Carnevor Ratings and Reviews
I have been going to this restaurant for a while now because it's mine and my husband's favorite steakhouse. This time we had a waiter that was rude and ignored us half the time probably from a judgemental stand point. We are young but we spend pretty good money at this place and still gave him a good tip. Hope seeing that, he felt like a dick after. Don't even know his name because he didn't give us it. We left loving the food but were disappointed in how we were treated. It was Friday November 17th at 8pm sat on the left side of the restaurant if you are coming in from the door. If I could know his name that would be great.
Very cool ambiance. Waiter’s spiel was impressive but long. Steak I had at Capital Grille had less fat. Wine (Caymus) was excellent but expensive ($185/bottle vs. $22/glass) at Capital Grille. Twice-baked potatoes and brussel sprouts were good, as was thick cut bacon. Steak fries were not very good. Very expensive, but nice business meal. Might have been loud, but we got a lucky table away from other groups.
By far one of the best steaks that I have eaten in the land of a city filled with steakhouses. I had the Chef ‘s cut ribeye for $100. It was worth every bite! No regrets. My guests had the fillet mignon, and were so pleased with there steaks. From the wine, appetizers, main courses and side dishes to the dessert, the dining experience was one that has me wanting for more.
Went here for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was absolutely incredible. Best steak I’ve ever had by far and the service and overall ambience was impeccable. They even personalized the menus for the birthday and we got to keep them. Definitely worth the money. I would go again in a heartbeat.
Carnevor consistently offers an exceptional dining experience. The service is as phenomenal as the food. We have celebrated numerous occasions at Carnevor, dined before shows and taken out of town guests for dinner. No matter the event, they always go out of their way to make it a special evening.
Way below expectations set by reviews. Went to Carnevor for business dinner on travel. Have expensive steakhouse meals a few times a month (usually Flemings or Palm). Never had calamari that tough and chewy. Bread had overwhelming seasoning. My steak (dry aged NY strip) was overcooked, dry, with tough, thick crust, and very gamey taste (even with crust cut off). Lobster tail well presented but super salty. Partner's wet aged filet was overcooked but pretty good. His crab legs were too salty to eat. Service okay but busy and didn't seem to care if we liked the food at any course. Ambiance too loud to hear straight across the table.
We came here to celebrate our first anniversary, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special! They had "Happy Anniversary" printed on the menu, made sure to congratulate us in person, and brought out a special dessert on the house. The food was fantastic, with my ribeye being perfectly cooked and seasoned, the drinks were tasty, and the environment perfectly romantic for my husband and I.
Service was mediocre. Had a reservation set, and the hostess made us wait at the bar for 15 minutes while only half the tables were full. Food was okay. The steak was good, but everything was way too salty. For a $250 dinner for a special occasion, I learned that money could be much better spent elsewhere in town.
The food was wonderful. My husband and I were celebrating his birthday. When we walked up, we were nervous because the street appeared dark and desolate. When we walked into the restaurant, it was packed...and for good reason. Everything was wonderful. I particularly loved the wedge salad and 8 oz filet. My husband loved his ribeye and the truffle mashed potatoes. We'll definitely be back.
We dined here for our anniversary and it was amazing. I have been here several times and each visit has been top notch. The filet and most of the steaks come from a local Wisconsin Farm the restaurant owns and is one of the best steaks I have had and I have dined at restaurants across the country. They made the experience special by printing special menus just for us, with happy anniversary printed in them. They also sent them home with us in a nice folder for a keepsake. The service was spot on. I don’t have anything but compliments for the restaurant. Superb.
We were seated immediately upon arrival. We were delayed outside because the valet parking was no longer in front of the restaurant. It was raining as well. We had cocktails, then ordered the wedge salad. It was so good. Lots of delicious bacon on top, not too much dressing, and great flavor. I had the barrel cut 8oz filet and it was cooked perfectly and so tender, juicy. The truffled mashed potatoes were great, buttery, so good. We also had a side of the sautéed spinach. Again, so good. My husbands steak was prepared perfectly as well. Carnivore had taken over as our favorite steak place in the city. It’s consiistently wonderful. We’ll be back.
Carnevore is quite possibly the best restaurant for steak in Milwaukee. The ambiance is wonderful, creatively designed, and perfect for any special occasion. My wife and I have been there several times, and have never been let down. Someday I will try the Japanese "A-5" Wagyu Filet...I hope. Cheers !!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Wife had seafood and was excellent, I had Ribeye steak and
was highly disappointed in quality. Cooked perfect, very tough. Cut of meat was less than average at a much lower end establishment. Will go back, however, will try a different cut.
Best steak in Milwaukee, melts-in-your-mouth, the lettuce wedge with ranch dressing was phenomenal. The twice-baked potatoes were awesome also ! The staff was real Pleasant, and our waiter was Will, he did an excellent job for us, a real likeable guy !! Went there for my 32nd. wedding anniversary ,did us well !! Looking forward to going back there again, would recommend this place to anyone.
The food was excellent as it always is, but the service has been better. Our waitress seemed very uninterested in taking care of my wife and I, and it seemed as though we were rushed out of the restaurant. We were never asked if we'd dined there before, never asked of we were celebrating anything (of which we were celebrating my wife's birthday), and the waitress literally said nothing to us after collecting the bill and ny credit card from the table. Not so much as a "thanks" or "how was everything". My wife's filet came out very rare, which isn't a big deal because it was taken care of. The issue I had was that the table behind us had the same thing hapopen and they were given the full royal treatment after that with free dessert and even a gift card. By no means am I looking for a handout, but I just felt like we were being treated like peasants. Not what you'd expect from a high dollar establishment such as this. I will probably give my business to another steakhouse in the future, which is a shame because their food is phenomenal!!
