Carr, who is a proud Lancaster County native, offers a menu which is simple, direct, yet fine-edged, with respect for local suppliers of fresh meats, vegetables, fruit and fowl. A local favorite is chicken and waffles (local organic chicken confit/ cultured buttermilk/ seasonal vegetables). And how satisfying it is to go to a new restaurant and find something for everyone! Our offerings are best described as an eclectic combination of flavorful dishes, with regional tastes still dictating slight variations.
Busy, one server, everything went well
Food was less then par. My husbands steak was served rare when it was ordered medium rare, only to be brought back well done. My filet was ordered medium rare only to be brought out well done.. Very disappointed..
We dine at Carr‘s for every special occasion on the calendar year and sometimes more often than that. We love the restaurant, the ambience, and the food.
Great meal and drinks, fantastic location next to central market!
We love Carrs restaurant. The food, drinks and ambiance are just perfect! The service is always with a smile.. We enjoy a seat on the street side with a window view. But occasionally we get a table in the lower level which is nice but a little quiet for our liking.
We've never had a bad meal and my favorite dessert is the chocolate creme brûlée.
Even though it's a little pricey we will continue to come back to a wonderful restaurant.
Carr's consistently delivers first class food and service. Recently had a nice dinner before the theater.
We love the Sunday brunch offerings, too. The best service in Lancaster!
Apparently there's a new chef according to our server. Well, they are killing it! The food was outstanding. Great flavors and preparations on the scallops with crab and the ahi special. Also notable for the bar, the sour cherry old fashioned was the best I've EVER had. Even my wife liked it and she doesn't like whiskey at all. A great meal from start to finish.
Carr's was a nice restaurent. The service was good and very prompt, but could almost be rushed. We enjoyed our evening and would recommend giving it a try, but would probably not go a second time.
as usual everything was great, hostess, server, ambience and of course the food
Dined here twice within a week. Excellent food. Eclectic menu. Service very good.
Very enjoyable time with good friends. Did not at all feel rushed. Even though it was First Friday.
Good food and quality device. Very opened so it was noisy. Nice renovation of the space. Convenient location.
Always a great meal, first time trying The Wild Mushroom Ravioli and they were delicious, the tips added were like butter. My wife went with her favorite meal in Lancaster, Medallion of Tenderloin. Server was very attentive and the libations were very tasty.
Brought our family for a birthday celebration!
Our waiter was great but the experience was not as
Good as we had previously remembered. The birthday person wanted a Chardonnay to drink and there were only two choices....first choice was bad 2nd choice was just ok.
The food was ok but there were no specials and no bread for the table. Will most likely not return.
Good food and excellent service. Quiet; the way I like it.
When we first arrived (7pm), the noise level was intrusive and I was concerned that we wouldn't be able to have an enjoyable conversation with our friends who were meeting us there. Gradually, as the restaurant patrons left and the crowd thinned, conversation became easier.
My friend and I ordered the mushroom-stuffed ravioli, which we both thought was delicious! My husband said he enjoyed the swordfish but thought the portion (a rectangular cut out of a steak?) was small.
Our waiter, Crislyn (spelling?) was excellent!!! She definitely added to our dining experience. She was vivacious, personable, knowledgeable, and efficient!
We understand (from Crislyn) that the restaurant is changing ownership, and we would definitely try it again sometime.
This was our first time to Carr's and I must say that I enjoyed it very much. The food was great, the steak cooked to temperature perfectly and very tasty. Had a nice dinner- will be back.
The wild mushroom ravioli was fantastic! I've had the lamb meatballs and scallops in the past as well, everything is top notch.
Food was excellent. Our server was attentive and polite. While the food was excellent, the kitchen was a little slower than it should have been, as there were not many patrons. Overall highly recommended.
Fabulous meal. All four of us ordered different entrees and they were all delicious. Loved the option of 1/2 salad. Peanut butter chocolate dessert was wonderful!
We were seated downstairs. Nice dining room. Server was attentive and busboy fast . Food was good but pricey.
I eat out often. I ordered the homemade mushroom ravioli. I have to say, it was one of the best tasting meals I ever had in a restaurant. Everything, down to the vegetable was cooked perfectly. The portion was small (maybe 3 to 4 raviolis) for the price (22.00). But, we ordered appetizers and salad, so, I didn’t leave hungry. The alcohol is pricey as well. My husband had a steak and it was a larger portion and cooked perfectly. All in all it was a wonderful meal.
We enjoyed our dinner at Carr's. The server was excellent, attentive and very personable. The ambiance was perfect and the room was quiet conducive to having a conversation at our table. We truly enjoyed our dining experience. Thank you.
Excellent service and food! The mushroom ravioli is fantastic- so fresh and springlike!!!
Food was terrific!! But a bit loud so it was difficult to talk.
It was a bit loud and bright for a dinner restaurant and I felt the menu was a little bit limited. We had calamari for an appetizer which was good, although the two dipping sauces were mixed together and I would’ve preferred them separately. We had the chicken corn pie which was very good, and salty (which I like). We then had the crab cakes which were very pricey and sub-par. Would recommend other restaurants around the city before this one
Service was very slow and the wine cellar did not have the listed bottle we wanted. Food was fair at best. My companion had better luck with her salad and pizza.
Very nice experience. Food was excellent.
Great food, perfect spot to eat at before a show at the Fulton. Service was kind of slow and we ended up not having time for desert.
We originally had reservations downstairs for 5:30 following a show. But we arrived early and the upstairs bar was open while downstairs restaurant was not. So we opted for a drink at the bar and service was so good that when the bartender offered us menus we asked her to alert the dining room that we'd be staying upstairs.
We enjoyed wonderful cocktails, delicious small plates, and an over- the- top chocolate creme brulee. Service was terrific! While we were there the upstairs filled up on a Thursday evening and everyone seemed quite pleased with their food and beverages.
It's open ceiling but they have done something to muffle the sound so it doesn't get cacophonous like at other places. Kudos, Carr's!!
The service was outstanding! We loved our appetizers and dessert... the main course was good, yet we are extremely fussy (a chef and wife) so it was good, just not excellent. We would reccomend and try again.
Carr is our go to place for our theater night in Lancaster. We find the service staff very personable and professional. We truly enjoy this restaurant or we wouldn't be repeat customers.
Always treated with great service/food at Carr's. Great place to go prior to a show at the Fulton.
It was great! We would love to go back. Perfect place for us to celebrate our marriage.
Good food at a decent value. Staff was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the ambiance of the downstairs dining room. Would be nice to have more non-meat options during the Lenten season. And a broader wine list is definitely needed.
It was wonderful! The food was delicious! Our waiter, Chris, was affable and knowledgeable about the menu. They were all very accommodating with our request for wheelchair access and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.
Friendly professional service with food that was truly spectacular.
Usually excellent. Really looking forward to the Ancient Grains & Vegetables as I’ve had it before. This time it fell flat. No flavor at all. But I’ll be back as I think this was an exception. Service was very good. Maurice was great! Loved the coziness of downstairs.
Was there for lunch....highly recommend. Everything was fantastic. A little pricey, but worth it!
