What a fabulous place to go for drinks, food and a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was tasty and the drinks were on point. I can't wait to return for another fun time.
The menu was sort of limited and a bit unusual. Two of us loved our meals, two felt the food was just average. Very cool building.
It was my first time going to Carrie Nation and what a great place for a solid meal in a super fun restaurant downtown Boston.
We had a pleasant dinner for a special occasion get-together. Room was private as we dined at a low attended time for this establishment. Food was very good and the service was excellent.
Ended up here for a dinner with friends and were hit with ridiculously poor service. The drinks and appetizers took ages to get to the table and same goes for the main course. Our server was not attentive despite the place hardly being crowded, and the food was tad bit on the passable side. Might give it another go - maybe this was an off hand night.
We got a very nice table, and the service was very good. The food was tasty, but a bit on the more expensive side. They have a great cocktail list. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a mini chocolate cake with a candle, which was really lovely. Overall a nice dining experience. I do wish the menu had more variety and more mid-priced options. The appetizers were mostly seafood, and since many folks can’t or don’t eat seafood, that was a bit disappointing.
While I love the ambiance of Carrie Nation and have had other delicious meals there before, the Brunch Buffet was underwhelming. There were no pancakes or trench toast, no fresh fruit, and no breakfast drink menu. Carrie Nation is an awesome spot for an evening drink and snack, but I won’t be back for brunch.
Wings aren't the best and food is a bit over priced as well as drink but the decor is great!
Fun spot to catch up with a friend from out of town. Good food, good service, great atmosphere, and fun drinks.
Have been to Carrie Nation a couple times before and had great food and drink, but Saturday night's visit was a bit disatisfying.
Booked dinner for our anniversary, and our table of three was in and out within a single hour. Some may appreciate that, but we had envisioned a more relaxing, non-rushed evening. The restaurant was not near even half capacity, so they could have allowed for a slower-paced dinner.
We ordered two appetizers (seafood platter had no oysters) and a salad, and before we were even halfway through our appetizers our entrees came out. Salad never arrived. Had to ask for a steak knife for our NY Strip. The Pot e Feu, which ideally is a fork tender beef, needed a knife. Had to ask for a spoon for our mac & cheese. Our 11 year old noted her mac & cheese was grainy. Had to ask for a spoon for her ice cream dessert which, by the way, was plain vanilla ice cream - no whipped cream, cherry, or chocolate. If you're going to offer ice cream as a dessert for kids, at least dress it up a little. We didn't bother looking at the regular dessert menu - figured we'd be better off going elsewhere.
The Boston Mahatma and Brown Betty cocktails were good. Shirley Temple was served with a lemon instead of cherries. A glass of seltzer was refilled with tap water.
Overall, food was fairly basic in flavor and quality. Nothing overtly wrong - except for the missing items we didn't even get to eat, just...nothing to get excited about. Staff's attention to detail didn't exist Saturday night. We dine out at a fair amount of restaurants each month and this was a let down. Will NOT visit Carrie Nation again.
We were late for our reservation and they were very accommodating still even though it was a busy Saturday night! Would recommend to friends looking for a fun night out.
Austere and inviting
I attended the Drag Brunch event that is held every Sunday. After I booked a table on Open Table I received a call that all the tables were booked, but that they would have seats reserved for us at the bar. They should really just turn off the Open Table seating reservation during the event because people shouldn't be reserving a table online since they need tickets for the event anyway. Fortunately they ended up moving us to a table but it was in a corner and hard to see.
The food was ok. Some was good, but the eggs and home fries tasted like cheap cafeteria food. If I go again, I may eat beforehand because it's not really worth the $15 for the buffet.
Overall, the event was fun, the venue is really nice, but the food wasn't anything special.
Everything was fantastic- start to finish! Drinks, dinner and dessert — delicious. Service was fabulous and the vibe was perfect for an early dinner after a long week.
It was a Valentine’s dinner that came the choice of three appetizers, three entrees, and two deserts. There was a choice of two wines or a prosecco. The service was very good, the meal was tasty, and there was a singer taking request! All in all a great evening!
