Carrol's Creek Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The Caesar salad made table side is the worst caesar salad I have ever had. For 18 dollars I would expect it to be made right. Grey poupon and Worcestershire are not ingredients that belong in the dressing. The wine list is full of cheap wines which might be a plus for most people. The waiter was friendly and personable the appetizers were decent and so was desert. I would go back again but maybe just the lounge next time
We were only in Annapolis for one evening and were torn between several dining options. We chose Carrol’s Creek and are so happy we did. The onion soup was an incredible start to the meal. My partner chose the mussels for his appetizer and raved about them. For dinner, I went with the jumbo crab cakes which did not disappoint. The only mistake I made was not asking for the ground mustard that was liberally spread on the accompanying potatoes and veggies to be served on the side. Our waiter was top-notch. He was knowledgeable about the specials and menu items. He was also very personable. Atmosphere was perfect on a snowy winter night. We felt cozy and comfortable as we enjoyed our delicious dinner.
We drove from Falls Church, VA, to Annapolis as a special treat for a birthday lunch. We were not disappointed! The food was superb, the location was just wonderful with a view of the water, our server, Matthew, was delightful. Well worth the hour plus drive. We will definitely come back!
The restaurant was very crowded (it was a Saturday night), but we were in a smaller room, which mitigated the noise level. The food (and portions) were exceptional. Service was a bit off, but probably due to the volume of diners. It was, in all, a terrific evening. We plan to return soon.
After all the great things I’d heard, we were pretty disappointed. Oyster appetizer was great but coconut cod was truly awful. We were placed next to a party of 20 that was loud and intrusive for a romantic dinner for two. Waitress was nice and attentive. There are too many good places in Annapolis to give this one a second chance.
I have to agree with the other reviews, the food was fantastic at Carrol's Creek Café. I had the Rockfish and it was prepared just right with savory sauces and great presentation. We also had the cream of crab soup and crab dip. All were delicious and the bread warm from the oven.
I have wanted to try this restaurant for a long time and took my Mom for her birthday lunch. We had a perfect table and view. Service was friendly and easy-going. Mom really liked her scallop small plate. I opted for a Greek seafood salad with crabmeat and shrimp. I wasn’t wowed by my choice and think the bland use of iceberg lettuce took away from the flavor. Hot tea selections were not inspiring and flavorless. We were comped a chocolate birthday dessert without any other choices. I’m sure better dishes are to be found here, I just didn’t make the best choice.
Long time patron of Carrols Creek, and food was dependably good. Loved the scallops, they are as good as it gets. My wife’s rockfish was exceptional! One disappointment was the lobster and truffle pot pie which was quite bland... unfortunately it was my mother’s dinner (the birthday girl), but she didn’t want to bother with turning it back. Love the restaurant and the wonderful service.
A favorite restaurant, we went with two friends who also done here often. It is important to note, I was in an accident and have an ankle to thigh cast. We let the restaurant know in advance. Because tables here are spaced reasonably far apart, it was not a problem. Two of us had a dish that neither of us had seen on the menu before, lobster pot pie. Plenty of lobster bits and peas in a cream sauce--good cold weather comfort food, but not as tasty as the dishes we usually get. My husband had the always delicious rockfish. However, the other gentleman had the special steak which he found not particularly good but didn't complain. Although the server told us the price ($42), he apparently did not hear it and was quite shocked at what he paid for a mediocre dish. This experience was not what we usually have at Carrolls Creek and despite it I am sure we will be back.
Carrol's Creek is consistently excellent. Most recently, I met my daughter there for lunch. She is a pescatarian and really enjoyed the cioppino. I had the Tuscan Chicken Flat Bread, tasty and just right for a lighter lunch. Our server, Adonis, was knowledgeable and personable and checked in with us just often and quickly enough to be attentive without being overbearing. I made reservations for Easter brunch months ago (for a group of 8) and before I left on this visit, made dinner reservations for a day-before-Valentine's Day dinner for my husband and me.
It's an upscale place, and you can expect the bill to reflect that. However, you get tremendous value for the money. Our food on 1/20/18 was fresh, presented well, and served piping hot. Most of our table ordered the crusted rockfish topped with crab over risotto. It's probably one of the best meals you can get in Maryland. The chef's special where you get soup/salad/dessert for $18 more was a big hit. You can't possibly leave hungry, which I always worry about at other upscale places.
