Carnevor Ratings and Reviews
Carnevor...within great walking distance of The Pfister and the Marriott. We chose Carnevor for a great tasting steak on Valentines Day. I must say the food was probably the best we've ever tasted from the seasoned butter for the warm bread to the thick, melt in your mouth Filet Mignon. Our issue is the ambience. I would hardly call this romantic as the seats are very close together and it is VERY loud. We asked to move seats once because we were by the front door and got put in a room that reminded us of the mens den. I was the only female there and the groups of men surrounding us were extremely loud! My husband and I could barely hear each other let alone the server. The management was super about apologizing later and expressed care regarding this issue. I would highly recommend Carnevor for a fantastic tasting out of this world steak!!
Unbelievable steaks and even better service. I had the dry aged ribeye with wagyu jus and my fiancé had a filet with bernaise. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly and out of bounds amazing. She even went so far as to say it was the best steak she ever had. Our waitress was also incredible, very attentive and made us feel like valued customers (she even covered our dessert!).
Food was great, drinks were great, service was attentive, atmosphere was nice, sound was good the only issue was that we were seated on the side of the restaurant where when patrons would enter or leave we would get a blast of artic air. Because that seemed continuous, it pretty much killed the experience for my wife, which for $100 a person is disappointing. We weren't the only guests talking about it. Don't sit on the left side when entering - sit in the back if possible. Owners should consider installing some clear plexiglass on both sides of the walkway leading to the host stand and consider adding a ceiling heater to warm the air before it hits the restaurant, as the exterior vestibule for the winter is far from adequate.
This was our 3rd visit for a personal date night and 4th for a business related dinner and this is becoming our reliable and go-to place for a classic steakhouse dinner. No surprises and no worries as the service, food, noise level, and atmosphere work just right. A little old school “club” feel and very unhurried. Just wish they offered a Porterhouse cut and maybe some lamb chops as their chefs are artists with the current offerings.
Carnevor is THE place to go in Milwaukee for steak and seafood. Their selection is phenomenal. Our waiter, Eric, was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to selecting a wine from their very large wine menu. Their price range for wine is equally large .
I've been to Carnevor three times over the last 7 years and have had a wonderful experience each time.
Friendly waitstaff (Stan) was helpful selecting our wine and followed through with special request for charred steak medium rare.
Steak was perfectly done and and sides right on the money.
Stan was a lot of fun and helped make our anniversary dinner perfect.
Highly recommend Carnevor. Great food and service.
We went for the A-5 Waygu kobe beef. It was $161 and only 6oz!!! Although the steak was amazing, I don't care how rich you are for $161 I need bigger piece of meat!! We also ordered the panko calamari but it was beyond rubbery and unchewable, so they took it off of our bill.
Other than that, we had a very romantic, very expensive evening.
The steaks are absolutely amazing---just too bad all of the sides are not desirable. We've been here four times and every time we are disappointed in the sides. Get some normal potatoes on the menu, please. Who doesn't love a good baked potato with their steak? Also, the salad was not good.
Vegas food ruined me. Food there is consistently some of the best in the country. That being said, this steak is the best I've had since. It's just about equal to Vegas quality - if not the same. Is expensive compared to other places in town (cheap vs Vegas) but well worth it when you're looking for some of the best. I haven't had as good of a steak anywhere in Milwaukee, yet. The apps and side's are fantastic, too.
Great food and great service. A completely enjoyable experience from start to finish. The only thing that was a bit off was the music selection playing in the background ... Sinatra would have been preferable to “ The Eagles” but that’s a matter of personal taste.
I have ate there in the past and was very pleased. I was really let down this time. We had a dinner for two and our table was shoved in a corner next to extremely loud large dinner party. Everything was super rushed, it seemed like they wanted us in and out. Steak tasted like it was not freshly cooked, it tasted like it was under a warmer. I don't think I will return.
Our daughter and her boyfriend were in town for Christmas. After attending A Christmas Carol matinee we ended our day at Carnavor. Our server was personable, informative and just attentive enough to make the evening delightful. The appetizers, salad and various steaks selected were perfectly prepared and delicious. Cocktails, beer and wine were just right.
I had asked for a menu with no prices which I got however right behind the no price menu was the menu with the price which my guest quickly figured out. Also, I had asked the wait staff to take a pic of our group and he proceeds to tell us where to stand for the best pic which is great but the pic was a complete fail in that the pic was completely black.
