Carolina Grill & Tap Room
This is the first time I have ever written a poor review of a restaurant. We were so looking forward to nice date night for Valentines Day, but sadly we left disappointed.
The setting was very impressive. We were greeted right away and seated per our reservation, which was nice.
We were told prior to arrival abt the special menu they were serving for Valentine’s night, $100 for appetizer, 2 entree’s, wine and a shared dessert.
We enjoyed the shared appetizer...then it quickly went down hill after that.
Waited 5/ 10 mins for a steak knife to finally arrive. .. it had a sticky handle ! Yuck
The fish was overcooked and the rice/veggie blend was cold. I hated to send it back .. but I couldn’t eat it.
The second attempt was not much better.
We really wanted to enjoy our experience, but it was a let down. We won’t be returning..
Great food and service for a business lunch!!
Food was embarrassingly bad.
We were seated immediately even with it being a holiday. Our waitress was very friendly and very attentive. Everything was reasonably priced. We will be coming back again!
We have been with you two times and both times there were not many folks eating dinner. I hope this is not the usual case. We like the ambiance and have enjoyed ourselves a lot.
We like to try new restaurants. This was our first time at The Carolina Grill. The food was delicious and we had great service!0
Pulling in, I thought I took a wrong turn. It’s in a neighborhood. When I pulled up, it was a pleasant surprise to see this restaurant here. Very quaint. Very yummy and gave off great vibes. There is a bar downstairs. If I hadn’t been driving, I would have checked that out. Go...it’s cool.
Steak sandwich was tasty but very little meat, and was a tough chew.
One person said the Cod wasn’t cooked through, but was cooked enough to eat.
The pasta dishes were well prepared and tasty. Garlic bread was “ the best ever” according to one diner.
Service was great, Rose was very attentive and pleasant.
We came in for a girls' weekend dinner. Stevie our waitress took excellent care of us. They went over and above to make sure our experience was excellent. The food and beverages were amazing!
The service was very good. Two of us had the brisket which was tasty while two had the fish and chips which they said was very good. The only down side was the noise level as they were busy on Friday night and we had trouble hearing each other talk. It's a good location and a nice place to dine.
We sat outside on the patio on a perfect evening. Our server was outstanding and our food was really, really good! We appreciate the warm welcoming atmosphere of Carolina Grill!
Enjoyed a nice dinner outdoors. Our waitress was great as she explained the downstairs pub was being renovated. Still accommodating with our drink options. Onion rings were top shelf and four of us all enjoyed our dinner. Large servings too.
Great place to eat. Food was excellent and not overly priced. One of the best places we have eaten in Indianapolis Very good service
A lot of potential here. Just reopening after some major flooding in the basement which limited their bar service. The menu selections are wide and creative. We will come back once they have a fully operational bar. Great location.
Very nice place. Out of the way and off the main thoroughfares. Worth the trip!
Always a great experience at Carolina Grill. Food is great reasonably priced. Very kid friendly. Great specials on wine. We go there every time we visit our son in Zionsville.
We made the reservation and drove to the restaurant - only to find that they closed the restaurant for dinner for some reason. We then had to scramble and make another reservation at another restaurant. Because of the late timing, we had to drive a bit to find the closest restaurant with availability. We were not impressed.
Our Mother's Day meal was the worst meal I have ever had. Brunch items were either unavailable, over cooked or cold. $30 a person should be rewarded with excellent food, but it was not the case. My family and I will never return and I highly recommend staying away and find another establishment that will serve food worthy of the price.
Nice local place but no steak on menu as we expected based on website. Also my salmon was overdone and dry. Burgers were good so we will return.
This is a really cool place if you go into the basement where the tap room/bar is located. Though it’s quieter than you would like for a bar area. There is a pool table that’s free to play and a dart board but no darts and also a golden tee game.
The food was good and the beer and drinks were great! The problem was that they had 1 person in the bar area bartending and waiting tables plus having to make drinks for the entire restaurant. It took 40 minutes to get our first drinks. We got there at 6:50pm. Didn’t eat till almost 9. We felt terrible for the bartender as it wasn’t her fault. Staffing really needs to be fixed. It was a Saturday night and St Patrick’s Day weekend.
Wonderful place for lunch! Quiet and Quick!. We enjoyed ourselves.
We sat downstairs in the bar area since we were without kids that evening. Food was great & Megan was our server. She did an awesome job taking care of us! Many thanks!
We spent Valentine’s Day at Carolina Grill because it’s quiet, no TV’s blaring in the background, food is always delicious & service is fantastic!
We enjoyed a quiet dinner. The service was excellent. We were seated at a booth and the ambience was nice for a weekday dinner. The food arrived quickly. There was only one other family dining and we could hear all of those conversation. Perhaps a little background music would of helped. Food was good.
There was one or two occupied tables upstairs and took about two hours to complete our meal. They gave us a bunch of money off and a gift card for a “next visit” which won’t likely happen.
Food was awful
This was our first time at this restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had dinner with friends who recommend a specialty drink that my husband loved. All of us really like what we'd ordered and the quiet environment made it so easy to enjoy our conversation. We will definitely recommend California Grill to others and look forward to returning!
We thought the menus was limited and not impressive.
We should have ordered a tenderloin - you can’t go wrong with that.
The pretzel was worth ordering - we would get it again.
The timing of food coming out of the kitchen was rushed.
Did not give much time to finish one course before the next came out
We did like the decor _ rustic
We will give it a second chance
It was closed on Sunday, when Open Table said it was open.
Food was great, atmosphere was ok not the most romantic, service was good.
Food was good. Service was slow. 2 of the sandwiches had nothing on them. Waitress fixed it after we told her.
We’ve visited many times and are always pleased. However, on this visit our waitress was a little awkward- an older lady, maybe she was new...seemed very nervous. In any case, it’s still on our list of favorites!
I’ve been to dining room and tap room downstairs. Food, drinks and service always excellent. Dining room a bit noisy, not great for a quiet night but otherwise excellent.
Great evening and great food!
Food was wonderful and nicely priced, environment was wonderful, service was wonderful. Will be going back.
There was something wrong or missing from each person’s dinner in our party of five. The waitress wrote down an order wrong, didn’t catch errors the kitchen staff made, interrupted our conversation multiple times, and was generally awkward. They did comp the one dinner they completely messed up. While the food we had wasn’t bad, it was an unfortunate dining experience.
We came across Carolina Grill when coming back from Indpls. I googled places to eat that were different and Carolina Grill came up! The food was fabulous!!! The night we were there they were serving Blue Gill - OMG! It is to die for!! Every Friday night we make this our road trip date night! I highly recommend Carolina Grill not only for the food but for the service - they are extremely friendly and get to know you! The fact that the Grill is in the middle of a neighborhood makes it even more appealing! This is very much worth the drive for us!
We’ve been several times. Seems to be deteriorating in excellence and quality. May not be back.
They were either too busy or under staffed. Made reservations and still waited 15 minutes to be seated, then waited another 10 minutes before a server spoke to us and took our drink order and explained that there was a buffet available for Mother’s Day. The food was fair. The chicken was extremely dry and tough. Ordered a Bloody Mary and it was warm, no big deal just ordered extra ice, but then it tasted watered down. Overall our experience was fair and not worth what we paid for. This could be an awesome place with just some reorganization!
Great food. Really accommodating. My party was over 30 mins late and were still very kind and understanding. Very nice staff and loved our experience! I recommend!
