Carnivale Ratings and Reviews
Went for my mom's birthday. She loved it, so did a few other people that were in the group and at the restaurant for the first time. The ambiance and atmosphere is really cool, and while the menu is pricey, you get good portion sizes for the price, so it's worth it.
Also a lot of their menu is gluten free for those people who have celiac disease and/or follow a gluten-free diet for whatever reason. Some really cool cocktails as well. Good for a date, anniversary, birthday, drinks, etc.
Neat place to dine, but that is about it. Service was good (Omar was attentive). Had the ropa vieja appetizer - it was pretty tasteless. Had the ceviche sampler - only one of the four was tasty, however, the portions were good, but served without any platform like crackers or tortilla chips. We asked for some chips and they were very fresh and we were not charged extra. The flank stank with chimichurri was uneventful, as was the Peruvian chicken.
The dessert was the best part - Cuban Cigar - very creative presentation and good flavor.
The mojito was nothing impressive.
We were seated way in the back so we had a quiet area and it just opened for the evening. Our server was Jackie and she was attentive and knew the menu well to give great recommendations. The ambiance was a great way to the back where we were able to have conversations and it was a bit romantic due to the lighting and isolated. Street parking may be a little difficult to find but the valet is only $9. It was my first time dining at this restaurant and I've been trying to go for years. I'm so glad I made it and will return soon.
I have to admit I was excited to have dinner at this venue because of the ambiance and show advertised on the website. I made my dinner reservations based off of the live entertainment schedule. However, once I got there I was very dissapionted once I realized that I was going to be seated somewhere different than the main room where the ambiance is lively and the entertainment is. Instead I was seated in one of the many rooms tucked away from the main room. I asked the waitress what I would of had to do to be seated in the main room and she said that I would have to of made sure I let someone know that's where I wanted to sit when I made reservations. However I noticed on the website I went on to make reservations there was no option to request specific seating. I would recommend that Carnivale put the option on their website for the patrons to request what room they request to dine in and then give available reservations times based in the room they want. This would eliminate the chance of a customer coming in with expectations of seeing a show and experiencing the lively ambiance and getting dissapionted.
The restaurant itself was beautiful and I originally thought the prices weren’t to bad but after eating the food I thought it was over priced because it wasn’t very good at all. I had the scallops which were cooked while but they were on top of what tastes like dry corn bread pancakes that were on top of strange salsa. It didn’t not go well together at all. My husband had one of the chicken dishes and said it was also cooked well but very much lacked in flavor. I will not be coming back.
Food is horrible. Too sweet, flavors are off and do not mesh well. I and another friend didn’t finish our meals and did not want to take it home. Our sever was marvelous and she was able to take one of the plates off our bill and she was just super attentive overall. All staff was amazing and courteous. The ambiance of the entire place is super. Just wish the food wasn’t so bad.
I ordered a martini, waited a while so I thought I was going to get it with my food. Food came out still no martini. Waitress walked passed me multiple times couldn’t get her attention, and never gave me updates about the martini. By the time I was halfway thru the food I didnt even want it anymore. Told her to cancel the drink and that was when she noticed “they” never brought out my drink. Thats how they treat customers they might forget about you.
First time customer via recommendation from friend. Made reservations one week in advance. Upon checking in with front desk before 8:00, we were immediately seated.......at the first table in the dining room, right next to the people waiting and front desk, not to mention the kitchen. When I wished a different table, further inside the dining room, we were told that customers were going to be seated there. What were we?? We were seated in a side room against the wall. From that moment on, Carnival left a bad taste.
Fantastic food, friendly service, and an energetic space. The mixed ceviche and ropa vieja tacos were wonderful appetizers. 4 of us shared a wonderful birria (the portions are enormous). They also have an interesting selection of wines by the glass which compliment the meal’s flavors well.
Overall service was good. Food was fantastic. Music was a little loud at first where you could not hear the conversation you where having with the person in front of you but we told our server and the music was turned off in the back. Great service!!! Would come back again. Love the overall atmosphere and vibe this place has.
Huge, colorful, establishment with fun decor reflecting the carnival theme. Rather loud. Great if taken as energetic or creating a party-like ambiance. Not so great for conversation or anybody who is hard of hearing. Delicious and interesting options for diverse diets/tastes, in our case ranging from vegan to steak-lover. Vegetarian/vegan options are not extensive but are delicious. We had a wonderful wine with dinner. Server was attentive without hovering.
