Carpe Diem Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
When service is poor, it really takes away from your restaurant experience. We were seated promptly, waited for menus, waited too long to order drinks, waited even longer for only one drink to come....they were out of the other. You can see where our evening was going, which took me by surprise as this restaurant had good ratings on TripAdvisor
We returned after a great experience several years ago. This visit was disappointing. Food flavor was mixed. Soup shooters were good as were the corn risotto balls. Fish tacos were bland and boring. Flatbread was just OK. Truffle fries were good. Homemade mozzarella was just OK. When bill arrived, charged double for tip, when pointed out, the server claimed it was right, then when challenged, said he couldn't make changes, was manager who assigned tip. Eventually was resolved, but only after challenging twice. Will definitely not return. So many other good options.
After looking at the ratings this place got, the pictures, and the menu we were so looking forward to appetizers for dinner. We got the popcorn that looked nothing like the pictures; the burrata with tomato/tapenade that was cold, super salty, yet tasteless; and the mushroom flatbread that was just Ok. Service was mediocre at best. Even though the waitress was nice and very friendly, it seems like she was waiting on many tables far away from where we were so we did not see here very often and was difficult to even get refills on water. The place looked nothing like the upscale photos on yelp. Very disappointing, I would not recommend at all.
Fresh food and efficient service. The menu always changes so it's nice to stop in during a different season when they switch it up with what's fresh. We always get the burrata and each time they pair it with a different "topping" (this time it was heirloom tomatoes). The mushroom flatbread was great and our guys enjoyed the ostrich burger (I loved the fries that came with it). If we had room, I'm sure we would have ordered the Twix dessert.
I had vey high hopes for the restaurant based on the menu and reviews. My salad and appetizer were very good but my main course was disappointing. I ordered a mushroom flatbread and I added grilled chicken. The chicken had a very strange taste that ruined the dish. I don't know if it was free-range or some other type of chicken, and I don't know how it was prepared, but it was extremely unpalatable. One of my companions ordered pasta and added the chicken as well. He found the taste so unpleasant that he was unable to eat it, and they took it off the bill. I took the chicken off of the flatbread and ate a bit more of it, but I had lost my appetite for it by then. I should have sent it back as well. However, my other companions enjoyed their food and the place was very busy, so my advice would be to give it a try, just don't add chicken to anything you order!!
The food here is delicious! Didn't finish it all and had a great lunch the next day. We thought the service was a bit slow, tho nice servers. We wish there was more room between the tables as it was noisier than we would like. But we will go back as food wonderful.
Went here on a recent trip through town & was rather underwhelmed. I was looking for flavors to pop with the fresh produce available , but found otherwise. Ordered the peach salad & was excited about enjoying fresh, juicy peaches, but instead they were underripe. The ostrich burger was better, but nothing id come back for. The fries were the highlight of the meal -- so don't leave the restaurant without these.
This used to be my favorite place in Napa. It was still good, but perhaps I have eaten here too much. I thought the food was just good and not amazing as it usually is.
Service is always top notch. Love the chefs selection flatbread. Always creative and tasty.
A great place for both food and wine. Lovely small plates like tacos or truffle fries are accompanied by delicious wines. The wait staff are very knowledgeable about the wine so best to ask if you're not sure - like me! Loved it so much we came twice!
Great experience at both bar and dining. Very attentive but not overbearing service. Wonderful evening. Don't miss the ostrich burger, I'd recommend carpe style with crispy pancetta and duck egg topper. My wife had the shrimp and grits which she thoroughly enjoyed. We split the chopped salad, again, very good. Don't miss this place downtown Napa
Carpe Diem Wine Bar was the first place my friends and I went to to kick off my first bachelorette party this summer. All the food was delicious, our waitress was friendly and attentive, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would definitely recommend anyone in the Napa Valley area to come here for a meal, a drink, or even a dessert!