Great experience overall. Food and drinks were both delicious. We had the roast of the day for two and it was a very large portion enough to bring home left overs. Cool speakeasy vibe with big comfortable leather seats. Would definitely go back. They also have a bar/lounge in a separate room in the back with pool tables. Didn’t get the chance to check that out but it looked cool
Fun to learn the history and a great Maître D’
Great ambiance, wish it was a little busier. Drinks and food were both fantastic as was the service.
Only half committed to a great theme and concept.
The food was not good neither was the service.
First dinner out in Boston as residents!
Great food, dope environment!
Went in a group of 6, and all of us got different entrees, plus we got 2 appetizers. Of those 8 things, 7 were amazing, and one was just a little overcooked. Good beer and wine lists as well. Very happy with the meal.
It was the Applebee’s of Speakeasies.
The food was tasty but, the service was slow and awkward. I was hosting friends for dinner and had to apologize all night for such an embarrassing experience.
As far as the atmosphere goes. The top 40 music didn’t fit. There was a game on in the bar, which would be fine if they marketed themselves as a sports bar. Half the tables were empty on a Saturday night. I certainly won’t be going back.
Amazing place! Food was delicious.
waiter was attentive, did what we needed before asking, very happy with our experience, will return for more soon, we were there for brunch, so, relatively quiet atmosphere
Took my staff to celebrate the holidays and had an enjoyable, relaxed lunch. Service was wonderful. I ordered the lobster roll and the lobster was dry and unappealing. All other lunches seemed to be well-received.
The food was just not good. I've been many times for drinks and always have a pleasant experience. This was my first time for dinner and we ordered the steak and salmon. The steak was asked to be cooked medium and it came out rare. The salmon was flavorless.
I had been here a bunch of times for drinks, but never for dinner. Cool cocktail menu and solid beer list, and I looked at the menu and decided to try it for dinner. The food was awesome. All 3 of us loved our meals, and we all got different things (mussels, salmon, and polenta). I would definitely go back.
I have visited Carrie Nation many times for after work drinks, but never for dinner. It was a special occasion, seeing as how my Mom was visiting from California for Thanksgiving. The service was exceptional. Andrea went above and beyond in making sure our evening was enjoyable. Even after my mother sent her food back, the salmon was a little under done, the staff at Carrie Nation addressed her concern with no fuss and when 2nd round of salmon came out, it was cooked to perfection. I really cannot say enough good things about our evening. My drinks I ordered were divine! My Mom wants to come back the next time she is in town!
The drinks and service were wonderful! Recommend the drink in the tea kettle
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Carrie Nation! It was a random "stumble upon" decision and we are so glad we did! The dining experience, service, food quality and atmosphere was impeccable! I enjoyed a few $1 oysters (M-W 4-7, $1 oysters!) and then moved on to Calamari, then mussels and fries for my entree. Everything was phenomenal. There's a speakeasy in the back (was closed for a private party when we were there), so I'm already plotting a return!
The space is cool and ripe with potential but just didn’t deliver. It was pretty empty, and oddly quiet. some of the food was good but some just wasn’t. Cocktails were good. It was really surprising and seemed like a missed opportunity. Service, though, was excellent.
They should bring back their original kale salad which was delicious
The service was awful and the food was terrible. The bar scene is cool but I would never go back for a meal here.
Food came out cold after over an hour of waiting
Wonderful experience at Carrie Nation! The service was excellent and dinner was delicious. Would definitely go back!
A bit too loud. Server arrived w seafood app instead of seafood entree (this was already after 2 dozen oysters for apps). Otherwise good.
We were in Boston to celeb rate our grandson's 5th birthday. After the party in the afternoon with his school friends, we took his mother, our daughter, out for a celebration of our own. We ordered the roast of the day--a prime rib, pureed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Also started with the mixed lettuce salad which was large enough for all to share. The large roast served the 3 of us easily and deliciously, and the left over meat made into sandwiches and fajitas the next day. We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner, the atmosphere, and the after dinner drink in the speak easy bar.
Excellent service, great atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent handcrafted cocktails. A little on the expensive side, but well worth it when you don’t mind spending a little extra money.
