Carriage House Restaurant
An eclectic a la carte menu of small plates and desserts is available only in the bar area; seating on a first come-first served basis. A full bar offers premium spirits and a stunning selection of interesting wines by the glass, as well as by the bottle.
I found this restaurant by accident when I call the Papermill Playhouse and they said they're actually is a restaurant in the same square as a paper mill Playhouse and they said that there will be a fixed menu would you actually save you some money instead of buying everything individually and the ingredients and the food was delicious and have to worry about eating bad food if we was super healthy. And me and my bf had a blast and they listen to us and had sparklers for are 6 month anniversary which was special. I would differently go again. The waiter was awsome and decoration were amazing.
Great food and ambience .The location is great for the theater
A very good pre-fix lunch before “Holiday Inn”.
We had tickets for Holiday Inn right next door at The Paper Mill Playhouse so this was the perfect choice. The restaurant was beautiful and festive. The service was great and our lunch was delicious. I highly recommend it.
Very convenient for lunch/dinner pre show at the PaperMill Playhouse. Great service and interesting menu options.
Food was fresh and served nice and hot! Service was outstanding. Not rushed at all. Will definitely be back!!
Great service & food!
The Carriage House was beautifully decorated for the holidays and we enjoyed a delicious lunch before the show. They also prepared a wonderful vegan entree for me!
Hits all the check marks when going to the Paper Mill Theater; you get to park early close to the theater, you are withing 50 steps of the theater front door, the menu is varied, the food is well-prepared and presented and it tastes great.
The food and the service are excellent. For a pre-theater place to dine you cannot beat it. You are not rushed and the ambiance is very nice. I will keep coming back!!
Wonderful three-course price-fixed menu in a elegant yet casual setting. Food was wonderful and it's just steps away from the papermill playhouse theater.
The food is always delicious and the choices from the special menu are perfect! The service is so courteous never rushed! Love this restaurant!
I feel the food has improved substantially since we started going there
The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. It has a varied menu each night that it is open, always when the theatre has a production. We have been coming here for years whenever we have tickets for the Paly mill Theatre. It is located across a courtyard from the theatre.
From the moment we were seated we were rushed to place a drink order. Then our food order. The waitress wanted all 3 courses ordered at once. It was a pre fixed menu.
Went to the Carriage House before we had tickets for the night's performance at the Paper Mill. The menu, which changes to a theme suitable for each play during the season, was very festive and there were so many great choices my party plans to return for a second meal, even on a night we do not have tickets. The serving staff are so friendly and attentive. They always make me feel like a welcome friend and not just a customer. The chef does some amazing things with her food choices and I have tried items that I never thought I would and found them extremely tasty and enjoyable. The seating is comfortable and the ambience is casual but can be romantic and cozy as well. The 3-course menu is Prix Fixe but reasonable, you do not go away hungry or disappointed. The bar serves great drinks and offers specials every time. Parking is close and there are no steps for those with limited mobility. I have, and will continue to, recommend this gem of a restaurant to my family and friends. I hope more and more people discover it, either for pre-theatre dining or a special meal out! GIVE IT A TRY, you will be back!!
I brought my new date to the carriage House for lunch before our musical at the Papermill Playhouse. He really loved it as much as I always have. The food selections were delicious. We requested a table by the fireplace which we did get and loved. Out waiter was so nice and it was just an enjoyable time that we will never forget.
I did not feel that the food was worth the price. Options were limited. I assume price was raised because of the season. I have been to your restaurant many times in the past with my daughters (not on holidays) and found everything good and enjoyable. I would never make reservations at Christmas time of the year again. Price for glass of champagne was ridiculous.
The staff is the best!
Very cozy ambiance food and service were excellent.
My husband, my son and I enjoyed our experience as always at the Carriage House and we are looking forward to going again in February. So glad they have a vegetarian selection on the menu.
Pre theater dining here is always a great experience. The atmosphere is very nice. We were seated in the front room with a fireplace. The service was friendly and attentive. You order all three courses at the beginning of the meal. The wine list is good but not extensive. The food was very good, nicely presented and well prepared. A word of warning book early as the reservation list fills up quickly.
Been here numerous times before theater always an outstanding experience food ,wait staff top notch will go back again
A bit pricey. A bit disappointed with dessert ice cream ball. Not very creative.
Tables a close together and difficult to move in and out.
Dinner was just ok.
The food is always good and I am impressed that the manager who seats us knows who we are and our special requests. We will always come before the paper mill show
Four of us for pre-theatre fixed price dinner. Everything was sooo delicious. I never eat dessert, but found myself gobbling up the entire bread pudding . Highly recommend this restaurant. Small and cozy with very professional service.
Pre show dinner with a friend. Great service. Delicious food.
Not as good as last time... decrease in portion size an increase in price...overall a bit disappointing...service not as good as usual
Excellent food and service- we will definitely return.
Very good for pre-theater lunch. Service is friendly and staff is efficient. Very convenient. Always interesting choices for lunch.
This restaurant is intended for the Papermill Playhouse crowd. They get you out in time for the theater. Food is always fresh and inventive. Service is friendly. This is a limited menu with only a three course option. Choice of starter, entrée and desert.
Highly recommend for pre-theater dinner! The food is always delicious here, although not much of a choice due to the nature of what they are serving for... to get patrons in and out for the show! As long as you know this, it works. We have never been disappointed in the taste of the cuisine here.
We have visited The Carriage House several times before a show at the Papermill Playhouse.
The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere cozy and warm.
The prix fix menu was diverse and everything we had, delicious.
We’ll be back!!
Food was quite good for pre theater lunch. Nice choice of dishes offered. Excellent service
Very impressed with food choices. Food was delicious and just enough. Great for pre-theater. Definitely will return.
As season ticket holders, we eat at the Carriage House before each performance at the Paper Mill Playhouse. It is a great "date night" for my husband and me, as older customers. Thanks.
Seeing Holiday Inn at Paper Mill Playhouse
Only open prior to a performance at The Papermill Theatre and only has a pre-fixe menu. It's somewhat expensive, but the service, atmosphere and food make for a memorable experience.
Food was great service a little slow. You price for food and drinks ,and ticket is right up,there with broadway prices!
The table service and menu options are getting worse and worse with each successive visit. Their greens salad and the dessert menu are always very good, but the remainder of the menu options are just lame. A spicy Cajun soup with andouille sausage, they say? I don't think so. A salmon dish that turned out to be glorified tuna fish salad? Never again! (The waiter even forgot to serve the toasted French bread that came with it until I was nearly done spooning this cold, mayonnaise-based dish down my throat.) Now it is unfair to blame the restaurant for the snafu with my Paper Mill Playhouse gift card, but this is the second visit in a row where there has been embarrassing issues with this card which was issued by the box office in lieu of paid-for theater seats. All in all, this fail it was a group effort.
