About Carpe Vino (21+ Establishment)
CARPE VINO SERVES PERSONS 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER (YES...EVEN THOUGH WE SERVE DINNER). Located in what was originally a Civil War-era saloon in the heart of Old Town Auburn, Carpe Vino offers a unique setting for relishing great wine and stellar cuisine. Enjoy wine and dinner at the "Mary Pickford" wine bar with selections from all over California, or relax in our elegant dining room, surrounded by racks of wine.
Carpe Vino's innovative menu is California themed yet French-inspired. We offer fine dining tempered by our Old West heritage, with many core ingredients sourced from local farmers whom we know by name.
The menu changes virtually weekly, with new selections added based on farmer's market availability. Upwards of 40 wines are available by the glass; since Carpe Vino has a substantial wine shop business, bottles opened in the building are priced at retail plus $5.

Carpe Vino (21+ Establishment) Ratings and Reviews
Eating at Carpe Vino is always a treat. The service is excellent, attentive and friendly. The food is delicious, creative, and changing with the seasons. My *only* criticism is, ironically, the wine. When I choose a bottle of nice wine from their expanded list, it is frequently not available. It's probably a great expense to keep a large wine inventory on hand, but it is a wine bar, after all. At the very least, the digital list should be kept updated.
All considered, CV is my *favorite* area restaurant.
Carpe Vino is definitely a special occasion place. The food is creative and very well prepared and presented. The service was attentive and knowledgeable , but not overwhelming . We were there on a Tuesday night and as a result it was not busy or loud. It's not large, but on a busy night it could be loud. it's in a popular location in Auburn, so parking was a challenge. It's expensive, but worthy of a splurge.
Wonderful romantic dinner with my husband! So nice to be able to go out in a quiet atmosphere and be able to hear each other talk. The food was fantastic and beautifully prepared. The service was incredible! Try the oysters, they are a party in your mouth! Large wine selection .
It was amazing ❤️ We arrived early so did wine tasting at the Bar... Enjoyed Crab Appetizer and Scallop Entree and Beef Cheeks melted in our mouths! Our Favorite Server did his Magic ❤️ Short drive from Sacramento... Thank You for making our Date Night Special ❤️
We were running late due to traffic. We called ahead to let them know and put in our order. Patty held our table and had our order in to the kitchen before they closed. The table was set precisely with an equisite arrangement of flowers in vase. Kendall provided us with outstanding service. The food was superb and the wines selected by Paul were nicely paired. Three cheers for Carpe Vino!
The food is the best! The menu changes with seasonal variations and dishes are beautifully presented and taste wonderful. My husband and I shared the beet salad--nice touches of grapefruit, orange, etc.--and I had the lamb meatballs, my husband the wagyu sirloin. We often share a cheese plate (not this night) but enjoyed our desserts--almond cake and chocolate cheesecake. The atmosphere is convivial and easy going, staff is friendly and helpful; wine list extensive. Only comment is that servers handle all bussing--olives, bread, water, clearing items, a lot to manage--and it might be helpful to have a person roving to pour water, clear tables, get bread, etc.
Carpe Vino is my favorite restaurant anywhere in Northern California. The food is amazing due to the special gourmet sauces that are unique to this restaurant. We always choose Carpe Vino for all our special occasions. The service is 5 star as they always remember to roll out the red carpet for any special occasion. For example, I brought my husband there last week for his birthday. They had a card on the table for him and when they served desert, they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate across the plate. The extra personal touches helped to make the evening very special.
Best Restaurant in Auburn and equal to almost any restaurant in the Bay Area. Unbelievable wine list for reasonable cost. Creative chef with the best, organic, sustainable and local ingredients. Friendly atmosphere and cute part of town for after dinner window shopping/ antiquing.
Such great fresh flavors. Every course was so delicious. I love how the sauces were not rich & cloying but bright and accompanied each item on the plate. I will definitely come back here. The server need to slow down a bit, he seemed to be in a hurry and it was not busy. We could not even get a sentence out before he was gone again.
One of the best restaurants, if not the best, in the entire Sacramento region. Great wine list that is priced at retail (if only more restaurants went this way, or at least had conservative markups), great service, and a chef that can be counted on to deliver great dishes consistently.
Chef Eric Alexander does it again! Great selection, preparation and execution. Had the tuna tartare and then the meatballs. Wife had the pumpkin soup and then the pappardelle pasta. Everything was great! Had a new server, Tom, who was also very nice and did a timely service.
Carpe Vino is consistently excellent and we are blessed to have it here--Napa style! Cheers!
I always tell my friends that the best restaurant in Sacramento is actually in Auburn. Carpe Vino has a creative and inventive chef team in the kitchen and a wonderfully procured wine list. Every time I dine at Carpe Vino I'm introduced to new flavor combinations and seasonal ingredients and my server always has the perfect wine pairing suggestion to accompany any meal. If you haven't already taken the short drive to Auburn to enjoy Carpe Vino, do it this weekend! Make sure to make a reservation though, this wonderful restaurant has limited seating and is always busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Enjoy!
The absolute very best fine dining cuisine in the land! Extremely creative dishes that are sumptuous and delicious. Have dined there on many occasions, and never been disappointed. I would rate Carpe Vino as the best dining in the entire greater Sacramento region!!!
We love Carpe Vino, the food and wine is to die for. Their wine club is excellent. However, this trip sadly lacked in their typical fabulous service. I still will continue going back as I am hopeful that it was just a fluke that we received service from one that had a bad day.
We stop at Carpe Vino (you need a reservation!) when en route home from San Francisco to the foothills and it is always a treat. The cuisine is really exceptional - one of the best in the area, including Sacramento. Dishes are beautiful preparations, interesting mixes of ingredients and elegant touches; wine list is extensive; service friendly and helpful; yummy desserts and usually a cheese plate. We highly recommend Carpe Vino for a special evening out.
