’t accept the reservation!
Carsons is usually one of my go to restaurants. I made the mistake of going during restaurant week and it was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had there. There were two entrées available for restaurant week, salmon and prime rib. I was excited about the prime rib and that’s why I made the reservation. We had an early dinner, 6:15, and they were out of the prime rib with no alternatives offered. The service was its usual, which is excellent. It’s not the wait staff fault that they ran out of one of their specials so early. It was just extremely bad planning by management.
Asked for a seat away from windows, because it is chilly there in January. Got the table next to the fireplace and it was wonderful. Service and food were great. Value of restaurant week plus birthday discount was outstanding.
Prime Rib was excellent! Victor at Bar provided great service
Corn chowder was Luke warm. Same thing happened two weeks ago when I ordered the corn chowder. Delicious soup but you need to heat properly.
My family and I enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and kind. The restaurant was comfortable and not too loud. We all said that we will go back again.
Good food, good service good prices. Best corn chowder I’ve had. Will be back.
We were guest and we all ordered hamburgers. They were ordered medium and theycame rare. The cheese was cold and so were the sautéd onions. The food was very disappointing. As we were guest we did not complain to the manager. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Great service and food. Very enjoyable evening even though we didn't have a lot of time to relax, our server was prompt and very efficient. Never felt rushed yet we needed to be out in 75 minutes. Great experience for a group of 8 on a Saturday night. We were seated the moment we arrived with our 6:00 reservation. Half price bottles of wine on a Saturday evening was also a great and pleasant surprise!
We had a great time at Carson's. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. It was New Year's Eve and I thought even though we had a reservation we would have to wait. We got seated immediately to my surprise. It was a very nice experience.
The four of us all very much enjoyed our entrees, although my pork tenderloin was missing the maple-bourbon chili sauce listed in the description and shown in the menu photo. The lower score was due to the inattentive service. We consistently had to get our waiter's attention to get him to visit our table when we wanted to order or needed something, starting right at the beginning to order beverages and an appetizer. Our dinner for 4 ended up taking 3 hours, mostly our waiter but it seemed the kitchen was also slow also. Worth a try again for the food but hope the service is better.
My wife and I went to Carson's for New Years Eve. I requested a quieter area as my only personal choice and it was fulfilled. We were pleased with the atmosphere, the selections of wine, the menu and the attention from the staff. I prefer non-intrusive staff but helpful with questions and knowledge of all facets of what is offered. Our waitress met all requirements. Our food was well prepared and proved very pleasing to the palate. Portions were priced fairly.
The negative side; I ordered Vodka and Tonic. I believe the Tonic was a poor quality Tonic that influenced the taste. It tasted similar to soda's served at a bar or hall where they use a button for various selections, more like a 3 dollar vodka and tonic ( the price of this was more than double). Although Carson's can't control the weather outside, we found the inside to be chilly and uncomfortable. Admittedly we were seated window side and could feel the cold from where we sat and we did request a quieter location. It was old enough jackets would not have been out of the question for any diner seated alongside a window. There is a seat for 2 right by a glassed in fireplace that would be a good choice but may be difficult to secure without requesting when making a reservation. We will know better next time, and yes we plan to go again to try other menu options (excluding the Vodka and Tonic).
We have been here many times before. The filet was so tender we could cut it with a knife. Best meal yet!!!
We have been going here regularly over the last five years and this was a holiday meal with out of town family. We were beyond disappointed. Drinks were slow to arrive, as was the food. The prime rib was cold, equal portions meat and fat, and a difficult to cut and chew. My wife's whitefish, a dish she has enjoyed there regularly in the past, was also cold and her salad was limp. When the waiter asked the perfunctory question of "how is everything," I said my meat was cold but he seemed not to hear me. Among the five of us, only one person felt his meal (the pot roast) was enjoyable. When it was all said and done we paid around $200 for a meal that was just flat out bad. Despite the fact that it is convenient, I'm not sure we will be back any time soon.
We had a lovely dinner on Sunday! This is our third time at Carson's and we will return again.
Service is always top notch!
I wish that we got served more water, we asked like three times and got it once...it would have been nice if the waiter smiled more
This is one of my favorite restaurants to meet friends at. Great appetizers and signature cocktails. Classy, festive atmosphere yet very warm and friendly. The service has always been wonderful whenever I go.
Great Sunday brunch! Bacon and cheese omelette with hash browns and pancakes on the side!
Very thoughtful and respectful wait staff. Food was delicious and medium done rib was in fact medium! It was relatively quiet and pleasant lighting. Definitely a good place to enjoy 50% off on your birthday!
