I'm generally not a big steak house fan as we source and prepare steaks as well as any steakhouse in the City however, Carnevor did it spot on! High quality beef, cooked to perfection. Bar and table service was excellent.
The steaks are absolutely amazing---just too bad all of the sides are not desirable. We've been here four times and every time we are disappointed in the sides. Get some normal potatoes on the menu, please. Who doesn't love a good baked potato with their steak? Also, the salad was not good.
Vegas food ruined me. Food there is consistently some of the best in the country. That being said, this steak is the best I've had since. It's just about equal to Vegas quality - if not the same. Is expensive compared to other places in town (cheap vs Vegas) but well worth it when you're looking for some of the best. I haven't had as good of a steak anywhere in Milwaukee, yet. The apps and side's are fantastic, too.
Great food and great service. A completely enjoyable experience from start to finish. The only thing that was a bit off was the music selection playing in the background ... Sinatra would have been preferable to “ The Eagles” but that’s a matter of personal taste.
I have ate there in the past and was very pleased. I was really let down this time. We had a dinner for two and our table was shoved in a corner next to extremely loud large dinner party. Everything was super rushed, it seemed like they wanted us in and out. Steak tasted like it was not freshly cooked, it tasted like it was under a warmer. I don't think I will return.
Our daughter and her boyfriend were in town for Christmas. After attending A Christmas Carol matinee we ended our day at Carnavor. Our server was personable, informative and just attentive enough to make the evening delightful. The appetizers, salad and various steaks selected were perfectly prepared and delicious. Cocktails, beer and wine were just right.
I had asked for a menu with no prices which I got however right behind the no price menu was the menu with the price which my guest quickly figured out. Also, I had asked the wait staff to take a pic of our group and he proceeds to tell us where to stand for the best pic which is great but the pic was a complete fail in that the pic was completely black.
We were there for the first time and loved it. The food and service were amazing. The only issue that we had was that we were seated near the door and every time the door opened we got a frigid blast. We found it very uncomfortable and distracting. Next time we make a reservation, we will request a table away from the door.
Our time at Carnevor was amazing! Walked in and were seated immediately at our reservation time. A nice window seat and exceptional waitstaff. Tuna Tartare was ordered foe an appetizer. Filled by the Lobster Bisque (wow, Amazing) and the Beet salad. I’d suggest both. We finished with the Filet Oscar and it was delicious. Always a special time at Carnevor.
Our group was seated immediately, drink orders taken, and water poured. Our server went over the specials for the evening. We had the beef tartare appetizer, then followed it with a variety of salads and the lobster bisque. All were very good. Our steaks were prepared as asked and were tender and delicious. The sides were smaller then usual and it seemed as though not all were able to have some of each. The restaurant treated our birthday guest to a dessert. It was a great time and a very good meal.
We had a group of 4 and we split several appetizers and entrees. This was hands-down the best meal we have ever had in Milwaukee, and one of the best we've had anywhere. A week earlier, we had been to one of the famous steakhouses in Chicago, and Carnevor was better by a mile. Everything, from the decor to the service (Will is a terrific waiter) was top notch. The steaks were outstanding and the sides (truffle mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, crab legs) were some of the best we've had. Wine list is massive, with options at every price point. This will now be our regular place when in Milwaukee.
Very cool ambiance. Waiter’s spiel was impressive but long. Steak I had at Capital Grille had less fat. Wine (Caymus) was excellent but expensive ($185/bottle vs. $22/glass) at Capital Grille. Twice-baked potatoes and brussel sprouts were good, as was thick cut bacon. Steak fries were not very good. Very expensive, but nice business meal. Might have been loud, but we got a lucky table away from other groups.
By far one of the best steaks that I have eaten in the land of a city filled with steakhouses. I had the Chef ‘s cut ribeye for $100. It was worth every bite! No regrets. My guests had the fillet mignon, and were so pleased with there steaks. From the wine, appetizers, main courses and side dishes to the dessert, the dining experience was one that has me wanting for more.
Went here for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was absolutely incredible. Best steak I’ve ever had by far and the service and overall ambience was impeccable. They even personalized the menus for the birthday and we got to keep them. Definitely worth the money. I would go again in a heartbeat.
Carnevor consistently offers an exceptional dining experience. The service is as phenomenal as the food. We have celebrated numerous occasions at Carnevor, dined before shows and taken out of town guests for dinner. No matter the event, they always go out of their way to make it a special evening.
Way below expectations set by reviews. Went to Carnevor for business dinner on travel. Have expensive steakhouse meals a few times a month (usually Flemings or Palm). Never had calamari that tough and chewy. Bread had overwhelming seasoning. My steak (dry aged NY strip) was overcooked, dry, with tough, thick crust, and very gamey taste (even with crust cut off). Lobster tail well presented but super salty. Partner's wet aged filet was overcooked but pretty good. His crab legs were too salty to eat. Service okay but busy and didn't seem to care if we liked the food at any course. Ambiance too loud to hear straight across the table.
We came here to celebrate our first anniversary, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special! They had "Happy Anniversary" printed on the menu, made sure to congratulate us in person, and brought out a special dessert on the house. The food was fantastic, with my ribeye being perfectly cooked and seasoned, the drinks were tasty, and the environment perfectly romantic for my husband and I.
